Nako you are a beast with your writing. In my personal opinion MJ isn't weird; she's just misunderstood. I completely understand MJ better, now. I can't wait to see if she reach out to her daughter and who her husband is.
Damn… about 25 years went by in this story and I still don’t know who tf is MJ’s husband. I’d say either it’s Donovan and he faked his passing or it is the Pastor. Anyway I need to go on to the next installation because this series is so freaking long…

This was the story I was feigning for!! There was so much mystery surrounding MJ in all the earlier books and I couldn’t figure her out. I truly think MJ was the realest in the group. She Marched to the beat of her own drum, was unapologetically herself and remained loyal. I think the biggest thing with MJ was her trust and attachment issues, I don’t think she ever got over the loss of her grandmother and brother- so she became numb to love. But it was so clear that she loved hard but grief was holding her back. I felt so many emotions behind MJ. Lawd! I did enjoy this one, I wish there was more insight on what happened to her brother because I have a few theories about that. 👀
Sooooo Disappointed!! An Under World Book With Mary Jane Chapters....
I was so motivated to read this book by the 5 star reviews, but I should have taken the one star reviews to heart, as should this author. I learned nothing of what made MJ who she was. What made her so emotionally unattached? Who taught her how to cook work? How did she fall into that line of work even before the UW. It's sad when a writer's storytelling, character development, and back stories regress. It's a complete travesty that we didn't learn what happened to her brother, especially after mentioning it repeatedly in other UW books. The chapters that could have been spent on answering those questions were filled with paragraphs that we have already read in previous books. That may have been acceptable if in doing that, the author retold it from MJ's perspective, but nope, just words we've already read. Thank God for Kindle Unlimited. This book was an extremely lazy effort by this author and not at all why I became a fan. This book jumped years ahead at times, and was just all over the place. MJ was a mother and had a few lovers the end. Readers prefer quality over quantity. Please let the next book be better.
....Mj left me heartbroken. Her story is beautiful and painful and she's stronger than I gave her credit for. Yet I feel no I felt like she was selling herself and deserved someone just for her and she just for them. I pray she make things right with her daughter and I feel like it's more of a fear of being rejected than to settle with the thought process of No she hates me. Yet this is just my first interpretation of her story. I'll read it again and take something else away. Nako I DON'T CARE what anyone says you wrote the mess out of this book. You quenched my soul....your gift is astounding and not mean for everyone to understand. Stay true to you and keep it up....
❤❤❤ phenomenal book read if you already haven't you won't be disappointed.
Words can't not explain the emotions I went through reading this book espcially when mj lost her brother, being that I recently lost mine I connected to that. an was emotional because I know that pain all to well. Mj is one of my favorite characters, she is stronger than most. In the other UW she was a stranger now we have her story and insight on who she truly is.we saw her emotional and in love. And who knew that she was a mother that shocked me I had to stop reading and get my life lol. I truly appreciate Nako i can just imagine all the sleepless nights and hard work an dedication to make an amazing book for everyone to enjoy.so thank you queen!! #MJStory #andanotherone.
I'm a Nako fan since beginning read all her books, The Connect's Wife series and every book since so I know she is beyond talented and one of my favorite authors. So in writing this review I wanted to be honest, The UnderWorld started good but it’s like deja every new book since book 5, The Araignments and every book in the series since. I'm all for a recap and was happy to learn about Mary Jane but to much of what I read in Resentment and Redemption then left with a cliff hanger, and cutting pasting and nothing new. Still going to read her books but us since the beginning readers(fans) need something new, I keep reading the same thing over and over. I have read long series and same inserts recaping but not whole chapters, well written as always but disappointed.
The more I read of this series, the more intriguing it becomes. I liked that although the the main character is the focus, I'm not losing insight of the other members. I found MJ the most mysterious one & has climbed the ranks to become my 3rd favorite character after Chi & Lo. I'm not so sure about Jade anymore. The info given about MJ was sufficient & secrets were revealed I didn't see coming. I'm sure other things will come to fruition in due time. As with the previous characters, bits and pieces concerning MJ were dispersed leaving my mind to continuously wonder how this story will play out, making this a wonderful piece of literature.
This story was everything I thought it would be plus more. It definitely was worth the wait. I've always liked MJ, but to know her story puts it all in perspective. I love her even more. No spoilers here. #baglady
Nako's writing is so vivid, it feels like a front row seat. When I read a book, I want to get lost in it. I want to relate to the characters, feel their joys and pains. Nako does just that. She never disappoints. If I were to speak of The Underworld members, one would never guess I am speaking of fictional characters. I love it! Keep doing your thing baby girl!
This book was a page turner. Since reading about the underworld MJ has always been a mystery. This book told told me who she was and answered a few questions about why she is the way she is with relationships. I saw some reviews felt like some details were missing but if you have been reading and following this series in order you know a lot of situations were already mentioned in previous books. I'm glad Nako didn't go into details about things we already knew. So many questions answered but a lot more need to be answered. Impatiently waiting for the next book.
I have totally enjoyed Nako's Underground series but this one is lackluster. The author pulled too much material from the last several books and I found the storyline scattered. I thought this was supposed to be MJ's back story, but I know nothing more about her. Why is she so damaged? Where did she come from? Where are her parents? What is going on with her and Papa? How did their relationship turn so cold? This book appears to be one more towards the end of the series and there are more loose ends that closure. I hope the next one is better.
This book was an exceptional read, just as all the others. I wanted to cry when Donovan died because I think she was truly in love with him. MJ was always reserved and a loner but after reading this book, I have a clear understanding why. She been through hell and back but one of the strongest in the Underworld. I can't wait to read the continuation of the Underworld series and the Arraignment. Please write in her daughter in a future book.
Just like the other pieces to the Underworld puzzle, MJ's story leaves me wanting more and more!! I see this playing out on the big screen. I know it all has to come to an end some day...I'm preparing for it...but I'm just not ready for the end yet. I love MJ even more now after reading her story...I want to know more about her and what makes her the way she is...was it her mom?? Did she honor Donovan's wish?? Who did she marry?? Can't wait for the next installment Nako...bring it in on!!!
I have always loved MJ. She has always been my favorite female character. She doesn't mess with anyone and her loyalty stays strong. Reading her story just makes my love for MJ stronger. I can truly relate to MJ. How she can so easily let people and relationships go. This was an amazing book but I feel like MJ's story isn't over yet and I can't wait to find out who she married. I think I know but I am eager to find out if my hunch is correct. Thank you Nako for your amazing novels. I always look forward to your books. (Even though I try to prolong reading them).
This book was good. It's sad that she didn't feel any attachment to her daughter. I know it's not always easy being a parent but a person should always try and make up for time missed or build a bond with their child whether they wanted them or not. I felt for her each time she lost someone she loved or cared for. It makes me wonder that if she's leaving would she be the one to tell due to Nasir threaten her guess will have to wait n see. Am glad Malachi fixed his married n hope one day miko gets that baby she's been longing for.
This story had so much sorrow almost too much to bear. Poor Emisia aka MJ, life was not kind to her. Failed relationships one after another, not to mention the losses she suffered. No one really understood her and when Donovan came along, he was her saving grace but even he was snatched away. So many other small details came out about the Underworld members. I'm getting anxious to see how this crew ends up. So happy for Lauren right now too! Only time will tell what happens!
I was so hyped to get to know MJ I couldn’t wait to get to this book so it was disappointing when I read irrelevant chapters that had nothing to do with MJ!! How does Papa and Demi always have a sex scene in someone else’s story? What the heck did Nasir watching Lauren or Lauren and the new have to do with MJ smh they had their book it should have been more focused on MJ. I’m sure there could have been so much more to MJ but what I did read was good. I enjoyed the book minus the chapters about the other characters. On to the next in the series.
This book deserves 10 stars!!!!!! MJ is still my favorite character. I guess in many wants I see myself in her! I now have a better understanding of why she move the way she moves. Nasir is still my favorite a&@ hole you love to hate. This book has my emotions on ten and running wild!!! Definitely looking forward for the next book! Nako you are officially bae❤️❤️❤️
What did I learn about MJ? Absolutely nothing It didn't give much of her back story and repeated the same story of all the other couples that we've previously read about .Now we're suppose to wait and figure out who is MJ,'s husband. Had we had more of a back story in the book that supposedly be about her we would have some type if clue who he is. I think this series us being dragged out and needs to end.
such an amazing book. I cant wait to read the next installment. I was glad that you were able to let us in and see who the real MJ was and why she is the way that she is. after reading her story I like mj. you can tell that she is really hurt by papa actions. it seems like m cant get a break in life something is always happening to her. Nasir has mj messed up If he think that he will not let her out of the underworld
I love MJ. Why I'm in tears reading her story. When an author can tap into emotions then you know they're wicked with that pen. And that's what NAKO is. MJ has a strength she's not aware of. Or she doesn't give herself credit for. I hate that life has dealt the the hand she has, but she plays it well. I love her and Lauren's friendship, it doesn't get much better than that.
MJ story was amazing! I adore the friendship her and Lauren has. This book gave me a little more understanding of MJ. She one of my favorites in this series along with Sean and Lauren so far. Still some unanswered questions. Who murder her brother and why? Why she didn’t feel a attachment to her daughter? I’m still trying to figure out what exactly happened the night of her being rape. Also her and Papa will always be a question for me. I cried when the news that Donovan died that broke MJ heart in a million pieces. Orange Moon will be one of my favorite stories of this series!
I just really love MJ's story. She endured so much at such an early age that most people would never come back from. I can totally understand her issues with emotional attachments. Losing her Grandma and brother having parents who were never there built a brick wall for her heart to hide behind. She had so many secrets that had me shocked and something's I still need answered too.
What can I say? Nako did it tf again!! I cried! I cried hard for MJ! I know exactly how it feels to love and to lose. This book was everything I imagined it to be. MJ was always that b*tch in my eyes, next to Lo Money. But I'm even more intrigued! If I can give 10 stars I would! I loved it!
Nako is one of my favorite authors. The book was good. I am now looking forward to the last installment of the series because some of the books are starting to get repetitive. I hope the reviews are embraced and soars her to new heights as an author. Nothing but love and honesty from a fan.
Once again Nako has come through and shook somethings with her phenomenal pen game! So many fell in love with Mary Jane better known as MJ and others couldn't understand why! She's definitely different on so many levels but once she drew you in ain't no turning back! You must read MJ story to see who she really is behind the heavy mascara!
It took me four days to finish. Not because it wasn't interesting. I have a lot of things to do. This book shed so much light on Mary Jane. It explains a lot of things. It brought to light how she started losing her vision. The artist, the toy, the pastor, and the baller. She loved them all in her own way. Can't wait for the arraignment 3. Keep up the excellent work Nako.
Of all Nako's books, the underworld is the only ones that get me emotionally attached. Loved it. I didn't expect for me to fall for MJ like I did, but I realize.. whoever is team Lauren is a friend of mine LOL. Also, what's up with all these selfish ass dudes... even when they're being nice... they're getting on my damn nerves
Nako you've done it again!!!! Orange Moon was everything! It was action packed fast paced and a for sure page turner. I love Papa but I don't like how he did MJ but I'm happy he tried to make it right I need MJ to do what Donovan asked her too and be happy.MJ has definitely earned her keep and is my Favorite woman of the underworld
It was a okay read . I felt like even though this was supposed to be MJ book, I read more about everyone else. I expected more information about MJ. I still have lots of unanswered questions about her. With having less books in the series I hope everything is tied up at the end and all questions are answered.
