Emotionally draining but it's so good. The chemistry between the MCs made me crazy. A love triangle. And the main character was making me want to go crazy since the very beginning till the end 😩😭

Angst in pure crystalline form. I haven't read the novel this webtoon is based on, and it is probably more detailed, but the webtoon does a fairly good job of concise story. The art is fairly simple with sparse background details and yet manages to somehow convey with the minutest shift in gaze expressions of regret, hurt, anger, pain. loss, and loneliness. The story takes the reader through all the stages of love, loss, separation, and eventual acceptance. The characters are vivid, distinctively messy people navigating through life and relationships. Somehow it makes falling in love look painful and hopeful at the same time. 5 stars I need to get a physical copy of this for my shelf.

Review to the manhwa.
I honestly didn’t think I’d love this as much as I did🥹
Yoon and Tae had to go through those hardships to become who they are. And Kwon? He needed that wake-up call to truly love Yoon the way she deserved. Without all those messy, painful moments, I don’t think any of them would’ve found real happiness, they’d have been stuck in quiet despair forever.
And Tae… my heart aches for him, but his ending felt right. He didn’t get the happiness we maybe hoped for, but he found understanding and peace and sometimes that’s even more meaningful.
All in all? A beautifully crafted and emotionally honest story where every struggle felt necessary and every victory felt earned!!!

Esta historia trata sobre soltar esa relación que parecía perfecta pero en realidad limitaba, siendo ya solo un efecto de lo cotidiano y de aquello que se daba por sentado. Demuestra lo necesario que es darse un tiempo para sanar y no forzar las cosas o los sentimientos de otros para evitar causar daño.

Ha Joyoon, phóng viên của hãng thông tấn TPA, khi đang chụp ảnh đưa tin cuộc nội chiến Syria, đã trúng đạn lạc và bị hôn mê 5 năm. Khi tỉnh dậy, người đầu tiên cậu muốn gặp là Kang Taejoo - người yêu, bạn thân từ nhỏ, hẹn hò 8 năm, tính cả hôn mê là 13 năm, bên nhau 31 năm, kết quả nhận ra người cậu muốn ở bên cả đời giờ đây đã trong mối quan hệ với một chàng trai khác. Trái tim vỡ nát, Ha Joyoon không thể chấp nhận được hiện thực, chưa từng biết đến cảm giác chia tay, giờ đây cậu phải học cách buông bỏ, cố gắng hết sức để vượt qua nỗi đau và quên đi hình bóng đó. Joyoon trở lại công ty cũ, gặp người sếp gay gắt Shin Kwonjoo và thành bạn tình với người này. Cậu sống trọn vẹn với đam mê nhiếp ảnh, đối diện với những khó khăn trong cuộc sống và đưa ra lựa chọn phù hợp.
Shin Kwonjoo xuất thân danh gia vọng tộc, sự nghiệp phát triển tốt, kết hôn với một người phụ nữ môn đăng hộ đối để tránh phiền toái không đáng có, làm bình phong che mắt thiên hạ nhưng chính anh cũng không hài lòng với việc làm này. Kwonjoo lần đầu có mối quan hệ bạn tình với Joyoon, cũng là lần đầu biết yêu ai đó nên không thể nhận ra ngay cảm xúc của mình. Dù lời nói đầy gai nhọn, nhưng Kwonjoo đặc biệt dành sự quan tâm cho Joyoon. Sau này khi biết rõ tình cảm của bản thân, Kwonjoo rất hối hận vì đã tiếp cận, tiến vào cuộc sống của cậu một cách vụng về. Anh thấy những gì mình không có ở Yoon, thấy cả bóng dáng mình - người không biết trân trọng bản thân trong Yoon và thực sự muốn có cậu trong đời. Kwonjoo tôn trọng quyết định của Joyoon, trở thành chỗ dựa vững chắc để hoài bão của cậu được bay cao hơn, chữa lành mọi vết thương đã và có thể xảy đến của cậu.
Kang Taejoo trong 5 năm Joyoon mất tích dù là người mới đã bỏ công bỏ việc miệt mài tìm kiếm, đó thực sự là quãng thời gian khủng khiếp, đáng sợ khi liên tục bị nỗi đau và tuyệt vọng dày vò. Taejoo bị trói buộc vào mối quan hệ với Youngwoo vì lý do đạo đức, anh có tình cảm nhưng đó hoàn toàn không phải là tình yêu. Taejoo cố đẩy Yoon ra khỏi cuộc đời mình nhưng khi nghĩ Yoon có thể tìm được người mới lại đau lòng khôn xiết. Anh giãy giụa trong suy nghĩ về tình yêu, sự tin tưởng và tinh thần trách nhiệm. Nhận ra bản thân cần một quyết định đúng đắn, anh chọn buông tay tất cả, mong đối phương có được những tháng ngày hạnh phúc, sống đúng với tham vọng, tập trung vào sự nghiệp và nỗ lực hết sức vượt qua quá khứ.
Youngwoo dành 10 năm quanh quẩn bên Taejoo nhưng tình cảm không được đáp lại, đã dùng cách thức hèn mọn để trói buộc người không yêu mình. Thậm trí vì đố kị, lo sợ mối quan hệ tan vỡ đã khiếu khích, chỉ trích, trách móc Yojoon. Tình yêu không đến từ 2 phía, ở cạnh nhau với cảm giác mang nợ và nghĩa vụ sau cùng cũng trở về con số 0.
Tác giả không biến chia tay thành chuyện của người phản bội và người bị phản bội. Không có ai thực sự là kẻ xấu. Joyoon đau vì bị bỏ lại, Taejoo đau vì đã buộc phải tiếp tục sống, Kwonjoo đau vì yêu một người vẫn còn đầy vết thương, còn Youngwoo đau vì dành cả tuổi trẻ theo đuổi một người chưa từng yêu mình. Mỗi người đều mang theo một nỗi đau riêng và đều đưa ra lựa chọn dựa trên hoàn cảnh họ đang đứng. Bởi vậy, khi đọc truyện rất khó để hoàn toàn đứng về một phía hay căm ghét tuyệt đối một nhân vật nào. Điều còn đọng lại không phải là ai thắng trong tình yêu mà là mỗi người đã phải đánh đổi điều gì để có được lựa chọn cuối cùng. Sau cùng chỉ mong tất cả đều được hạnh phúc dù lựa chọn của họ có là gì đi chăng nữa.
Mình cũng đánh giá cao cách truyện nói về việc buông bỏ. Buông bỏ ở đây không phải ép bản thân quên đi một người từng là cả thanh xuân, càng không phải phủ nhận những năm tháng đã qua. Joyoon không quên Taejoo, cậu chỉ dần chấp nhận rằng những ký ức đẹp vẫn sẽ luôn tồn tại nhưng không thể trở thành lý do để sống mãi trong quá khứ. Kwonjoo cũng không bắt Joyoon phải lựa chọn mình ngay lập tức. Anh chờ, quan sát, đôi khi lùi lại đúng lúc để Joyoon tự tìm được câu trả lời. Ngay cả Taejoo cuối cùng cũng học được cách buông bỏ sự day dứt và trách nhiệm đã đeo bám mình suốt nhiều năm. Mỗi người đều phải học cách từ bỏ một điều gì đó thì mới có thể tiến về phía trước.
Một điểm mình rất thích nữa là truyện không xem tình yêu là trung tâm duy nhất của cuộc đời. Với Joyoon, nhiếp ảnh mới là điều định hình con người cậu. Những chuyến đi, những bức ảnh thực địa, cách cậu luôn muốn ghi lại hiện thực khiến mình cảm giác đây là một nhân vật có cuộc sống rất riêng chứ không chỉ tồn tại để yêu ai đó. Sau khi tỉnh lại, hành trình của Joyoon không chỉ là tìm lại tình yêu mà còn là tìm lại chính mình sau quãng thời gian bỏ quên. Cậu học cách làm việc trở lại, kết nối với đồng nghiệp, nhìn nhận giá trị của bản thân và tiếp tục theo đuổi đam mê. Chính điều đó khiến quá trình chữa lành của Joyoon trở nên thuyết phục hơn rất nhiều.
Về mặt kể chuyện, Way of Partings có nhịp chậm và đôi lúc không ổn định, nhiều đoạn đối thoại dài và tập trung vào cảm xúc hơn là cao trào. Đây vừa là ưu điểm vừa là nhược điểm. Ưu điểm là độc giả có đủ thời gian để hiểu tâm lý từng nhân vật, từng quyết định đều được xây dựng từ rất lâu trước đó nên khi kết quả xảy ra không hề gượng ép. Tuy nhiên, truyện có thể tạo cảm giác lê thê ở một số chương vì nhân vật dành khá nhiều thời gian để giằng xé nội tâm.
Một điểm cộng lớn khác là tác giả cực kỳ công bằng với các nhân vật. Hiếm có truyện nào mà ngay cả nhân vật bị ghét nhất như Youngwoo cũng được giải thích đầy đủ động cơ và nỗi bất an. Điều đó không đồng nghĩa với việc hành động của Youngwoo được tha thứ, nhưng ít nhất người đọc hiểu vì sao cậu ấy lại lựa chọn như vậy. Tương tự, Taejoo không bị biến thành người xấu chỉ để hợp thức hóa tuyến tình cảm mới, còn Kwonjoo cũng không được lý tưởng hóa thành hình mẫu hoàn hảo. Ai cũng có sai lầm, có ích kỷ và có lúc hành động vì bản thân. Chính sự không hoàn hảo ấy khiến họ trở nên gần gũi với người đọc.
Đối với mình, Way of Partings không phải một bộ BL nổi bật vì những cảnh tình cảm hay drama liên tục, mà vì nó đặt ra một câu hỏi rất khó trả lời: nếu người mình yêu biến mất nhiều năm rồi bất ngờ quay trở lại, liệu mọi thứ có thể trở về như cũ không? Câu trả lời của tác phẩm là không. Tình yêu rất quan trọng, nhưng thời gian cũng quan trọng không kém. Không phải cứ còn yêu là còn có thể ở bên nhau, cũng không phải cứ buông tay là đã hết yêu. Có những cuộc chia ly không bắt nguồn từ sự phản bội mà chỉ đơn giản vì mỗi người đã đi qua những đoạn đường khác nhau của cuộc đời. Có lẽ đó cũng chính là ý nghĩa của cái tên Way of Partings – cách con người học cách chia tay, chấp nhận, trưởng thành và tiếp tục sống.

Một điểm mình rất thích nữa là truyện không xem tình yêu là trung tâm duy nhất của cuộc đời. Với Joyoon, nhiếp ảnh mới là điều định hình con người cậu. Những chuyến đi, những bức ảnh thực địa, cách cậu luôn muốn ghi lại hiện thực khiến mình cảm giác đây là một nhân vật có cuộc sống rất riêng chứ không chỉ tồn tại để yêu ai đó. Sau khi tỉnh lại, hành trình của Joyoon không chỉ là tìm lại tình yêu mà còn là tìm lại chính mình sau quãng thời gian bỏ quên. Cậu học cách làm việc trở lại, kết nối với đồng nghiệp, nhìn nhận giá trị của bản thân và tiếp tục theo đuổi đam mê. Chính điều đó khiến quá trình chữa lành của Joyoon trở nên thuyết phục hơn rất nhiều.
Về mặt kể chuyện, Way of Partings có nhịp chậm và đôi lúc không ổn định, nhiều đoạn đối thoại dài và tập trung vào cảm xúc hơn là cao trào. Đây vừa là ưu điểm vừa là nhược điểm. Ưu điểm là độc giả có đủ thời gian để hiểu tâm lý từng nhân vật, từng quyết định đều được xây dựng từ rất lâu trước đó nên khi kết quả xảy ra không hề gượng ép. Tuy nhiên, truyện có thể tạo cảm giác lê thê ở một số chương vì nhân vật dành khá nhiều thời gian để giằng xé nội tâm.
Một điểm cộng lớn khác là tác giả cực kỳ công bằng với các nhân vật. Hiếm có truyện nào mà ngay cả nhân vật bị ghét nhất như Youngwoo cũng được giải thích đầy đủ động cơ và nỗi bất an. Điều đó không đồng nghĩa với việc hành động của Youngwoo được tha thứ, nhưng ít nhất người đọc hiểu vì sao cậu ấy lại lựa chọn như vậy. Tương tự, Taejoo không bị biến thành người xấu chỉ để hợp thức hóa tuyến tình cảm mới, còn Kwonjoo cũng không được lý tưởng hóa thành hình mẫu hoàn hảo. Ai cũng có sai lầm, có ích kỷ và có lúc hành động vì bản thân. Chính sự không hoàn hảo ấy khiến họ trở nên gần gũi với người đọc.
Đối với mình, Way of Partings không phải một bộ BL nổi bật vì những cảnh tình cảm hay drama liên tục, mà vì nó đặt ra một câu hỏi rất khó trả lời: nếu người mình yêu biến mất nhiều năm rồi bất ngờ quay trở lại, liệu mọi thứ có thể trở về như cũ không? Câu trả lời của tác phẩm là không. Tình yêu rất quan trọng, nhưng thời gian cũng quan trọng không kém. Không phải cứ còn yêu là còn có thể ở bên nhau, cũng không phải cứ buông tay là đã hết yêu. Có những cuộc chia ly không bắt nguồn từ sự phản bội mà chỉ đơn giản vì mỗi người đã đi qua những đoạn đường khác nhau của cuộc đời. Có lẽ đó cũng chính là ý nghĩa của cái tên Way of Partings – cách con người học cách chia tay, chấp nhận, trưởng thành và tiếp tục sống.

honestly, this has been an emotional roller-coaster for me. it’s truly been a jumble of anxiety, insecurities, painful memories, self-discovery and eventually acceptance. there was this sense of… i don’t know, a gradually growing serendipitous happiness, too? i don’t know if that even makes sense, but i’ll say it anyway. despite knowing that every instinct was SCREAMING at our completely broken yoon that he wouldn’t be able to ever find it, life pulled through and found a way to make it possible. so, unsurprisingly, i’ve become quite invested in these guys and their strangely sweet (?) relationship. but overall, i found this manhwa incredibly well-written (from an emotional perspective, that is); even though not a lot of exciting ‘events’ happened throughout everything—which was completely fine with me, by the way!
nonetheless, i’ve loved being able to witness their growth firsthand! not just as two realistically flawed individuals, but as a yin-yang kind of union as well. and i honestly think that their relationship has matured into something quite pure, sweet and sincere over time. i can basically feel their affection through the screen at this point, lol. and the same could be said for their suffering! i’m not one to cry easily (at least not from things like this), but this one really managed to pull that off. and more than once, at that!
anyway. i’ve enjoyed this one! like i said earlier, it’s more of an emotional story than an eventful, exciting one. perhaps it’s not for everyone, but i’d recommend giving it a chance if you don’t mind all the depression and despair before the actual sweetness comes rushing in, heh. bye!!!

So I stumbled on this one because of a reel and the comments there & in reviews on the site said that it was very emotional and had them sobbing by chapter 14. I was in the mood for something emotional so I dove right in and… immediately felt like a cold-hearted b! because I did not in fact cry by chapter 14… or even get misty eyed until chapter 48 & even then the crocodile tears never came. 😅
It’s a good read, don’t get me wrong. I gave it four stars because of the unique plot and how interwoven the stories of grief and healing were. But it was not the tear-jerker I was I hoping it’d be. I didn’t really /like/ the main character. I empathized a lot more with Taejoo, his grief and pain was taken advantage of and once he realized what happened and how badly he fucked up, his whole world came crashing down — and when they reconcile & break up for real (in chapter 48 lol) that was when I finally got a little misty. Two grown men crying their eyes out will do that to ya I guess.
But, honestly, as much as my heart ached for Taejoo, Kwon was a *much* better fit for Yoon, in part because of his cold demeanor and harsh words. Yoon lives in his own little world, his worldview is vast but his focus is extremely narrow and he’s quite selfish. Which suits Kwon just fine because Kwon is also quite selfish in his own ways. I do think his coldness gets old, but it bites him in the ass later so I tolerated it lol.
The ending was a hard earned HEA, but I wish we had gotten more after things finally worked out… I wanted to see Kwon tell Yoon more about his friend (partner?) that died and how they’d navigate that. I also wanted Yoon’s family to meet him again as Yoon’s partner, and maybe some Taejoo as a friend in the future scenes with his own happiness. It feels like it ended too abruptly even tho it was an HEA especially since it took 50 chapters to get to them finally being honest about their feelings.

This is SOME GOOD FUCKING FOOD. Especially after the disappointment that was Semantic Error.
Imagine if evermore Taylor got really carried away in writing the album and ended up writing a manhua that read like a daily soap at times but still delivered through and through? The plot is basically the song right where you left me from evermore.
It's... unique. In the way, ik the author wasn't writing this for the sex scenes. Almost ALL the next scenes are entirely fade-to-black (something which I surprisingly enjoyed because I guess I was too tired of them, especially after SE). And what you gotta take away from the sex is what emotions the scenes made and not what the act was. Which is... shocking for BL (💀).
AND it almost reads like a literary fiction book at times. It is SO full of grief like EVERYONE is grieving something or someone and there are layers to their actions that always lead back to each other's grief.
It has a love polygon situation going on.... but in a way that feels deeply natural and not fetishy! Like I actually APPRECIATED seeing this polygon instead of being pestered by it.
It keeps doing, undoing, and redoing the grief cycle but it never felt cheap to me. Ik by the ending you might feel like the author just KEEPS GOING ON but I sort of felt like it made a good case for how we think we're over something, we convince ourselves of it...but we never really are.
It's kinda stellar HOW complex this felt to me. So much so that in the initial chunk I was confused by character motivations but I think that's on intent because everyone is meant to be confused.
THIS is top-tier BL. Good storytelling, not fetishizing, and REALLY complex characters.

The love between the two main characters, with their wounds and insecurities, is one of the most profound elements of the story, as it is portrayed realistically, without idealizations, and with a raw beauty.
This work reminded me of how easy it is to judge people based on their actions, but how difficult it is to understand the pain they carry behind those actions. Ha Joyoon is a war correspondent who has only two things in his life - his passion for photography and his childhood friend turn lover.
On one of his missions he gets injured and enters coma and wakes up after 5 years. The first thing he is to go back to is his lover but he finds that he has already moved on in his life and has a new partner.
The author portrays the emotional connections between characters quite well. No one is in the wrong and no one is right. It's a really realistic portrayal of how a relationship works.
I haven't read the original novel, for the webtoon although the art is good I feel the dialogue was a bit lacking ( it could also be because of poor translation) . Also I think the story should have showcased more about the trauma the mc has suffered and the 5 year time gap in mentality. Also the scenes with the family felt quite rushed.
Overall if you like the character driver story and want to read something to finish in one sitting it is a good pick.

Plot: It's good, but it was more on the drama side with mc fighting with himself, It was kinda tragic at the beginning. I can at least say that I'm not a fan of relationships that starts off from pleasure. But it was understandable why the mc took that action. The plot was not too deep. It especially focuses on mc moving on with the offer from a new man, which was his boss. There were different POVs when the story was almost at the end. It helped me also understand the other characters feelings, which made me even more glad about the ending.
Characters: The characters were their own persons with different perspectives.
I just got confused at the beginning because I was not used to reading this type of manwha. But overall it was a decent read.
Art: The art is very good. ***

Iba a darle 4 estrellas, porque lo retomé luego de dejar de leer casi todos los manhwas que seguía y ya no recordaba mucho, sin embargo tengo muy en claro todo lo que me hizo llorar y sufrir, su trama bien armada, y el buen desarrollo de los personajes, es un manhwa al que rapidamente le guardé cariño, y sus 5 estrellas lo valen, espero más adelante poder leerme la novela y disfrutarla tanta como disfruté su manhua.

Kwon is the most supportive boyfriend ever! No sé si en la novela profundizan a Kwon y su pasado o si él termina abriéndose con Yoon pero en el manhwa no lo hacen, así que no terminas de simpatizar con ningún personaje. Taejoo simplemente es un asshole egoísta que para su edad se comporta peor que un adolescente. Estoy feliz de que terminará con Kwon pero a la historia le falta conexión de personajes, development tienen pero parece un power up.
