Every moment counts in Book 2 of the fun new series from Socceroos legend, Tim Cahill!
Tim Cahill was born in Sydney, New South Wales to an English father of Irish descent and a Samoan mother, and was encouraged to play football as a child. He grew up moving between homes around Sydney’s south, west and inner west. He has an older sister Opa, older brother Sean and younger brother Chris. As a youngster, Cahill played football for Balmain Police Boys Club and Marrickville Football Club.
This book shows a young aspiring Australian Soccer player in his school hood years. Yes, he loves his sport and he practices as much as he can. When he and his friends play in the backyard, things get out of hand, the plants pulled over to be goalposts make drag marks on the lawn, they flatten the flowers and do damage to the lawn. Mum and Dad ban them from playing in the backyard. Tiny Timmy does his match report on the best backyard game ever.
At school, he plays a game with his team, and he plays well. Coach Roach is talking to a man in a suit. Then Coach Higgins comes over to talk to Tiny Timmy. He's the Rep Coach and he invites Tiny Timmy to go to the trials for the Rep team. He practices, even more, to be ready for the trials.
His brother Mike was going to the trials too. When they get there they notice that other boys are bigger, faster, and have new boots and shiny new uniforms. How could he compete?
They have to impress the Coach to get through. Luckily all their practice has paid off and they both get through.
This is a SCHOLASTIC book and the illustrations, and font changes to accentuate the action made it an ideal quick read for boys or girls who follow Soccer (or Football).
