In the city of Magic's Bend, I protect what's mine. No matter what.

To the world, I'm a just a Conjurer. To my closest friends, I'm a FireSoul--a dangerous Magica with forbidden powers and a dragon's soul. The downside? If anyone discovers what I am, I'm dead. So I lay low, kicking butt with my weapons, not my magic.

Things get ugly when I witness the murder of a powerful vampire ally and become the key suspect. Soon, I'm hunted by the sexiest, strongest supernatural I've ever met. Ares is an unheard of vampire hybrid, and it's hard to say if he wants to kiss me or kill me.

I've got three days to catch the real killer. The bad news? It will take my forbidden magic to succeed. But can I control it, much less keep my secret with Ares watching my every move? Especially when the stakes get ever higher?

I'm used to protecting others...now I have to protect myself.

Fugitive of Magic is a fast-paced fantasy mystery with a kick-butt heroine, a tough hero, and magic that will blow your socks off.

I've been looking forward to really getting to know what makes Nix tick as she's one who usually seems left behind whilst her two fellow FireSouls go out collecting magical artefacts and fighting off a few Demons along the way! It was high time for Nix to step out from behind the shops counter and have adventures of her own. Oh she's always got her 'sisters' backs and she's no slouch in a fight but as Cass and Del have uncovered their past ( not to mention found a couple of hunks along the way) I really wanted Nix to finally see herself as pretty bad ass! Even the synopsis belittles her conjuring powers and let me tell you there's been numerous occasions when it's been that very ability that has kept them alive.
So what did I think? Well it starts with a bang as Nix and their shop are attacked which leads her to go chasing after the thief except where she ends up isn't anywhere she expected. Then there's the poor guy Nix sees murdered and when she tries to save him it lands her in very hot water. Her magical signature is all over the dead guy and as he was an ally to the Vampires they demand justice. Well allow me to introduce Mr tall, dark and dangerous Ares aka the Enforcer and when he slaps a magical collar on Nix it just happens to be one that will blow her head off in three days! Ok then, escape the scary Vampire Enforcer, prove she's innocent oh and most importantly don't let anyone discover exactly what Nix is. It's going to be a walk in the park except Ares is on her trail!
As usual it's fast and furious with more than a few historical and mythological elements thrown in. I love the way the action crosses continents and there's always something so cool thrown in. This might just be the beginning of Nix facing off with the Vampires but it's a fun ride and I'm definitely onboard to read more.
This voluntary take is of a copy provided for me and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe a fair opinion

I’ve enjoyed Cass and Del’s journeys and all the crazy that has come with it, but Fugitive of Magic is my favorite starting off point book of all of them. There are similarities in how things occur, but I like that we are getting a little twist to Nix’s journey than we got with Cass and Del’s in that seems like hers will be a little more structured in nature than the others. I enjoyed being in Nix’s head and am looking forward to seeing what gets unearthed about her past and how it will affect her future. Ares had definitely peaked my interest and I can’t wait to see how he turns Nix’s world upside down. The pacing was good and I enjoyed how well everything flowed. Hanging out with Cass, Aiden, Del, Roarke, Conner and Claire was fun as always and I love how they are always backing each other up. And I’m quite interested to see where Ms. Hall takes us with this series and what changes, if any, it will bring to all involved.

Another amazing book with Nix as the main character. Add in her Firesoul sisters and their boyfriends & wow. Next, in steps Ares and the vampire court and things step up in intrigue. I'm never disappointed when I read a book Linsey Hall writes, her magical ability to bring to life not only the characters, but the scenes make me feel as though I am there in every page. I highly recommend this book and series to everyone, you won't be disappointed.

It's always the quiet ones you need to watch right...lol Nix the last of our magical triumvirate to have her very own adventure starts off with a bang, being accused of murder, see it really is the quiet ones you need to watch who would have thought Nix could murder anyone right??? lol Well pretty much everyone except the dashingly gorgeous Ares, vampire hybrid and the strongest supernatural Nix has been around, it's going to be fun watching Ares change his mind about Nix lol

Fugitive of Magic

This book is a fast read where you really engage with the characters. I like Nix and her friends. Her origins are a mystery which I'm sure will come up in book 2 . Ares is a mystery. Hot as heck, but I like him. We will see what the trials bring. The archaeology aspect of Nix, Cass and Del's jobs are fascinating also. Happy reading!

If you have been following this series than you know it's Nix's turn to spin the magical wheel. She is accompanied by Ares a powerful vampire and some really creative magic that is almost adolescent like in it's execution but still fun to read about if you a really a young spirit at heart.Though some of the subject matter is dark it's told through pink hued spectacles and is entirely safe to read.

Fugitive of Magic is more like introduction to Nix’s story and while I like the characters and their world and magic and think the book is pretty funny and entertaining but there isn’t much on story and plot and romance to keep my interest to continue or try Del or Cass’s story.

Vampire vs Fire Soul

I am finally starting Nix's story and it is full of mystery and a hot connection with Ares. Being a half vampire, half magicka makes Ares formidable. Nix is pretty weak in the romance department so there is mostly just a lot of arguing and threats, which I enjoyed. I love that Cass and Dell and the others have parts to play still.

this book was like a detective story wannabe. of course they solved the mystery (else, the main character would die), but there was nothing cunning or brilliant about it. if it was rather forced, impossible, and too convenient for the author. it was just horrible, didn't make sense, and mind-numbing.

and since the second series, i already predicted that there was a pattern and this book kind of proof it. meet the hot, rich, powerful dude that turned out to be their soulmate, faced some challenge, got some unwanted power, their ultimate purpose to save the world revealed, got a poison that was like a ticking bomb, got kidnapped and jailed a lot, found out about their pasts, almost failed, received a crazy too powerful magic, embraced themselves, saved the world. boring-_-

recap:

Nix's story started with her couple of demons who tried to rob ancient magic. they killed them easily except for one demon who could multiply itself like Naruto and they were overwhelmed by it. and out of NOWHERE, a different demon sneaked inside the store and stole something so Nix chased it but they almost got away with transport magic. determined with her motto that no one stole from her, she followed it into the unknown. she ended up in a dark alley. the demon who stole something chose that time to use its power, cracking the alley and making a chasm, but Del easily jumped over, killed the demon, and retrieved her stuff back.

But then, she witnessed a scuffle from afar. at first she didn't want to help, but she saw the victim to be an old guy so her goody in two shoes heart relented and tried to save him (he was stabbed). he was dying and her firesoul's desire to steal power was overwhelming but she was determined not to steal (idiot) so she just let the guy died. she immediately ran away, afraid to the suspect who killed the old guy.

Nix returned to Ancient Magic, found out that the demon stole an original artifact, a pot, with unknown use and went to P&P with her sisters. when she returned, (cliche alert. seriously, 3 series, about three sisters, and the pattern was the fucking SAME! hot guy who turned out to be their soulmate in less than 3 chapters, even the description to describe this hot guy was more or less the same! wow, very original. at this rate, i already skipped through some parts) a hot guy who made her senses ran wild accused her for the murder of the old guy in the alley called shadowland because her magic was 'everywhere' (good girl in two shoes turned out to be an idiot). turned out, this hot guy was (cliche alert again. i bet he was freakin rich too) a very powerful Vampire called the Enforcer who ruled over vampires. (-_- ← this was my expression the whole time i read this).

he put a collar around her neck that would explode in three days if she didn't came to the vampire's court to be trialed and put 2 vampire guards on her apartment. she called for del and cass's help and with Connor's potions, they managed to sneaked out, went to the Darklane to find some clues. her dragon sense brought her to an old women's house who asked for candy for payment, but she didn't tell her anything useful, only that the Marin (the murder victim) used to visit an apartment down the road. she visited those apartment but the women there refused to acknowledge she knew Marin and told her to go away. to make things interesting (and cliche), the Enforcer himself appeared.

he took her to his (gorgeous, modern, rich, cliche) apartment and told her to sleep over because he wouldn't let her out of his sight. turned out, the Enforcer was only half vampire so he could walk on the sun and his name was Ares. the next morning, they agreed to go to the Shadowland again, visiting the same women who told Nix to go away. while Ares distracted the lady, Nix with invisibility potion sneaked in. after bits of trouble, they went out with a medal on hand. Nix asked Dr. garisso about it but he didn't know so he asked a friend. while they wait for Garisso, they went to ask another vampire.

the vampire was skinny because he avoided blood but when he smelt Nix, he lunged to bit her but she easily knocked him out. they ate fancy lunch and Ares told Nix that vampire usually lived in their own realm and Shadowland was kind of the middle ground between Earth and their realm, that was why it was always dark there. he also said that he couldn't remove her collar alone, they need two other vampire to take it off, and they need to prove her innocent to do that.

then Dr. Garisso replied and said that they could find clue about the medal in supernatural part of London. they tried to visit the building, a station, on the address that Dr. Garisso gave but they faced a lot of obstacles from mild repellent charm, phantom bee sting, until dozens of demons security and Nix was badly injured so they had to abort mission.

Ares booked a fancy hotel where they could stay the night in. he healed her with his vampire blood (wtf?!) and called his men to scout the station to find other entry. then, Nix overheard him talking with someone, saying that Nix was the one who killed Marin and they witnessed it. clearly, someone tried to frame her. Later that night, Nix had a dream when she was back in victor's dungeon. he forced her to kill someone or he'd kill her parents. she got a vision that he already killed her dad because she failed the first time but she failed again now. then she woke up.

the next day, Nix and Ares went in to the secret organization through the bathroom's station. they almost got recognized by the guards so they knocked the guards out and pointlessly wandering and facing stairs challenge only to found a room for of secrets but not helpful for them. they got caught by the members and thrown into jail. after some solving some very bad attempt of riddle (from the author), they managed to blew up the floor and escaped. they kidnapped one of the member to ask where to find the master of secrets, their leader and they found him.

At least the leader was more cooperative. he said that Marin was on a secret mission in southern French, to meet this Cathar people who was supposed to be extinct. when they exited the building, they were attacked by bunch of people who tried to kill nix. they tried to questioned one of the members but they killed themselves and their body vanished afterwards. then, they teleported (it was still unclear wether Ares could teleport or something else) to one of Ares's house in Paris, of course overlooking the Eiffle tower and after resting a bit, they went directly to visit the Cathar.

of course the place was protected. they almost got killed by rockfall but arrived shortly after to the castle. they were allowed inside and the leader of the group told them that Marin came with other younger man (his name was Aleric), stealing their most guarded secret. but they got ahold of the younger man's robe so they could remake the event that happened. long story short, Marin was stealing one of the Cathar's secret, Aleric came and tried to kill him but he blasted Aleric away, the Cathar member came but they escaped. but it was obvious (based on their intuition. for me, it was not obvious, more like ridiculous) that Aleric killed Marin so now, with enough information, they could find him.

but first, they returned to P&P to ask for the others' help and rest for awhile. they decided to attack at midnight in hope to catch him off guard and Nix's collar was disabled temporarily now that she was proven to be halfway guilty. when Ares accompanied Nix back to her apartment, they were attacked by 6 of the same attacker from London and Nix woke up bounded. Aleric showed, saying that he stole the secret that could 'change everything' for a 'master', killed Marin with pleasure and the vampire court would come any minute, presenting her as the murderer. but he was an idiot and he didn't realize that Doyen, one of the vampire was a mind reader. Doyen found out that Nix was a firesoul but she also found out that Aleric was the murderer. that's when Nix's friends came.

Nix saved Doyen from being kidnapped by a demon (weak vampire), and Aleric tried to escape (he had this dark magic and he could destroy things). there was a bit fighting and Aleric was impaled on a steel but before he died, Nix used her firesoul gift to steal his destroyer and infroma magic and found out the secret from Cathar castle: dragon returned. they returned to talk about their next move about this fanatic dragon group and Nix was planning to run away when Ares came. he said he knew what she was and he was fine with it (of course) but Doyen and Magica (other 2 Enforcer) wanted to turn her and her friends in. so nix would still be trialed to prove her trustworthiness.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

I was a little nervous to start this book, not because I didn't think it would be amazing (which it is), but because I was on the fence on whether I liked Nix or not. When I read Cass's books I instantly loved her character, and I became really excited about reading Del's books after being introduced to her, especially after finding out about her connection to death. However I was never able to form an opinion of Nix - did I like her, did I not? Was she good enough to be my girls sister? Well I instantly connected with Nix's character, there is something about her that is a little more... human/unsure? Not sure 100% how to describe but you know that little bit of doubt most of us experience, especially when we compare ourselves to others, where we just don't think we're all that special, not sure what we offer? Yeah, that's what Nix has, especially when it comes to her abilities, and it really made me connect her character as I could relate.

Now I just want to take a minute to talk about the girls' hoards - I am a little sad that none of the girls are as treasure hungry, gold and gem hoarding dragons that see all the pretty sparklies and need to own them, even if someone else already owns them (this would 100% be me FYI). I love that all their hoards reflect who they are, and they are all surprising in their contents but the magpie in me just wants one of them to be like the dragon, Smaug, from The Hobbit, sleeping in a pile of gems and gold.

Right, back onto this book - I think everyone will agree with me that Ares is drool-worthy. I don't know where all these glorious guys come from, but I appreciate it Linsey, I really do. So far I have really liked his personality and how he reacts to Nix, though I will be interested to see what comes next with the trials. I have to say I really like the introduction of his species (read it to find out what he is) as I don't remember any mentions in the previous books. I can't help but think there was a little foreshadowing going on when discussing the 3 power people for their society and the only way that anyone can make a change is to either have the majority vote or rule everything (sorry, I probably couldn't have made that more vague if I tried).

Anyway, I really loved this book. I started it just before bed last night, only intending to read a chapter, and ended up devouring the entire books. Very glad I don't know what time I went to bed as I don't want to know how little sleep I went to work with today.

Pro's & Con's list then some insight on some things :)

**As a side-note I read this book first but then I realized that I should read Cass's series then Del's first so now I'm on the third of Cass's series trying to catch up.

Pros
1P-Great female characters - especially that they look out for each other first.
2P- Great story

Cons
1C- A little Stockholm syndrome-esque?
2C- Repetitious still
3C - Almost unoriginal to itself?

1C- The reason I bring up Stockholm syndrome is because even though Nix gets her life thrown away the moment death is put around her throat she still thinks her captor is....cute? More like hot and sexy but...he also threatens her? And it's kinda of taken as a misunderstanding because he's just doing what is the[his] law but he's (gathering from his fame & name as The Enforcer) done this to hundreds of people so how does this time make him softer? It may be a personal taste but I find it weird, especially when he gets her food and she thinks so highly of him...cause he feeds her? Like a regular person should?

2C- Still a bit repetitious with going over Connor's, Claire's, Cass's, Del's, etc... powers, locations, relationships, and more over and over.

3C- I almost scared to say this last one because like pointed out earlier (**). But there is a character called The Origin and now there's The Enforcer? And both (in my head) look almost the same even to the point where they have multiple powers? It could be more creative on this front at least.

I really do like this series ideas with the female characters lead especially when at times they think of each other instead of falling into their male captors (or male counterparts) arms. They put each other first, and it's a great urban fantasy - honestly it's really hard to find anything like this! But it just needs more editing! Again I don't know how editing works but it at least needs a few more look overs before being published!

I wish the romance sub-plot was a little less formulaic. In each woman’s sub-series a handsome, powerful, extremely wealthy man has immediately been introduced as love interest. It’s true that each one has been a little more organic and compelling than the previous, but it’s still extremely formulaic and takes some of the interest out of the plot. I have to admit, though, I’m not yet tired of seeing male leads who respect their female counterparts. Ares is an interesting character. He isn’t your typical brooding, seductive vampire. He’s a bit more human than that, which is a nice approach.

Nix is my favorite sister to read about. She has a sort of wholesome, sensitive vibe going, and it brings something new to the mix. Both Cass and Del were very much on the typical urban fantasy snark end. But this hasn’t in any way stopped Nix from being tough and self-reliant, which is good. She has the most utilitarian of the girls’ abilities–conjuration–but hasn’t yet absorbed the powers of any others, putting her at a bit of a disadvantage. Of course we know that won’t last, no matter how much the idea of stealing powers disgusts her. We do find out some of why that’s the case as she starts to remember bits and pieces of her past (much as what happened to the other two women).

Del almost had to worry more about her Phantom side being discovered than she did her FireSoul side, so it’s interesting to get back to the FireSoul thread. Ares’s mother used to hunt FireSouls, and the vampires do turn them in to the Magica when they’re discovered. So Nix still has to worry about displaying her powers.

This is a great start to the latest sub-series in this world, and I look forward to reading more!

These books really are a balm for the soul when all you want is an easy, quick and uncomplicated read that you will also really, really enjoy. Obviously there are some tropes that are repeated in every series of this, well, mega-series, but you know what? I don't actually care. Maybe the one actual problem I have with this is that it could be less heteronormative overall, but I knew what I was getting into with this.

I just have to say though - I really laughed, for quite some time, at the fact that the main hero's name is... wait for it... Ares Warhaven. Now, listen, I get Ares. Kinda. Hell, I even like the name (even if it's gotten from a greek god). But Warhaven? Really? Isn't that maybe, I dunno, laying it on a little thick? Like, you know, the dude is already named after the god of war, was it really necessary to have "war" in his surname, too? Hilarious. But you know what? These books are so extra overall, and that's also a big part of why I love them.

Great storyline, very novel plot ideas and characters. Terribly written. It's almost as if the author was like, "I'm just going to skip having an editor and see if I can do this myself. " they mixed up eccentric and eclectic early on in the book. I'm not usually one to throw a book out just because of one issue like that, but the book was riddled with errors throughout. That was just the first one. The dialogue was not very believable, and there were huge number of plot inconsistencies. Overall, sticking it out to the end may have been far more trouble than it's worth. I hope they got an (better) editor before they published the sequel.

Something in Nix's predicament at the end of the book has me looking forward to the next books. I know Nix has some challenges ahead to prove herself to others, but there is an ultimate goal of finding someone that's going to be after her for what she knows. Also, I'm curious to see how what she's learned ties to her and Cass and Del. There is always connections with what we come across.

I bought this back in 2017, and I don't know what 2017 me was thinking because aspects of this sounded good, but others didn't sound like my type of thing. I'm kind of over the sexy vampire dude thing, but I guess back then I wanted to try anything because I didn't really know what my taste was, or maybe it's changed. Either way the vampire romance stuff doesn't appeal to me, but I decided to give this a try anyway. I'm not planning on continuing with the series, though.

I found this to be pretty average, not great, but okay I guess. It was thankfully short enough that I could get through it quickly. The story was not even 200 pages, and I think this is a bit odd given the age group it is targeted at. I would say it would probably be classified as young adult, although the age of the main character would put it more in the new adult category. Even so, for even a young adult fantasy 200 pages is very short, and I felt like the author was trying to cram too much into those pages. The story takes place over four days I think but it felt like the events needed to be spaced out more.

I appreciated some of the pop culture references, but after a while it started to feel like there were too many of them. One or two can be interesting and work to flesh out the character, but too many start becoming noticeable and it took me out of the story.

The characters were not fleshed out much and didn't seem like real people to me. They were pretty flat. There was not much to differentiate Cas and Del. Even Nix was pretty bland. There was some characterization hinted at but there wasn't much time to really go into detail because of the length of the book and how much of the plot the author tried to cover.

The mystery was interesting enough I guess, though ai think the world-building could have used a bit more work. There just wasn’t a lot of room for world-building with all the other stuff going on. I was intrigued about the concept of Firesouls and how they can steal other people’s magic and are somehow related to dragons. I did want to know more but not enough to buy the sequel.

It did seem like romance was thrown in at the last minute and rushed. Yes it was hinted at throughout but it was only really discussed in the last few pages. I was okay with the romance; I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate it. It was just okay, though I don’t think vampire romance is for me.

Fugitive of Magic, Dragons Gift :The Protector, Book 1

Linsey Hall

I’ve been following Linsey since Braving Fate, the Mythean Arcana series came out. I love her ability to mix History, Romance, and Fantasy all together is a way that makes sense! Shes done it again with her newest book, Fugitive of Magic, Dragons Gift, The Protector Book 1. I have to say this is the best one yet!

This series begins the story behind Nix, or Phoenix Knight, as she calls herself. One of a trio of strong, curvy, magically talented females with alpha tendencies and a "you don’t scare me" attitude. All 3 meet adversity headon, and they don’t lose many scuffles! All of their adventures deal with finding out who and what they really are, as they really don’t know much beyond when they first met.

Nix, Cass and Del are 3 super talented ladies, each having different skills sets, which blend well together. They are more than best friends, they are sisters and don’t try anything they have each other’s back!! Together they run a magical treasure-hunting shop in Magic’s Bend, Oregon called Ancient Magic.

Nix is the Protector of the trio, and looking out their front shop window, she sees trouble with a capital T coming toward Ancient Magic. Deciding they needed to “kick butt”, Cass and Nix meet “Trouble” outside and begin to defend their shop. Things were going pretty well when “trouble” began to multiply. Summary:
Tucked away in a little place in Oregon called Magic’s Bend lives 3 firesouls. Nix, Cass and Del own a magical treasure-hunting business which was about to get robbed or at least the robbers thought. Nix finds herself following 2 of the robbers into an unknown portal and ends up in a dark alley but where? She saw something she should not have, she tried to help and in return she is being held by the Vampire courts as a suspect to a murder.

What I thought of the book:
Let me start off by saying this book is an easy read if you don’t have young children, several crochet projects or a busy life. (Like who doesn’t have a busy life)I don’t do spoiler alerts and very seldom do I do quotes from the book. I want each reader to have their own experience with the book.

I thought this book was well written, the author snatches you to attention from the very first page and holds on to your attention until the very end, and the story doesn’t confuse you when it goes from present to past. The author does leave you hanging on to your seats at the end but hey that is what a good 1st book of a series does.

Ending:
Can Nix find the real murder in time or will the Vampire court find her not only guilty of a murder but the magical secret she is hiding. What will happen to Cass and Del if Nix is found guilty or if her magical secret is discovered? Read the book to find out.

In the magical world Fire Souls are to be hunted down and killed. They have the ability to suck the power out any being. However, three women lost their memories when they were dumped into a field at teenagers. They are Fire Souls and they live their lives under the radar.

Nix own a relic shop. Some are real and others are knock offs. One thing for sure is that she doesn't tolerate people trying to steal from her. When she thwarts an attempt of demons stealing from her store she is thrust into a realm where she witnesses a murder of an elderly man. She tried to help him but failed.

Unfortunately, this man was an important ally of the vampires and now they think she is responsible for his death. They have sent their enforcer, Ares, a handsome vamp (Aren't they always?) who saddles Nix with a neck brace that will cause her head to explode in three days if she can't prove her innocence. What ensues is a romping good reading adventure!

I really enjoyed this book much more than I ever expected. The world building was good, great characters and snarky humor (In my opinion the best kind). While the read is rather short (220 pages), nothing was left out. If the quality of this reads follows into the next installment I may have found a new series favorite. Let's hope I'm right. Highly recommended!

Well this was entertaining! I read this book as part of a MacHalo Group challenge to utilize my KU more and for some reason failed to see this was part of a longer series. I didn't feel like I missed out but was happy to see I could start from the beginning as Nix (the main) had two pals who seem like their stories have already been told (and they have!)

This story was entertaining. I loved Nix, the main character, she is quirky and pretty awesome - she can conjure weapons out of thin air and knows how to use them. At the start she gets framed for murder and has to force the Vampire Court which does not believe in due process. Basically she has three days to prove her innocence, at first she doesn't even have that option but she manages to convince the vampire enforcer to let her help out on his investigation.

She is funny and pretty awesome but not over the top. I guess my biggest issues will probably be solved by actually reading the other books - I felt like some things were glossed over and it was probably because they were already covered, duh! I did feel like Nix was a bit too quirky - just slightly too much at a couple moments, and while I was nervous about the potential romance being cheesy I'm happy to say that was not an issue.

Fugitive of Magic is the first novel in Linsey Hall's third Dragon's Gift series. Nix has a couple of special talents besides being a Firesoul. First, she can conjuror items with her magic. The less complicated the item, the less magic it takes. She can also stabilize and transfer magic from ancient items into other items. Since her magic is not offensive in nature, she has learned how to use most weapons to protect her friends and their store. When a group of demons attacks Ancient Magic to steal a particular item, she tracks them down by following them through a portal. Finding herself in another part of the city, she recovers the item but then witnesses a murder. Unable to save that person's life she leaves the scene of the crime to return home. That's when the vampire enforcer called Ares accuses her of murder and is prepared to take her in front of the vampire council. Can Nix prove her innocence, and catch the killer? Or will Ares refuse to believe her?
Overall, this was an exciting beginning to the third Dragon's Gift series. The plot is fast paced with plenty of action. Just note that each Dragon's Gift series should be read in order to truly appreciate the continuity from one series to the next.

I really enjoyed this book and loved Nix as the main character. I haven't read Cass or Dell's stories yet, as I didn't check the order before starting this one, so will go back and read those before continuing with this series.

When Nix witnesses a murder, she tries to save the man, but unfortunately that turned out creating more problems for her. The vampires believe that she has done it! She now has three days to prove her innocence, find the killer and convince the Vampire Council before the vampires carry out their punishment. Luckily, one of the Vampire Council members doesn't really believe it was her and helps her to find the real killer.

Nix was a great main character with a secret is trying so hard to keep hidden and powers which save her time and time again. Her conjuring powers are fantastic and her FireSoul powers are something I have not read about before (other than in the novella for this series) and I can't wait to see how the others use their FireSoul powers as well.

Ares, the Vampire Enforcer, was another great character and I am looking forward to seeing how their relationship develops in the next book.

I can;t wait to read the series of the other characters and then finish this one now!
