Ruby is 22, fresh out of college and ready to take on the world. Like fate, she gets a job at the city's best marketing firm right after graduation. Sure, she's a glorified coffee maker for the senior office workers, but she doesn't mind because this is a stepping stone.
Out of nowhere, she is offered the chance to boost her career much earlier than expected, but if the stories are to be believed, is working directly under Tobias Clarke really worth it?
Tobias Clarke is 27, and after the death of his business mogul father, the new CEO of Clarke industries. His takeover hasn't been smooth sailing. He has a bad reputation, though rather than being one he repels, it's one he reveres.
When Ruby and Tobias' path's cross, sparks fly in all directions. Will they give in to their feelings, or will their secrets ruin any chance of happiness they might have?
I can't say that the plot was all that original, there are tons of stories just like this one, but seeing as how I'm quite the fan of these types of books, I'm not gonna complain.
“A week ago I had been an office junior making the bare minimum, living in an apartment I could afford but didn’t want. But then everything had changed, and it had all been because I had taken a job no one else wanted for a man everyone misunderstood, but whether he wanted me to know or not, I saw the truth he was trying to hide.”
For me it was something between Beautiful bastard and Sebastian's desire. The book itself was quite short, but boy was it eventful. I wasn't even half way through, when so much has already happened. Some things could be overly dramatic at times, and I found the way the time moved in the story to be odd (I could never tell how much time has passed and it confused me a little), but the author did made everything feel very real. I really liked Tobias' personality, how he could be so confident and strong, while also being vulnerable and seemingly childlike lost at times. And the ending has me absolutely intrigued, so I hope there's the second book coming out soon.
So I always wonder what authors wrote about before FSoG because at this point most romances especially office romances are practically the same thing!
Ok, now that I've said that let me say this book wasn't all bad it was ok a bit too much push pull from the H but I get the appeal was surprised that it ended on a half HFN half cliffhanger wasn't expecting that even though I know it said book one. I'll read the next one although it won't be at the top of my TBR.
Ruby Moritz ran from her abusive ex boyfriend and started over, she recently graduated from college and unlike many was able to land a decent job, on her second day she's called into her bosses office and told she's going to be the new PA to the CEO Tobias Clarke.
On her first day as Mr Clarke's PA, Tobias is cold and unwelcoming, which makes Ruby all the more determined to succeed at her new job, and she makes an impression on Tobias.
The more time Tobias and Ruby spend together the more they want more from each other, but with both carrying a lot of baggage from the past can they make this work? Can they be together as a couple?
I like office romance books, I liked this one, I just couldn't get attached to the characters though it was as if they kept the audience at an arms length and it was frustrating. I'm guessing there's another book to come judging by the epilogue. A decent read.
Ruby has finally graduated and works for Clarke Industries. She’s alone losing both her parents and left an abusing boyfriend, Ben.
She gets promoted to an assistant position for Tobias Clarke, owner. He intimidates Ruby but she doesn’t back down. Tobias gives her week to handle before she leaves, she’s determined to prove him wrong.
They both discover they have chemistry but Tobias has a hidden secret from childhood. Ruby’s ex finds her and Tobias is there to help her, needing to protect her claims to be her boyfriend? Ruby is taken aback but so grateful.
Discovering where she lives, Tobias quickly moves her closer to work in a building he owns. The relationship has its up and downs but soon someone is out to destroy Tobias? Threatening harm to Ruby and more secrets are revealed. I was surprised to find out these secrets, especially the new one Ruby had no idea about?
I liked the first book but made the mistake of starting the second so that dropped the rating from a 4 to a 3.5. Sometimes, sequels shouldn’t be made. I’m sure there is more about Ben in the second book, which I’d like to read, but I don’t like where the second book even started so I put it down before I could ruin what I liked.
I enjoyed this a surprising amount for a book on Galatea! Loads of spice, plenty of build up of the relationship, a good amount of danger to keep the 2 books interesting and the perfect length for a guilty pleasure read.
I was going good even if i waited 6 hours each day. But then it's an ongoing story. Maybe these authors should think about doing real books. Some are good
