Enjoyable but too short ! I felt that there were so many possibilities that were left unexplored. I know this is a novella but parts of it were too rushed and the conflict was sorted out in an extremely hasty manner. Nevertheless, I did enjoy this Cinderelle-esque novella with a smitten H and an unbelievably nice and selfless heroine. The villains got their punishment and it was fantastic. The heroine's evil uncle had to repay all the money he'd defrauded from her and he was sent to debtor's prison. His wicked wife and ugly daughter Caroline were forced to hand in their expensive gowns and start working as scullery maids, while the MC's enjoyed a lovely epilogue with their newborn baby. I'm probably rating this a little too high, but I do love it when villains suffer. And it was awesome to see the H tell off the wannabe OW Caroline, who'd been following him, stalking him and harassing him. It was also great to see Rose ( the wife of the H's best friend ) slap Caroline when they found out that she and her nasty evil mother had locked the heroine in a dark attic. All of Caroline's dreams to be a rich countess came to nothing and since she ended up being a scullery maid, she'll be lucky ( with her lack of good looks, as is always the case with the ugly "sisters" in these Cinderella adaptations ) if a footman deigns to notice her...
I love the retelling of fairy tales and Cinderella has always been my absolute favorite. Who can resist the tale of a girl who escapes a nightmare situation to see all her dreams come true with the help of her friends? In Enticed by Lady Elianna, Amanda Mariel writes an entrancing, empowering, romantic version of this classic tale.
At 17, Lady Elianna, daughter of the Earl of Berkly, had dreams of her first season, being treated as a lady of prestige, finding a husband, and having a family of her own. But then her father died and a distant cousin assumed the title. Now Lady Elianna no longer existed. She was but a servant to the new 7th Earl of Berkly and his family. On a trip to London to take Lord Berkly’s daughter, Caroline, shopping for gowns for her coming out, Elianna meets Garrett Tumbly, Viscount Sinclair. They are immediately charmed by one another. But Garrett doesn’t believe in love after his parent’s disaster of a marriage, and Elianna knows she cannot reveal who she really is or it could harm her future. Garrett, a sucker for damsels in distress, is certain that Elianna is not what she appears and needs his help. He attends the Berkly house party and ball, dodging Lady Caroline and her match-making mama, in hopes of learning more about the intriguing Elianna. With the help of her friends, Elianna, who is desperate to at least have one dance with the handsome Lord Sinclair, makes plans to attend the masked ball. But she must leave before midnight or the Berklys may discover her ruse.
This story has all the classic Cinderella elements- the wicked mother, the fairy godmother (or in this case fairy godsisters), an epic makeover, and a Prince Charming. But this retelling is unique. I loved that, unlike in the original story, Garrett met Elianna first as a servant rather than all decked out in princess attire. He didn’t care about her social status but saw beyond that. He knew there was more to her and he was determined to learn all he could about her. I also loved that Elianna was no push over. She stood up to Lady Berkly when she wanted to attend the ball and took matters into her own hands. Rather than her dress being created with a “bippity boppity boo”, she created it herself. And I loved that their attraction wasn’t just love at first sight. Sure, the attraction was immediate but the rest developed as a result of stolen moments talking and flirting, and being themselves. Ms. Mariel takes a timeless story and writes a perfect, well- orchestrated, and unique retelling. Though part of a series, it can be read as a stand- alone. I, however, am definitely going to be reading the earlier books in the series. I really want to know Rose’s story. I can’t wait to see what’s next in this Fabled Love series. I’m hoping Eli’s friend Anna gets her happily ever after. If you, like me, are a fan of fairy tales and historical romance, this series will be a dream come true.
Elianna knew a fool when she saw one.... If she could peer into a looking glass at this very moment, a fool would be staring back at her.
Every now and again, I like to clean my book palate by reading something that I know will be a nice, sweet, HEA book/novella just to recenter myself and be ready to dive into heavier reads. Historical novellas--especially fairytale retellings--tend to accomplish that seamlessly, which is why I picked this one up.
This novella was a pretty classic retelling of Cinderella--complete with an absent father and mother for our heroine, an EVIL STEPMOTHER, a wretched step-sister, fairy godmothers in the form of really good friends, and of course a dashing viscount. Yes, the relationship between Elianna and Garrett was full of instalove, but with these novellas I expect (and want) that so it didn't bother me. The final twist we find out in the end concerning Elianna's dowry was really surprising for me and made all the dramatics at the end more plausible/acceptable. Overall, a great fluff read with surprising heart. Read it!

Elianna was the daughter of the Earl of Berkeley who died unexpectantly when she was seventeen. Two weeks after her father’s death, a distant cousin moved in as the new Earl of Berkeley and informed Elianna that her father had neglected to provide for her. Therefore, she had two choices. She could earn her keep by working for his family or be sent to a convent. For the next five years Elianna served as governess to Lady Caroline and Lord Hudson, acted as a ladies maid, seamstress and nurse. When Lady Berkeley decided to throw a house party and ball to launch her daughter into society, she sent Lady Caroline to London to have a new wardrobe made, and demanded that Elianna accompany her as her chaperone. After one of the fittings, Lady Caroline insisted on walking during the fashionable hour in Hyde Park. While on their stroll, a large dog knocked Elianna to the ground, precipitating their introduction to the dog’s owner, Lord Sinclair. Lady Carolina immediately set her cap for him and invited him to the upcoming house party. Garrett Tumbly, Viscount Sinclair, was not the least bit interested in Lady Caroline, but he was intrigued by her beautiful ‘companion’ Elianna. Something did not feel right and he feared she might need rescuing. Fast forward and they were at the house party where Lady Caroline and her mother kept making a nuisance of themselves, hoping to secure a proposal from Lord Sinclair. Although he made numerous attempts, Garrett was unable to uncover Elianna’s secret. His request to dance with her at the upcoming masquerade ball led Elianna to jump through hoops to secretly attend. Of course things did not go as planned. This Cinderella story will have you marveling at Elianna’s patience and resilience, and shaking your head at Lord and Lady Berkeley’s audacity. I always love it when a rogue meets his match, and Garrett does not disappoint. Lord and Lady Aubry are the cutest couple ever, and Anna wins the most stalwart friend award. Ladies Berkeley and Caroline get the comeuppance of a lifetime, and I must applaud both Garrett and the author for their ingenuity. This story is a delightful nod to Cinderella with the substitution of a fallible rogue for the prince. Most entertaining!.

Lady Elianna, the daughter of the Earl of Berkeley, is excited about soon experiencing her First Season and meeting the handsome men looking for a wife. But her father died and when relatives stepped in, she was instead put in the role of a servant to the new Earl’s family. While accompanying the new Earl’s daughter Caroline as she purchased a dress, Elianna met Garrett Tumbly, Viscount Sinclair, who is impressed by her. Garrett is convinced that Elianna is more than the servant she appears to be.
When Garrett attends a masquerade ball at the Berkeley residence, he hopes to find Elianna who is likewise determined to experience at least a single dance with him as long as she leaves the ball before midnight to avoid discovery! However, Lady Berkeley gets to her first and locks her away in the attic. Garrett in the meantime is called to meet with Lord Berkeley to discuss a marriage contract since Caroline has taken a fancy to him and wants him for her husband. Garrett continually says no, he is not in the market for a wife and his heart belongs to another. Lord Berkeley continued to write out the terms and again asked him to sign, willing to wait only until the end of the house party. Will Elianna get free from the attic? Will they find out what else Caroline’s family is up to? How far will the Berkeley family go to get what they want? Or are both Garrett and Elianna in danger now?
This was a nod to the tale of Cinderella and, in my opinion, needed a few more interactions between Garrett and Eli To make it truly believable that true love could develop. The cousin that took over the estate after the death of Lady Elianna's father, the sixth Earl of Berkeley, was truly vile and I can't believe that her father's solicitor would not have informed her, regardless of her only being 17, of her status and the disposition of her father's will. That left me frustrated and a little indignant for her. I was also disappointed that there was no mention of a guardian or something that would have represented HER interests against the cousin and his family.
Having Garrett Tumbly, Viscount Sinclair, as the hero is nice. He apparently has a very low tolerance for foul play and unfair treatment of people, which works in Eli's favor. His friends, Lord and Lady Aurdry, are jewels. Garrett's instincts that foul play was afoot were spot on and he took care of business.
The resolution was anticlimactic, justice was served to a point, but did it mean the cousin was ousted and a new Earl named? Did Eli and Garrett have to take over taking care of the servants and tenants of her father's estate? The disposition of the women was karma at its best, but it left me with questions.

Lady Elianna Williams is the only child of the 6th Earl of Berkeley who has died. This leaves the title and estate to a cousin, whom she has never met. From the first encounter when he comes to claim Crystal Court and the Berkeley estate, his coldness is striking. We are not surprised when his wife and daughter display the same attitude. It seems we have a Regency framed Cinderella in the making! Will a handsome prince save Cinder-Eli-Ana?
Well, not a Prince, but at least a Viscount enters the story. Garrett Tumbly, Viscount Sinclair, son of Earl and Countess of Laston and heir to the title, meets Elianna and her cousin Lady Caroline in Hyde Park. From there, the story develops along parallel lines to the Cinderella story, ball and all, and Elianna is treated like a servant.
I found this story just so-so—no real depth to it, yet not truly worthy of being a modern day Cinderella and Prince Charming. Elianna is successfully made into a Cinderella equivalent, but Garret’s characterization was lacking in “knightly-ness”(if there is such a word!). Yes, Elianna and Garret do find their HEA. But there is not much else to the story. The character development was lacking for all the characters, which may be true of all fairy-tales. The book is clean story, so all ages can safely read it.

This story certainly has a Cinderella vibe to it. Our poor beleaguered heroine, the daughter of an earl, is treated so poorly by the new earl and his wife—especially his wife, whose happy place is tormenting the heroine. Elianna was her father's only child, so the earldom passed to a distant relation. The heroine’s hopes for any happy future are soon dashed. The book opens with a prologue showing her first meeting with the new earl, but the bulk of the book takes place 5 years later when she's been relegated to being a servant. The family isn't even honest with others about who she is or was, calling her at turns a governess or companion … and even threatening demotion to lower levels of servitude, never stating she was the former earl's daughter. So the hero is her would-be white knight, but her horrid family has cowed her for so long that she cannot trust herself to share what her life is truly like and who she is. I kept wishing she would just have had a heart-to-heart with him, telling her about herself and her circumstances. As this is a romance, things do end up well … at least for the heroine. Let's just say the bad guys get their karmic just desserts! While the story lacked some development, both characterization and plot, I found it a thoroughly enjoyable listen.
I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.
This was a Cinderella story. Lady Elianna’s father dies, her cousin inherits the Earldom and tells her she has been left with nothing and can either become an unpaid servant to his family or be sent to a convent. She doesn’t want to eliminate her chance to marry and have a family someday so she chooses servitude. They treat her horribly for 5 years, rubbing her nose in the situation, when she meets Viscount Sinclair. Garrett is attracted to her and knows there is more to her situation since she acts like a lady, but her cousin Caroline keeps claiming she is nobody and tries to trap Garret for herself. Her fellow servant Anna arranges for Elianna to go to the mask ball remaking one of her mother’s old gowns so she can dance with Garrett. Her cousin’s wife finds out afterwards locks her in the attic just like Cinderella’s stepmother. Despite all they do, they cannot keep Elianna and Garrett apart. Their romance developed a little too quickly. But I was happy her cousin and his family get what they deserved in the end.
Lady Elaina and Lord Sinclair were never supposed to meet! But one trip with her spoiled cousin to London for dress fittings put them both in his path! Thankfully Lord Sinclair saw through Elaina’s cousin immediately! But he was intrigued by Elaina so he comes to the party and sees Lord and Lady Aubry his close friends! Elaina is keeping secrets as she been threatened most severely by Lord Berkeley her father’s successor! Garrett encounters Elaina at a masquerade and they both realize it is no passing flirtation! Elaina is in fear of Lady Berkeley who is determined to secure Lord Sinclair for her daughter! They resort to underhanded method to harm Elaina! But she has acquired friends and no something is afoot! Will Garrett be deceived or fight to right the wrongs of Elaina’s evil relatives! Definitely a Cinderella story in the remaking! Bravo I received an ARC copy for my unbiased opinion!
After the death of her father, the late Earl of Berkeley, Lady Elianna is forced to serve as governess and do whatever else the new Earl of Berkeley, her distant cousin, and his wife declare. Acting as companion to their daughter Lady Caroline, Elianna is tasked with taking Caroline to London to be fitted with gowns for their upcoming house party. While in London’s Hyde Park they meet Garrett Tumbly, Viscount Sinclair, who takes a keen interest in the mysterious Elianna and decides to take Caroline up on her invitation to the house party. This is very much like a Cinderella retelling with Hunter and Rose from book one in this series helping Garrett save Elianna from her wicked living arrangements. Again, another clean with only kisses romance with a sweet HEA.

A charming and heartwarming Regency romance inspired by Cinderella!
In my opinion, it is a sweet, moving, comforting, tender read, brimming with literary magic that will steal your heart from beginning to end. We are introduced to Lady Elianna, a young woman who, after the tragic death of her father, is stripped of her status and forced by her cruel cousin to work as a servant in his own home. After years of resignation, her world is turned upside down when she crosses paths with the astute Lord Sinclair in Hyde Park. Intrigued by the mysterious young woman, Sinclair suspects she is hiding something and decides to investigate, accepting an invitation to a country party at a stately estate. As their forced cohabitation progresses, passion and a desire to protect her ignite within him, while Elianna struggles to keep her secrets safe until one pivotal night changes everything.
Elliana has lost her father and her future is now dependent on the new Lord. Upon his arrival, she I'd given the choice to move to a convent or remain in her home as a servant to the new Lord's family.
Five years of serving her cousins family and the only person who remembers she is a lady is her dear friend Anna, a maid in the house. While escorting her cousin to London, while walking in the park she meets Lord Sinclair. He is invited to a house party at the family estate.
Being intrigued by Elliana - even though she appears to be nothing but a chaperone - he is sure she is hiding a secret he plans to unravel, he accepts. And from there, Amanda Mariel leads on a dance of love and secrets. While trying to avoid Lady Caroline and find out what he can about Elliana, the party begins.
I must admit I am not a fan of the retelling of fairy tails, because it's like old hash, but this was so unique and entertaining. I do enjoy this author and her writing style and own many books by her.
This is a clean story but I didn't miss my tad of spice in this. I felt a connection to the H/h and my heart went out to the h and how her family treated her (true Cinderella fashion). The romance seemed at a good pace and the character's had depth. Loved the secondary character's too.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA as only in a Fairy Tail can be, romance and a sweet epilogue 10 months in the future. I can't improve on the blurb, just recommending this story and any by this author. (ljb)
Well written, fast paced novella. Full of drama, love, hurt, family, suspense and a fairy tale magic. Retelling of a famous fable of Cinderella. Has all the special characters needy to make this an engaging, provoking story. Lady Elianna is now acting as a servant plus whatever else is needed from her stepmother and stepsister. Lord Garrett Sinclair meets Elianna and wants to find out more about her. She wants to go to the masquerade ball so she can dance with him but is refused. She makes her own gown and goes anyway. Lots of action to the end but they get their happily ever after. would recommend to everyone.

When Lady Eliana’s father dies, the cousin (and his family) who inherited treats her horribly. She is hardly more than a servant. This is a lovely retelling of Cinderella. What is needed now is a prince to rescue the lady. Eliana meets Garret, Viscount Sinclair, briefly during a visit to London to chaperone her cousin’s daughter. Garret is taken with her, and feels she is hiding something. At a ball given by her cousin for his daughter, Eliana decides to chance a dance with Garret, but she must return to her room by midnight. Things get out of hand. Eliana has disappeared, and Garret is determined to rescue her. The villains, who lied and cheated Eliana, get what they deserve. This is a sweet story with a happy ending. I enjoyed the audio version. Verity Burns’ narration was quite good. I received a special copy of this book via BookSprout and voluntarily reviewed it.
After her father death, Lady Elianna lost everything and became a servant in her cousins home. She feels she has no hope at love. That is until a miracle happens and Lord Sinclair shows up at her cousin’s estate. She dares not hope but she is so drawn to him. He feels the draw too. Y
This is a wonderfully written historical romance with some danger thrown in. The characters are interesting and you wish for them to be together and find happiness. They have a lot to overcome before they can even hope to be together. Overcoming the obstacles provides emotional drama and makes the story very interesting. I enjoyed this book and hope you will too.
This was a sweet retelling of Cinderella's story that was a sweet one. We meet Lady Elianna who, following her beloved father's death is now relegated to "servitude" with the new Earl and his wife. Though a distant relation of her father, they do not even want to acknowledge her as the former Earl's daughter but as a companion or governess.
Elianna has been so very beaten down that when Lord Sinclair comes around she does not have the courage to tell him who she actually is!
Loved this. Was a sweet read. I received an ARC from Booksprout and submit my honest review voluntarily.
Lady Elianna has been a prisoner in her own home since her father's death. Threatened by her distant cousin, her father's heir, she has no where else to go, but stay and work as a servant. A walk in Hyde Park as a chaperone with her cousin's daughter, she meets Garrett Tumbly, Viscount Sinclair. Known for rescuing someone in need, he knows that something isn't right in Elianna's life. A Cinderella romance without the shoe. One special kiss. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book from Booksprout.
Very cute Cinderella retelling. Elianna's father dies and the new Earl (a cousin) moves in with his family. He tells Elianna that her father didn't leave her anything and she can either be sent to a convent or become their scullery maid.
After 5 years of serving the family, Elianna comes across Garrett, who comes to find her at the estate during a house party. She goes to the ball, dresses up, and is then locked upstairs so that Garrett can be forced upon the daughter she has been a companion to. With help from Rose of book 1 and her former lady's maid, the love story is solved.
A sweet Cinderella story that was a pleasure to read this is also quick read great for an afternoon time out. I loved Elianna and Anna, both live in a house that is ruled by mean spiteful people and Garrett our prince charming is simple great character. I love a clean romance where there is a good story that I know I will re-visit again. A great book for any collection I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Lots of twists and turns. Eliana parents due leaving her orphaned. New heir comes in and forces for to work for them....
Story draws you in and pulls your emotions. Quick easy clean read. Good plot and good character development. Felt almost like real people not too over the top. Worth the read.
Forced servitude, loss of family, few friends. Hopeless, ball, deception. Etc...

A blue silk dress, slippers, a curfew of midnight, a charming Lord, and insufferable younger cousin, this clean Regency romance is a sweet retelling of the classic Cinderella story!
