From USA Today Bestselling author S. E. Lund comes Mr. Big Shot, a sexy new standalone full-length novel.
It all started so innocently, but sometimes the biggest moments in life start with the smallest events…
The email dropped into my mailbox about nine thirty on a Tuesday night. I opened it, surprised to see that it had been sent to a mailbox and email address I hadn’t used for ages.
Lexi911 mrbigshot69 Emergency
Hey, is this Sexy Lexi? I got your email from John. I have a 9-1-1, and need your services. Big family dinner on Saturday at the ballroom, Cipriani Wall Street, and will be surrounded by family and business associates. John said you were really high end and brainy. In other words, not your usual escort. If you’re available, wear something amazing but conservative. John showed me the menu. I’ll take a standard date with no add-ons. The usual conditions apply. Cheers, MBS
“Oh, my God…” I was in awe that anyone could write an email like that. “It’s from – get this – Mr. Big Shot 69. You won’t believe what this jerk wrote.”
Candace, my BFF, my partner in crime and the one person who could talk me into almost anything, glanced over my shoulder and read it on the screen.
"He thinks you're an escort and wants you to attend a family dinner? What kind of jerk invites an escort to a family dinner?"
"I don't know, but it's obviously someone who can't get a real date." I chewed a nail and considered. "Should I write him back?"
She smiled, an evil gleam in her eyes.
How many times had the girl got me in trouble? Luckily, I emerged from my teenage years alive, relatively unscathed, and without a criminal record, but only just barely.
So, I should have known to trust my own gut.
But I didn’t…
Now, I have to give the performance of my life and play an escort to one of the hottest young billionaires in Manhattan so I can tell the story to my girlfriends at brunch on Sunday.
When the performance starts to feel too real, will I get out with my heart intact?

It just didn't work for me. I got to at least the stopping point I make myself read to before putting on my dnf shelf (30%), but not much. I kept on getting distracted and would browse my internet browser instead of read, and that right there tells me I wasn't engaged in the story. There were things about both mcs that rubbed me the wrong way, and it felt kind of choppy in both the character thoughts and the dialogue to me. I didn't feel like it flowed all that naturally tbh. It could definitely just be me, but it wasn't working 🤷🏻♀️
...But, hey! It is only $0.99 right now on Amazon 😜
I picked this one up on impulse (I do that a lot lately). I liked the blurb. The H, Luke emails the h, Alexa in error. He gets the email address off by one letter. He's requesting an escort to a family function where he says he needs to pretend to have a girlfriend. Alexa plays along & they meet. The pretense isn't carried out too long. Luke wants to see Alexa again. She says no, that she doesn't to. The writing was a little immature for me. Luke is supposed to be a self made billionaire from an already wealthy family. He wants to make it on his own! This is first person POV, alternating Luke & Alexa. I was tempting to dnf a couple of times. There were some great parts that flowed very well, then went back to an awkward kind of pace. Luke kept saying that he didn't want a relationship. Ok, we heard you. Now let her alone. I liked the ending and their HEA. The road was rocky on the way. 2.75-3 stars
Ok so I'm really torn with this. This book had potential and the storyline was really intriguing. However it seemed that there was alot of repetitive stuff in this book. I would read something and then later on I would almost read the same thing as if I didnt already know about it. Not sure how to explain it but this book was a bit all over the place. It had good meaning behind the story but was very unorganized.
S T O P We know what she is studying, we know her father was a pilot, we bloody know about your stalker ex boyfriend, we know about his cheating ex, or about his millions of dollars, or that he hates his adopted family so stop repeating this shite every damn chapter, thank you
I loved it except the ending needed more trauma and dramaaaa. I loved everything but I kept Waiting for some major something and it kind of never came.
I did like the characters a great deal. Loves the writing style. Enjoyed the banter. Good stuff. Just needs moreeee. Good opportunity for tons of OWD or something
4.5 stars great fun! This book was a fun read! It starts out when Mr. Big shoots an email to an escort by the name of Lexi, who he wants to hire for an evening. There's one hilarious crimp in this whole thing. He misspelled Lexi's email address and instead of the email going to Lexi the escort, it went to Alexa the Columbia University MA student. She plays along with the email and we are led into a game of who's who in the zoo! The first third of the book is an hysterical hoot! The rest of the book is all romance. I had a wonderful time reading this delightful tale.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I have mixed feelings about the book.the plot was good and I liked both the protagonists but the story was unnecessarily dragged on. Most of the book I was waiting for something to happen and when it finally did it wasn't much.I was enjoyable and fun but I felt a bit bored at times. The first few chapters were nothing but long text messages sent back and forth and that felt a bit repetitive. I still had fun reading a sweet romance. Mr. Big Shot or Luke Marshall finds out his sister is being cheated on by her husband with Lexxi with two xx ,to threaten his brother-in-law he tries to bring Lexxi as his date but accidentally emails Lexi with one x and they end up together on the date.Their meet cute moment was nice to read about and their romance was spot on but I felt that they diddn't have the chemisty to go along with the romance.
So repetitive, and there's 2 more books of their story??
MY RATING SYSTEM 5 stars--WOW 4 stars--would read again 3 stars--was good, won't read again 2 stars--read it, but didn't enjoy it 1 star--didn't finish, it was so awful
Do I need to read books before this one: no Cliffhanger: I can stop
SUMMARY Alexa gets an email meant for an escort. She replies because Candace thinks it sounds fun to pretend.
Luke, soon-to-be billionaire, wants this specific escort because his twin's husband is cheating with her. He'll take Lexi to this event as a signal to Eric to get monogamous with pregnant Dana or he'll tell.
Alexa keeps waffling, Luke keeps doubling what he'll pay. He sounds desperate, so Alexa will go because he needs her, but she won't take the money. Plus, it'll be a nice break from studying.
Of course she's not the right woman, but they have a fun time. Luke's adoptive mother doesn't like her because she's a nobody and poor. Luke asks her to continue being his fake girlfriend to keep the matchmaking away.
EVALUATION This story was so full of repetition, which means it lacked substance. I felt hit over the head with Candace gets Alexa into situations, Luke has family drama because they're entitled rich people, neither wants a relationship. Then they have to talk about their experiences with their friends, and we get to read it all again. At the end of the book, family drama isn't resolved, ex boyfriend problem isn't resolved, school gets put off, but it was enough of an ending for me to leave. I checked out the next book, thinking it'd be about John or maybe Dana. Nope, Luke and Alexa get 2 more books. No, thank you.
RECOMMENDATION No one
POSSIBLE TRIGGERS (SPOILERS) Sex: arousal, talk of masturbation, multiple sex scenes Language: 83 F words, 35 Lord's name in vain, 7 S words Violence: bullying, breaking and entering, attempted abduction
What a fun read this was. The synopsis alone grabs you instantly and I was pleased that the book started off very entertaining. It wasn't quite as funny as I thought it was going to be but I chuckled every now and then. I did especially enjoy chapter 6. There were a few times in this book that it reminded me slightly of Fifty Shades of Grey just in small little comparisons. The only part I didn't really care for, was to me it felt like there was a big build-up for a dramatic event to come, and I feel like when it finally did arrive it was really small and kind of swept away. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would recommend it to other people. Not a lot of drama, pretty sweet and easy read, just fun and light, entertaining.
There were so many hilarious moments in this book. I guess I really hooked on to the book 'cause My hubby & I met online ... the emails ... you always had to make sure that each of you got where each other was coming from ... I have met a lot of other guys before I met the keeper, you can meet a lot of weirdo. Such a great read, I am new to S.E. Lund ... I couldn't put it down. What a read ... I couldn't help but laugh at Luke's family ... what am odd dynamic. I love Alexa ...love how she is so head strong, even if she doesn't realize it. I think a lot of women are more stronger than they ever realize. (I can relate to that, sure many can.)
I received this ARC for an honest review. Disclaimer - I love S E LUND therefore I love everything she writes. When I saw a new book release, I jumped for joy. This book was everything I wanted and needed in a modern day love story. The protagonist is a hunky alpha billionaire and the leading lady is a curvaceous graduate school (why couldn't I have been so lucky??). I hate giving away spoilers or too much information, so I'll end my review by saying show S E LUND some love and read her books!!
I needed something to get me out of my funk and while this did it, it wasn't exactly good? I'm a big fan of fake dating which this had, but the writing and plot wasn't very engaging. There's a lot of repetition and there's a ton of just glazing over things (smut scenes included, which is whatever) but I read this in a day so I'm thankful for that.
Is it anything new? No. Will I read the next book in the series? Also no. Is it worth reading? I enjoyed it enough I guess.
This book read like it was written by someone who speaks English as a second language. And the characters kept repeating stories to each other like it was brand new information.
Mrbigshot69@icloud.com is the son of wealthy Manhattan blue bloods, who started his own company and is on his way to becoming a self-made billionaire. Lexi911@yahoo.com is a Masters student studying International Relations at Columbia University. When mrbigshot69 emails Lexi911 out of the blue, he thinks she is the escort that was with his cheating brother-in-law two weeks ago. He plans to hire her for a family event in order to confront his BIL into repenting his philandering ways. On a lark, Lexi911 (Alexandria) goes along with it.
I’ll admit this was a promising, enticing, intriguing opening for romantic comedy. Once Mr. Big Shot (Luke) discovers his error, he asks Alexa to stay on as his fake girlfriend to ward off his meddling match-making mother. Luke is still hurting from a failed engagement to an unfaithful fiancée. Alexa is hiding from a violent ex-boyfriend. They are a likeable couple, with cute banter. But this turned out to be a rather WEAK execution of the Fake Girlfriend trope.
Here are the key elements: 1. Alexa meets Luke when he mistakenly hires her to “out” his cheating brother-in-law. This fact comes up about a dozen times. 2. Luke’s mother is a monster who keeps forcing daughters of her rich friends on Luke. This happens, or is reported to happen, repeatedly; at one point with two rich girls simultaneously invited at the same venue - yes, she’s that much of a caricature. 3. Luke is so damaged from his disastrous engagement one year ago, that he has sworn to remain a perpetual bachelor. He would rather fly to Mars than get married. As a new billionaire, he means this literally not figuratively. You will hear about this many, many times. 4. Alexa’s roommate, Candace, is unconcerned by Luke’s professed aversion to commitment and thinks Alexa should be tapping it as much as she can, or else Candy will do it in her place. In case you missed that, the author will be sure to reiterate this for your clarity as well. 5. Alexa gives in to her attraction to Luke, but runs away when he isn’t looking, because they “want different things” and “there’s no future for them anyway”. Be prepared for several repetitions of this behaviour. 6. Even conversations are repeated. For example, Alexa has to ask Luke several times about what she could expect when he brings her to the family beach house for the weekend. Apparently, they have a great time talking about all kinds of stuff but when it comes to details the same content is recycled.
In other words, the story is built on an interesting introduction, but what comes afterwards does not distinguish it amongst the well-explored Fake Girlfriend possibilities. Rather, the heavy use of repetition takes gives it the feel of filler material as we stretch towards the ending, which is a relief when it finally arrives.

Karina goes to the date with Zane and finds out what is going on she loves him and will help him to move in with their lives.
Alexa and Luke, totally have the meeting under outrageous circumstances down a pat. It all starts as a something as a fun story to tell her friends, when alexa gets a random email from a complete stranger asking her to pose as his escort for the evening. It seems that the guy had gotten her contact info from his friend and was in desperate need of a date to accompany him. It's all fun and games until alexa decides to actually go and meet this mystery man. Luke on the other hand has a secret agenda for contacting the mystery girl and asking her to be his date. It's not difficult for a to be billionaire in need of a girl who wouldn't willingly go out with him, but there's something he needs to fulfill so he needs only lexi to do that. Luke is adamant on being a lifetime bachelor and that's what's alexa can't go ahead with. I loved how this two form friendship and then a beautiful bond under totally unpredictable circumstances and then without realising go on to become so much more to each other. I loved the fun banter between these two, the trip to Hamptons, obsessive exes and a spark igniting continously into something more. Loved this one. ♥️♥️
The h was a college student at Columbia and while she was studying she received an email from her old email address that she hadn't used in 2 years. She's fair haired, short, & considers herself a geek. The email pretty much said, "He thinks I’m an escort and wants me to attend a family event with him."
"I went into plain old social science instead. Something calm & non-stressful, like international relations. I did an undergrad in Portland, and then moved to Manhattan to do my MA at Columbia. We were happy to leave the West Coast behind. I'd start my PhD next year, if all went well."
"I was CFO and in charge of the financial side of our business. I had spent my time on Wall Street." "If Eric could cheat on my very pregnant sister, taking an escort to a trendy bar while his wife --- my sister — was at home alone suffering from unrelenting morning sickness, he had no moral substance." So he decided to hire that particular escort to show his sister's husband he knows he's a cheater.
Overall, the story was ok. A lot of family and ex drama. It was a short story but I wouldn't re-read it. Ok enough to read once though.
An e-mail was delivered to the wrong person because of a typo. A twenty-something college student received it and got a kick out of it because it was meant for a professional escort. Lexi asked her BFF Candice if she should reply, and Candice replied with an evil grin. After some verification, she had a date with Luke, one of the area’s most eligible bachelors and one of the few billionaires under thirty. He had his reasons that he wanted this particular escort, and she had her reasons for impersonating the escort. Will their deceptions achieve their goals?
This story worked because I liked the character development, portrayal, and interaction. I liked the story developed and how it was told, and of course, I like a happy ending. The only thing I’m wishy-washy about is the undecidedness of the heroine. LOL
This story does have romance. It is contemporary, and it does have adult situations. So, if you like these genres, you should read this book. I’m going to give read four stars out of five stars.
This the first book in the Mr. Big series by S.E. Lund. Alexa “Sexy Lexi” receives a mysterious email from a billionaire named Luke, who mistakenly believes she is a high-class escort. Lexi agrees to play along and pose as Luke's date for a high-profile family dinner after her best friend convinces her to play along. What starts as a playful deception quickly spirals into a genuine connection, as sparks fly and secrets unravel. But with past heartbreaks, family drama, and the truth looming, Lexi must decide whether she’s just playing a role or fall for the real Mr. Big Shot. This opposites attract; deliciously fun romance kicks off with a case of mistaken identity and unfolds into a sizzling story where a fake date becomes something undeniably real. With sparkling banter and irresistible chemistry, the tale offers a flirty, fast-paced escape layered with just enough emotional tension to keep you hooked. It’s playful, passionate, and packed with charm—a perfect mix of laughter, longing, and drama.

It’s ok. Kind of cute. Predictable. Sweet. But maybe a bit boring? Ok…totally boring.
I feel like I know where this is going. Their texts are cutesy but maybe a bit geeky? Don’t get me wrong- I like geeky, but their banter is so “not hot”. Who texts that he’s getting into a fighting stance in a text to come save her from an over enthusiastic guy at a boring dinner. Um...what? Better he doesn’t text and just show up. Leave her and us guessing…
Besides his gorgeous looks (yawn), he’s the typical super rich, brilliant “been hurt, so can’t commit” kind of guy and she’s the super smart, less rich “just got cheated on, got out of a bad stalker like relationship” girl and together they’ll be boring but happy. You can be genius and still be interesting, just saying.
I liked the initial premise of mistaken identity and her following through- but now that they’re through that- kind of over it.
I did finish reading this book, but I felt like I had to push myself through it. I liked that the FMC is portrayed as an intelligent female going after her PhD and that the MMC, while he comes from money, is trying to make himself a self-made and independent man.
However, the dialogue is repetitive; the inner monologues are repetitive; and the text messages between the two characters are repeated as well, so that you see the same text messages in both the FMC and MMC POV chapters. The characters also felt flat to me.
I didn't really feel the tension and push-pull between the two main characters.
I was expecting a big climactic scene, given what we know about the FMC's ex, but any action takes place off-screen, so to speak.
At a glance: - Dual POV - Fake dating - Only one bed - Open door - HEA
Content / trigger warnings: cheating; controlling, abusive stalker ex; deceased parents; family tension; mention of the Confederacy

I guess the story is okay. It is definitely not riveting. I could not get passed the fact that the periods of time kept changing. I also had issues about repeating events. We took our clothes off and put them in the chair, brushed our teeth, and took our clothes off (on yah, wasn't she supposed to go across the hall to a different bathroom? Why did she brush her teeth with him?). Come on, read the paragraph before so there is some continuity. Editing would have helped as well. Oh, and couldn't you have found another descriptive word to describe the relationship between the H and his parents? Yes, he was adopted--we get it-- but they did parent him. I have read earlier books by this author and they were compelling and well written. No more! You couldn't give me a free book from this author and get me to read it. No to this author.
This book was really easy read and I enjoyed how the two main characters met, I thought it was really new and different and hadn’t been done before in any other I’d read. However, I did feel like there was a lot of back-and-forth where one of them would decide that that was the end and then they’d get back together like the next day or that night, just seemed a bit unnecessary for it to happen about five times throughout the book. I can understand maybe once but five times was ridiculous. It did also seem like conversations were repeated over and over again, for example, when they were going to the beach house, I think Alexa must have asked Luke at least three times on separate occasions if he wanted her there but it was the same conversation every single time. So I think with a good edit and a few tweaks this could be a really good book.
I really enjoyed the premise of this book, it was fun, a mini adventure that was not drug on forever, the truth came out pretty quickly. I like Alexa, she is down to earth, super smart, great friend, and cautious at times to a fault. Luke is sexy, cocky at times, wounded, loyal, rich guy and he believes in monogamy which is always a plus. I got frustrated with Alexa constantly changing her mind but just as quickly changing it back again. I thought Luke’s relationship with his adoptive parents was weird, he could not stand them but was around them all the time. enjoy some of the side characters and hope to read more about them throughout the series. The different storylines kept my attention, most of them were wrapped up so we will see what happens in the next book. I like this couple, I feel they are a good match and am excited to read more.
