How far should he go to find the truth?

After his sister’s death sends him into the loving arms of God, Paleontology Professor Travis Perego fights to reconcile the career he’s devoted his life to with his fragile new faith. His struggle between evolutionary theory and the Bible soon attracts the attention of the dean who makes at least one thing clear in Travis’s life. If he doesn’t figure things out soon, he’s fired.

Then a former student tells him of an experiment designed to prove evolution true. Could it be possible to retrace the path of evolution through bird DNA—to reverse engineer a dinosaur? If so, Travis could finally get answers to the questions plaguing his thoughts and threatening his career.

Desperate to know if the experiment succeeded, Travis searches the jungles of Costa Rica for the missing biology professor and the mysterious creature he created. On the hunt to find them, Travis meets Lenaia, a woman with her own reasons to search for the creature. Though both have secrets, Travis and Lenaia agree to work together before their chances of finding the creature—and the truth—evaporate into the thick jungle mist.

" Created has everything—suspense, romance, adventure, and an age-old theme that resonates with us all—what is truth? Janice Boekhoff deftly turns that question into a coin in story-form, with science on one side and faith on the other, and invites readers to turn that coin over in their hands. With an excellent set of credentials in her back pocket, Boekhoff has the writing chops to become the Michael Crichton of the CBA." — Katie Ganshert, award-winning author of The Gifting Series and Life After

A Midwest native, she writes from Iowa where traffic is nonexistent and hogs outnumber people 7 to 1 (good thing they can’t drive).

2,5/5. This book was an average indie read. It’s fast paced and has a simple writing, which made it easy to read but not really complexe and thoughtful for those who prefer that kind of read. The story is not really original and as been done over and over. Nothing great but a simple entertainment that might find an audience for people who don’t read much and want a book that can be enjoy closely to a movie.

Created is a riveting action-adventure mystery that will keep readers in suspense until the last chapter. In fact, Janice Boekhoff EXCEEDED my expectations of her follow up novel in the Earth Hunters series!! I absolutely love Janice's style of writing and the way she moves the readers throughout the whole story; there was never a dull moment and the tale was peppered with interesting scientific data, but held fast to Biblical principals. I consider Created a must-read!

If you’re looking for an insightful, Jurassic World-esq, contemporary read that dabbles in creation vs. evolution then grab yourself a copy of Created and settle in for the wild ride. Just don’t get too close to the rheasaurus!

I was graciously provided a free copy of this novel from Janice Boekhoff. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.

I stumbled onto this book and I'm glad I did. A paleontologist professor who becomes a Christian and struggles with what the Bible says and what he teaches about evolution. An unscrupulous professor dabbling in research cloning DNA who creates a creature along the veins of Jurrasic Park. A beautiful young woman studying volcanic activity in Costa Rica. All three collide in their search for truth and the creature in the jungles of Costa Rica. Romance, murder, and suspense are thrown into the mix to keep you on the edge of your seat.

If you like your romantic suspense smart, fast-paced and daringly original, Created is for you! It deals with hard-hitting themes of genetic mutation, evolution, creation and how far is too far in our quest for answers. The heart of the book takes place in the jungle, and it felt so real, I thought I was there! Ms. Boekhoff did an excellent job weaving action, romance, and the main characters' internal journeys. The ending had me pumping my fist in the air--I highly recommend this book!

Excellent story

Janice weaves a wonderful, imaginative, faith filled story full of unexpected twists and plots. I love the science woven in with faith lessons. Janice writes of topics not often included in Christian suspense fiction. Both books in the Earth Hunters series are refreshingly unique and entertaining.

Exciting book, looking at what is truth and grappling with some difficult questions of faith vs science. Lots of adventure through the jungles of Costa Rica searching for a creature created in a lab that may or may not be a reverse engineered dinosaur.

I found this story very interesting, mysterious, full of intrigue, scary..... Reminds me of Jurassic Park. Very good development that kept me reading to get to the end. The really bad people were kept a secret till the very last but they got their just reward. Now on to the last book!
