Big news! Tiny Timmy and his team are going on a soccer tour! They’ll be away from home for a whole week, travelling and playing matches. Just like a professional team! What could be better?
But Timmy hasn’t been away from his family for that long before. Can he play his best, or will he miss home too much?
Find out how Timmy travels in book 5 of the best-selling series from Socceroos legend, Tim Cahill!
Tim Cahill was born in Sydney, New South Wales to an English father of Irish descent and a Samoan mother, and was encouraged to play football as a child. He grew up moving between homes around Sydney’s south, west and inner west. He has an older sister Opa, older brother Sean and younger brother Chris. As a youngster, Cahill played football for Balmain Police Boys Club and Marrickville Football Club.
Tiny Timmy and his soccer team performed extremely well at the Gala Day and now they have the opportunity to play against some of the best country school teams. Coach Roach calls a lunchtime team meeting and shares the good news with the players. They are off on a five-day bus trip to play the Big Country Beasts, the Pine Hill Possums and the Wave Beach Wanderers. Timmy is both excited and nervous, this is the first time he has spent so long away from his family.
This easy to read chapter book features text with different sizes of font, words in bold and in graduated sizes, animated words and bigger spacing. Heath McKenzie's line drawings are humourous snapshots of Timmy's life, his family, friends and the soccer games. This series is great for high interest, lower reading age students as well.
