Tim Cahill was born in Sydney, New South Wales to an English father of Irish descent and a Samoan mother, and was encouraged to play football as a child. He grew up moving between homes around Sydney’s south, west and inner west. He has an older sister Opa, older brother Sean and younger brother Chris. As a youngster, Cahill played football for Balmain Police Boys Club and Marrickville Football Club.
School is always good for Tiny Timmy when he can play a game of soccer at lunchtime. There's a new girl at school and Coach Roach asks Timmy to show her around.
Sienna isn't much interested in the tour of the school but she tells him that Soccer is her favourite thing. He takes Sienna out to meet Mike and Millie and his friends he plays soccer with. She's good and wants to try out for the school team The Lions.
Studs and Hacker are showing off in front of her. They are not impressing Sienna. She runs rings around them, knocking the ball away easily.
Sienna tells Timmy about a competition to do a trick, capture it on video, and send it in, if you get picked you can be a Ball Kid at the big game Australia is playing in town. Entries close that night and Timmy has to think of a trick. Sienna gets her video of him and they send it. Studs and Hacker fail miserably at their trick, so Timmy completes it for them. He's got two videos to send in.
The days drag by until the results are known. Tiny Timmy gets a place, and so does Sienna. This is going to be so exciting.
Again this book captures the kids' eye view of growing up obsessed with Soccer.
