The Last God

Rate this book
The General of the Unlata Kai has decreed that the time of her people is over. Jane’s race of god-like beings has caused enough chaos, leaving floundering hybrid races and war-ravaged planets throughout the universe. Kaldara, their home, is about to fulfill her wishes. When the planet goes, it will take her and the last of the Unlata Kai with it.

Logan Klevo sets out with the crew of the Maxim on a mission to warn the leaders of Kaldara of their imminent demise. Their announcement triggers a violent battle between gods. One of them holds knowledge that could restore the Maxim to its full strength. The possibility of a defense against the ruthless army of Matouk that destroyed Logan’s homeworld fills him with something he’s been missing, hope.

Abducting an angry and suicidal god might not be a wise choice, but if the god of war can learn to love,
they both might discover a future worth living for.

Wow, this book had some AMAZING characters and a really cool concept. I think the author did an awesome job of developing the character's backgrounds, as well as revealing all the details of the Unlata Kai throughout the story line. The Unlata Kai as a race were really well developed and explained. This book was definitely not what I expected it to be (in a good way) and the character of "Jane" really surprised me. She's one of the most interesting characters I've read in a while. I think her internal struggles and interactions with others were so interesting given all that she has been through in the story and her past. I enjoyed the romance in this and didn't feel like it was overdone, if perhaps a bit rushed into initially. If I had any criticisms, I would say that I think the story could do with some grammatical editing, as I noticed some sentences that were completely missing words (so that the sentence didn't make sense) and also some typos throughout the novel. An editing once-over would definitely improve this! This didn't ruin the readability at all but it might be a bit distracting for some readers. I also think the climax of the story may have been a bit rushed but honestly it was still really well done! Very surprised and pleased with this story. A great read and perfect for anyone who loves sci-fi romance!

Don’t be thrown off by the “romance” in this sci-fi/romance hybrid—even the most squeamish of the genre will be delighted by this action-packed thrill ride of a novel.
While reading works of fiction that mix technology and magic, my skepticism usually gets the best of me. That’s not the case in The Last God. The world you’re introduced to and its rich history are so intricately woven that you won’t bat an eye as you’re propelled through this dramatic page-turner.
Also noteworthy is the alluring and complex cast of characters, which is as three-dimensional as the galaxy they maneuver through. How could a god (or Unlata Kai) possibly fall for a mere (not to mention severely damaged) human man? The premise seems implausible. The delivery begs to differ.
I highly recommend The Last God to anyone prone to the sci-fi and fantasy genres, as well as anyone looking for a great story to get lost in. This is a fun, fast read that will touch you and leave you aching for more.

An enjoyable read. I was surprised by the romance blended into the science fiction plot, but pleasantly surprised. It might have been a shock at first because I did not know the characters or their intentions well enough and it caught me off guard. They developed throughout the plot, but despite the dual perspectives offered, they were still a little mysterious to me. The conflicts were clear and I enjoyed the world building. (Maybe there could have been more, but I love lots of world building.)

I would definitely recommend this to people who love reading about the interaction of different "races" in space. I was able to finish it easily because it kept my attention and I was invested in their conflicts, wanting to see if they were resolved.

It was well written and I have already ordered another book by Davis and look forward to reading it.

Another 7 out of 10 book. The story has an interesting premise, just didn't draw me in as well as I thought it should have.

Fun, exciting read! Great blend of sci-fi and romance (not overdone), plenty of action and an all around well paced book. Davis creates a unique world with well developed characters. Will be looking for more from this author!

When I picked up The Last God at a Women's Expo in Michigan, I did not expect to be swept away into such an engaging and heroic tale. This novel had me hooked from its first sentence to its last. Throughout the entire read, I could not put it down; it felt like there was never a dull moment. The characters were well developed and intriguing to follow. This sci-fi/romance is action-packed, rich with intricately woven descriptions and backstories. To feasibly describe how much I loved this novel seems almost impossible. However, once I completed The Last God, I went out the very next day to meet with the author at the local Comic-Con. I left with two more of her novels.
