Elizabeth just learned she’s a princess, and she’s promised to a prince. Problem is, the prince is my younger brother. But this little princess is mine, and mine alone. Screw tradition. So when I catch her trying to escape, I take matters into my own hands. I bring her to the dungeon for punishment, and a night she’ll never forget. Finding out I’m actually a princess was a shock. Finding out there’s a prince who has been waiting to marry me when I turned eighteen? Yeah, that was a shock too. I’m not exactly princess material, even if I do have the evil sisters and neglectful parents thing going on. My life was supposed to be boring, cruel, and most of all, uneventful. But all that changed. I’m taken to a city that shouldn’t exist--a kingdom that shouldn’t exist. It’s a whole new world full of possibility, where teams of servants cater to my every need and my room is at the top-most tower of a palace. It should be perfect. It should be a dream come true. But my husband-to-be would give a glacier the chills, and one look makes me want to get as far away from this man and this place as I can. I’m captured during my escape by the most breathtaking man I’ve ever seen. He says he is going to make sure I’m “punished” for trying to escape. I never knew punishment could be so… intimate , or so enjoyable. And I definitely didn’t expect to learn Mr. Tall Dark and Gorgeous is actually a prince too--my husband-to-be’s older brother, in fact. **This is a full-length, standalone novel. No cheating or cliffhangers, and as always, Happily Ever After guaranteed. **
USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Amazon Charts Bestselling author Penelope Bloom is taking her first flight into romantasy—and yes, there are dragons. After years of contemporary romance, she's temporarily trading meet-cutes for magical academies and coffee shops for castles that reek of blood. She promises the banter is just as sharp, but now it comes with deadly consequences.
Fun fact: “Penelope Bloom” started as a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the family dog, Penelope—never meant to be anything serious. But then the books took off, and the name stuck. Behind the scenes, Penelope Bloom is actually a husband-and-wife team. He handles the writing; she edits, helps with brainstorming, and runs the reader-facing side of things (like social media and messages). So if you’ve chatted with “Penelope” online, you’ve likely been talking to her—with the author chiming in whenever needed. Together, they’ve built the voice readers know and love.
This was so entertaining. The only downside was that the h was weak especially when she has too much “morality and conscience.” The plot was ridiculous and that made it so good. 😅🤣
Not the "Happiest Place on Earth" but a hot, twisted version of Disney
There's a magically-hidden realm that we don't know about, but it's not very Disney--or maybe it's like a warped version of Disney. The elites/royals are forced to bleach their hair blonde if they don't have it naturally and they're made to wear these weird Disneyfied outfits (even while playing sports) which have puffy sleeves and lots of VERY un-Disney cleavage. While not monitoring hair color, these control freaks are meddling in and outright controlling what happens in the rest of the world. Maybe the Bilderberger/Bohemian Grove conspiracy theorists were on to something, after all. ;)
The world building in this book is pretty interesting, if not frequently horrifying. Like the other books in this series, it's fun to read and a good length to read over a few lunches or an evening. This book gets hot with BDSM-light scenes between Elizabeth and Roark. I received an Advance Reader Copy and willingly reviewed it.
“I Don’t Have Regular Appetites. The Things I Want--The Things I Need Sexually Would Frighten Most Women.” — Prince Roark
The blurb above about this book basically tells you everything you need to know, so, I won't go and repeat it! But what I do want to talk about is frickin' "Prince Roark!" Omg! This guy is one hot as hell dominant alpha-man, and he knows how to dish out a punishment! Made me start thinking if all prince's are like him. Hint! Hint! Lol.
BDSM/Erotica Romance Books Are A Favorite Of Mine. And I Highly Recommend This One (If That's Your Thing)
My Favorite Quote: "All I Can Think About Is The Way His Command Over Me Is Driving My Body Wild. I Think About How Completely And Totally I’m In His Power, And About How Much Power He Has In This Moment, And Every Instinct In My Body Is Crying Out To Touch Him." — Princess Elizabeth
I really hate having to give negative reviews. This story had so much potential to be so much better!! It started off OK but then I almost stopped reading it! I mean, seriously, the dialogue was cheesy at times and it just seemed to that it was written in a way that the writer either just wanted to be done with it or it was maybe a second rough draft. I only finished reading because I was already somewhat invested that I wanted to find out what happens! LOL Regardless, don't take my word for it, it does have a lot of high reviews and everyone sees things differently.
**An ARC was received in exchange for an honest review**
"If the rumors and mystery surrounding Prince Roark weren't enough to make it clear that I should stay away, the fact that I'm supposed to be marrying his brother certainly should"
Ok first off this book was WAY different than anything I have ever read and I don't think that was a bad thing. A fairy tale kingdom and a girl who is secretly a Princess I mean come ON its every girl's dream to find out they're a princess.
Prince Roark is everything Elizabeth should stay away from. He's dangerous, attractive and most importantly her fiance's brother. However their chemistry is amazing and they cant seem to stay away from each other. Not that I minded in the least ;)
I will admit there were a few things that bothered me about this book...
I loved how different and new this story felt to me, it's not something I've ever really read before with the whole royal kingdom but in modern times type of take and I enjoyed that.
This book starts out like an inside out backwards crazy Cinderella👸 story. The mean foster parents and siblings treat the orphan, Elizabeth👸💋 badly at every turn. The handsome Prince Titus, 👑 comes to take her away on her eighteenth 🎂birthday, but he's a cold hearted, violent creep who will think nothing of beating or torturing her for his own pleasure over any perceived slight. Nice Guy! Elizabeth👸💋 has been promised to him since birth, but she never knew it. This place she is taken to, to be married to Prince👑 Titus, is a hidden surreal kingdom, called the Shrouded Kingdoms👑, but it also seems to be a corrupt, violent place where all the men are armed🔫🔪 and duels and fights are common. There is another brother, Prince Roark👑🔫🔪, the dark one, but he is an enigma, full of violence also, but he looks at Elizabeth👸💋 like she is his fated mate, not Titus's. The 👑King was murdered, smothered in his bed. Now the Queen👑 rules, and it's obvious she prefers Titus👑👹🍌🌋🔫🔪, the younger brother, over Roark👑🐺🍌🌋✋🔥, the elder.🔫🔪 Roark👑🍌🌋✋🔥 is set on figuring out a way to take Elizabeth👸💋 from Titus. Prince Roark👑 is a handsome intense Alpha🐺🍌🌋🔥 guy. He's a spanker✋✋, a binder, a choker👐 and he wants to bite👄👹, too! YEHAW! Ride em Bareback, Cowgirl!
There is very little punishment✋✋ in this book, in fact the book is mistitled in my opinion. BDSM is only hinted at, and is basically nonexistent. I think there is one scene. I was a bit disappointed in the book as a whole. It's definitely NOT " the Princess Bride "👰 Read with KINDLE UNLIMITED for an honest review. I paid for this!
Punished by the Prince is a BDSM dark romance about innocent Princess Elizabeth Dowry and the "Dark" Prince Roark Burkewood of Shrouded Kingdom. The plot is like a twisted fairytale with a happy ending. The princess's early life was similar to cinderella's, with no love and treated poorly. Then there was the arranged marriage with the beautiful Prince who instead of getting her out of her misery he turned out to be a monster. But her luck changed when the older brother and heir to the Kingdom claimed her, showed her pleasure, fought for her love, and let get grow into the real Queen she was destined to be. This book is filled with intense moments. Half the book is about the romantic relationship and their sexual escapades and the other half about the machinations and the assassinations of the royal family. This one is from the stories that keep you on your toes with the constant little surprises and revelations. I loved Elizabeth and Roark they were such strong characters with calmness and fierceness. One of my favorite parts was of the Princess fighting for her first time. I enjoyed reading this book and I will rate it with 4,5 stars.
I roll my eyes. “Did becoming king turn you into an immature middle schooler?”
“No. It made me realize I’ve never fucked a queen before. I’m impatient to give it a try.”
(Elizabeth & Roark): TRIGGERS: CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT. Umm so this book had a lot of different concepts snagged into one. It was very Cinderella/Princess Diaries at the beginning then turned into "Fifty Shades of Grey". If you don't brace yourself, you ain't expect it. Elizabeth is a princess, however didn't know it until she was rudely awakened with the truth by a stranger and her concierge. All this time she thought that her family just hated her. So as a baby she was promised to a prince for marriage and now that she's eighteen, they have come for her. Only thing, there are two princes and the one she's promised to is a pompous arse. Almost immediately Elizabeth and Roark (the older brother of her betrothed) have sparks shooting across the room and they almost can't help themselves. The two begin to feel strongly for each other over time and hide it as much as possible. Roark decides he wants her for himself. Oh the drama. This is where it kind of turns into a lifetime movie with dueling brothers and fighting for a crown. And all this time I'm thinking to myself…. Wait… this isn't a period drama, but they dress, fight and use SOME weapons from the past and the author added a flair of clothes, music and food from present-time. If you focus on that part, out will confuse you but it was a little bothersome at times. The book wasn't bad, the intimate scenes were intense, the chemistry was crazy. There was just a lot going on.
Elizabeth has always been mistreated by her family. She wishes that they would love her but all they do is show how little they care. She can't wait to turn 18 and finally free herself from them. They are at her 18th birthday celebration, her family tell her to leave and go out to the car waiting for her. The strange man explains to her that her family was just her foster family and she is truly Princess Elizabeth. She has an arranged marriage to the younger Prince Titus. Elizabeth's whole life is changed. Everyone seems to love her and cater to her every desire except her fiance. He is cold and uncaring about her and everyone. Her future mother in law is cold too. The only royal family member she can relate to is Prince Roark the older brother. When she tries to escape the castle, he punishes her and it makes her hot. She really wishes Prince Roark was her fiance. Prince Roark has always had a problem with his darker desires. He must do some violence every few days to keep it under control. When he punishes Elizabeth, he gains control for the first time without violence. He is drawn to Elizabeth's light and innocence. He wants her to be his. However they only way to claim her would start a civil war. Will his desire for Elizabeth win over his concern for his people?
Punished By The Prince is a great fantasy story written in alternating POVs. It’s a unique plot that has quick and steady pace with an interesting alpha male prince and naive, but loyal female lead.
Elizabeth had no idea that when she turned eighteen she would be whisked away to a hidden kingdom and have a secret betrothal to a prince. Everything she believed in past: her family and life were all a lie. From being in a foster home to pampered princess has Elizabeth overwhelmed, but not as much as when she first meets her prince. All her instincts tells her Prince Titus is the wrong prince for her, and it’s Prince Roarke that calls to her inner siren.
Prince Roarke can’t believe his attraction to Princess Elizabeth. Being with her quiets the demons and the darkness within him. He’s not willing to let her be ruined and thrown away by his spoiled and traitorous brother. Throw in a wicked queen and this story has the makings of an adult Disney movie with steamy scenes. Very light BDSM elements.
I received and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I didn't know what to expect, but I enjoyed it! The first part of the book is a little slow, but you end up really hating the Queen and Prince Titus. The picture painted of the kingdom is beautiful yet mysterious. You just know there's a darkness lurking under all that beauty. And poor Elizabeth. She really got the short end of the stick when it came to life and thought for a second it was going to get better after she turned 18. She quickly learned life was just about to get even worse. Then enters Prince Roark. He is alpha all the way, sexy as hell, and knows exactly the right thing to say to get you, err, Elizabeth turned on ;) Things really pick up in the second half of the book and I could not read fast enough! It's action-packed and Prince Roark is the sexiest royal hero. The way things end for the Queen and Prince Titus was a little shocking, but I can't say they didn't deserve it! The royal wedding was beautiful and their official wedding night was hot! I definitely recommend this book! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
A great great book by Penelope Bloom about a young woman, Elizabeth, who doesn't know she is a princess until her 18th b-day. That day she is whisked away and taken to a secret kingdom where she meets her future Prince she has been promised to when she was born. Problem is she has eyes for his brother Roark and is attracted to him more than anyone before. When Roark corners her when she tries to escape, they bring out feelings in both of them they didn't expect. But his mother and brother have other plans for the two of them and when she gets caught and is brought before the Queen, it is up to Roark to save and free her while rightfully taking his place as King. A great story you don't want to miss with steamy scenes, lust/love, action, some suspense and a great HEA that will make you smile from ear to ear. The only thing missing for me is an epilogue more into the future to see how it all turns out for the people there and the two of them. *I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book*
Not your average fairy tale- Elizabeth has never been a high priority for her in her family, typically left out of everything, treated like garbage, she is in for a huge surprise on her 18th birthday.. She is whisked away by a foreign sounding man telling her she is Royalty and now that she has reached the age of 18, it is time for her to marry Prince Titus, getting her the Kingdom is easy. When she meets Prince Titus and Prince Roark for the first time.. not so easy. Prince Titus and Elizabeth may not have had that instant sizzling connection, but she and Roark did! Things in the kingdom are about to get turned upside-down! Dungeons, EvilsQueens, Blood Duels, arranged marriages, Shrouded Kingdoms- you know like today only not * winks * So, this was certainly different than I am used to reading with the Prince arranged marriage theme, it was interesting, extremely hot, suspenseful with an edginess that I couldn't put down!
Wow! What is happening here? From page one of this book the action begins. You get drawn into a new unknown Universe and follow the main character Elizabeth into a new place. On her 18th birthday she is brought to an unknown Kingdom where she is supposed to marry a Prince. The rest you have to read by yourself. This book has action, romance, grief, darkness, emotions, lust, betrayal, humor, steamy scenes, love and hot alpha males. It has it all. The main characters - Elizabeth and Roark - are so well described that you only can feel their problems and issues and wish they come through it all. The storyline is a bit awkward in the beginning until you are caught up in the book and just have to read what comes next. I loved this book because it is different and unique. I just want to know where to find Roark - drooling! I liked the edginess of the book and could not put it down again. Absolutely worth reading!
I Voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book
I was not sure what to think about this book at first. It starts out like Cinderella and becomes a Beauty and the Beast. It also starts out contemporary and becomes a fantasy with the inclusion of the Shadow Kingdoms. Throw in a set of Princely brothers that have a power hungry mother and you have one interesting story. Roark and Elizabeth's instant attraction and developing obsession with the other threw a great big wrench into Elizabeth's carefully planned out future (of course, it was planned out by Titus, the other prince, and his mother). The story is good and well written but I think there was too much going on for the length of the book to fully explain everything that is going on at least to my satisfaction. However, it kept me entertained and I would recommend it.
I received a copy from the author and I voluntarily reviewed this book.
Elizabeth is a princess and didn't know it until her eighteenth birthday. She is taken to Burkewood Palace, in the Shrouded Kingdom, to meet her future husband and finds out the man she is supposed to marry, Titus, is a monster. His brother, Roark, on the other hand is more to her liking.
The first night Elizabeth is at the palace she tries to escape and is caught by Roark who takes her to the dungeon to be disciplined. This starts their relationship and it blossoms from there. The chemistry between them is hot. Roark has a dark side and figures out that Elizabeth keeps it at bay.
There is action, deceit, sex, love, betrayal and death in this short book. There is also a HEA with no cliffhanger. I think the only thing I didn't like was what happened to Dirk. You'll understand if you read the book and totally agree with me!!
This is a dark twist on the fairy tale classic, Cinderella. Elizabeth has been ignored and barely tolerated by her family forever. On her 18th birthday, she learns that she is a princess of a mysterious kingdom, is promised in marriage to a prince, and is whisked away to meet her fate. The Shrouded Kingdom is a strange mish-mash of Old World European meets high tech and her prince is a megalomaniac. However, his older brother, Roark, takes a single look at Elizabeth and decides she is his. He, too, has dark, twisted secrets, but risks everything, his life as well as his newly-found ambition to ascend to the throne, to make Elizabeth his and his alone. Ms. Bloom writes a tale of secrets, lies, abandonment, perversion, power, and control. Be prepared for some light BDSM elements. A fast read for lovers of the genre.
The beginning of the book was about an 18-year-old named Elizabeth who was abused and mistreated by her foster parents who hated her but still chose to raise her, she didn't even know until she was taken to Burkwood and Shrouded Kingdoms fine. A little crazy but fine. The one disgusting thing for me was the blonde hair like all Royals need this as a sign of their Royalty not to speak of the misogynistic way of things, but then again it's a book so fine. I began to enjoy this book until it started to feel more and more like a replica of Fifty Shades of Grey, especially some of the exact comments and scenes that felt like I was rereading Fifty Shades, “Safeword, red.” “His playroom with Xbox but no, with wipes and all the BDSM staff. Overall it was a crazy but enjoyable book. Crazy plots and weird people,😂😂

Aww! This story feels like a fairy tale. There is a magical kingdom unknown to the modern world with quaint customs and beliefs ruled by a king & queen. Elizabeth was raised in the modern world, unknowingly, by a foster family. On her eighteenth birthday, a concierge came to collect her and return her to the land of her birth, the Shrouded Kingdoms. At birth, Elizabeth had been betrothed to Titus, Prince of the kingdom. But the problem was Elizabeth couldn't stand Titus and was attracted big time to his older brother, Prince Roark. This conundrum makes this story an exciting read with royal politics, treason, spicy sensual scenes and thrilling rebellious action. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Five stars.
I loved reading the amazing and riveting fairy-tale contemporary romance story. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reading copy. Instead of being treated as an unwanted and unloved member of her family, Elizabeth finds out at the age of 18 that she is a princess and pledged to marry Prince Titus. Elizabeth is taken to the hidden kingdom, dressed as a princess, and brought to Prince Titus. When Elizabeth meets Titus, she only wants his older brother, Prince Roark. Roark will do anything for Elizabeth, but the kingdom sides with Titus and the Queen. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written full of action, intrigue, and romance, and a must read love story of true love finding a way to be together against all odds.
Elizabeth has just turned 18 and is leaving the only family she has known. They never loved her but her plans to make a happy future for herself changes when she is taken to an off the beaten path kingdom. And she's told she is a princess betrothed to the prince.
However, she's betrothed to the wrong prince.
Prince Roark is the heir to the throne. He has stood back from taking his place as king. Rules require that he had a queen to take the throne. He has not taken to his arranged marriages and he is rumored to have darkness. But he's got his eyes set on his brothers bride-to-be. But he will have to fight because his mother wants his brother to be king and they will do anything to make it happen.
I read several of the reviews and I thought this a delightful tongue-in-cheek swashbuckling parody of several fairy tales. It was a fun read with really barely a whiff of a spanking (which Elizabeth enjoyed). Their swords turn into guns and they have frequent duels in this weird kingdom located on a sudden turnoff in the middle of a tunnel. Roark was at first the dark prince and Titus, the fair-haired one.
Roark turns out to be the hero and Titus the villain. Throw in an evil mother-in-law who smothered her own husband, the former king, and I had a delightful fairy tale read for grownups. As long as you are not looking for a serious read even a normal comedy, you might enjoy this one as I did.
A totally delicious read - with a few well placed dark elements!
If they bred Princes like Roark in real life then I’d kill to be Elizabeth. What an absolute hunk of an alpha male. Strong, gorgeous, brave and smart. The beautiful and innocent Elizabeth has so much to be afraid of and such a sad and ugly past to put behind her and Roark sees that and sees how wonderful she is. Sexy, steamy, kinky, passionate and loving - all mixed with intrigue and nasty people who lie and cheat. But good triumphs and love wins - true signs of a perfect romance. The end was the perfect topping to a totally delicious confection. Loved this book - Penelope Bloom hooked me from the start.
Elizabeth has a rough life know her family doesn't want her. On her 18th birthday all she could think of was going to college and being far away from her family even when if she did it all by herself. Her parent told her on her 18 th birthday they had a surprise for her. All she had to do is go outside and it would be out there waiting for her. She didn't realize she was a princess and her distant cousin raised her until her 18 th birthday and she was betrothed to Prince Titus. To learn all this in one day is crazy and hard to believe. Prince Roark wants her and the only way to have her is to go to war. Will they be able to make it out of it a live?
Princess Elizabeth didn't expect to celebrate her 18th birthday with not one, but two huge surprises. She's actually a princess, and she's promised to a prince, but not quite the right one. This book was a wonderful combination of fairy tales. I loved how it was written, and there were great humorous moments even though I felt bad for Elizabeth. Bad family, spotty friends, and a difficult childhood, and to top it off, she's not who she was raised to think she is. Fantastic twists, I loved Prince Roark, the sexy beast! Great story, and a fantastic HEA! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Punished by the Prince is a switch to your normal Prince books. Elizabeth is taken from her family and brought to a kingdom that is not known to the outside world. She is then told that she has to marry Prince Titus whom she has been betrothed to since she was born. But when she meets the family she also meets Prince Roark the man she wants more than anything. Prince Roark is the oldest in the family but is in no hurry to take the throne, until he meets Elizabeth. Something about her speaks to him and draws the darkness away. He will do anything for her and to her to keep her. Loved this story and everyone in it. Great read.
I received this book in advance for a voluntary honest review. Elizabeth is told she's a princess on her eighteenth birthday that had been sent into hiding for her protection. She is arranged to be married to Prince Titus. Titus had cold eyes and a cruel personality. His older brother, Roark, is just as handsome but he has a darkness within him. Elizabeth is extremely attracted to Roark which causes issues with Titus. Roark returns the attraction and rides a fine line of what is appropriate touching of his brother's fiancée. Passion cannot be controlled and the kingdom is divided. Danger, alpha prince and some hot lovin' fill these pages.
