Dr. Hashimoto and Shun, two roboticists from Ashita Institute, construct the perfect masks. Constructed by silicon and advanced fibernetics, the masks look real and align to the wearer's face with perfection.
Lost in the excitement and fun of their new creations, neither Shun nor Dr. Hashimoto suspect their masks could be used for insidious purposes.
This is the second edition of Masque, with new art by Marcelo Salaza and Zilson Costa. Edits are by Jeff O'Brien.
My name is Brian Barr. I am a published fiction author. Along with novels and short stories, I've also written comic books, including the Empress series with Chuck Amadori. I am NOT the author of God's Plan for Us, written by some other Brian Barr.
My debut novel is Carolina Daemonic, Book I: Confederate Shadows. My second novel is Psychological Revenge: The First Super Inc. Novel, and I have a short story collection called Daemensions. All books are out now on Amazon, for Kindle and Print.
Carolina Daemonic is a dystopian alternative timeline urban fantasy-horror with LGBT, steampunk, and occult elements.
Psychological Revenge is a fun, campy superhero novel with zany villains and lots of action.
Check out my short stories, some of which are in anthologies, a few reprinted on Kindle for .99 cents.
This is a very short book but boy was it good!!! Dr. Hashimoto and Shun, two roboticists from Ashita Institute have created something special. They've created some Masks that can change your physical appearance to look like anyone, they also have body suits to go with it. They have created it for fun, but other people want them for nefarious purposes.
It's such a short book that there isn't much I can say about it other than it was an entertaining and well written story and I thoroughly enjoyed this! I would love to see this expanded into a longer book. The idea of the masks and body suits was fascinating and I want to know more!!.
Rick Gregory read this really well. He gave each character their own tone and held my attention till the end.
I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts
Saw a promo for this free (as of my writing this) story so I checked it out. It a cyberpunk techno thriller that takes place in a near future Japan. I seem to be on a Japanese genre fiction kick lately after recently reading Man With No Name by Laird Barron. Anyhow, it turned out to be pretty well written and entertaining! Lots of interesting twists packed into such a short story. Recommended if your looking for a quick, satisfying fiction fix.
A marvelous invention; masks that change your facial appearances to anyone you want and body suits to go with it. Secretly dealing with the Yakuza turns the masks to ugly destruction and the wrong people face the wrath.
A cyberpunk series by Brian Barr. Tomorrow's mask is the beautiful, glamorous, or the Ugly. You choose the face.
Disclaimer. I had requested and received audible version of this book for free from the author, in exchange for an unbiased review.
What I liked about the book - This is not my usual genre. I picked it up on the recommendation of the author while I was reading another one of his books. And whatdaya know, this one isn't bad either. This one runs for ~30 minutes and tells a fast, entertaining story. I listened to it while on a lunch break and had a great time. The story is quite unique and makes you wonder how will the world really be if this tech was really available.
After listening to 4 of his books, and finding all of them to be good, Brian Barr is now one of my favorite short stories' author.
What I disliked about the book - Nothing specific that I can think of.
Narration - Another short-stories book narrated perfectly by Rick Gregory.
Very cool technothriller. Very short but enjoyable. I'd love to see the author expand on this story a bit. A robotics company is making huge technological advances in their field only to have their work stolen and used by the Yakuza. Excellent narration by Rick Gregory!
