Billionaire heir and notorious playboy Johnny Creel lives the good life. A tabloid favorite, he spends his time throwing his money around and bedding a different woman every night. The man's never had to work a day in his life, despite owning a successful company.
Rosemary Sutton spends her days as Johnny's overworked and underappreciated administrative assistant. Not only does she keep his company up and running, but she's also stuck running Johnny's personal errands. Her busy nights are spent doing community theater as she pursues her Broadway dreams.
When Johnny’s mean streak rears its head one too many times, Rosemary tells him exactly what she thinks of his spoiled rich attitude before walking out. Soon after, the Creel family suffers a reversal of fortune and all their assets are frozen.
Lost and alone, Johnny seeks Rosemary's help to survive without his money. He tracks her down at the theater and is mesmerized by her performance as leading lady in the musical. For the first time, he sees her as a woman and not his personal servant. A beautiful, talented woman with a tender heart...
Rosemary graciously agrees to help Johnny in his time of need and finds herself fighting an attraction to a man she thought she hated. Finally humbled, he's funny and kind, not to mention dashingly handsome. When Johnny confesses his feelings for her, she can't help but question his sincerity.
Is he a changed man, or will he go back to being "Johnny Creep" if his assets are eventually unfrozen?
Losing His Shirt is the first book in the Wall Street to Broadway series, a collection of fun, sexy romances that can function as standalone novels. If you like light-hearted romance, simmering sex scenes, and entertaining stories with a positive message, then you’ll love this series where wealth meets art. It's the billionaire trope...with a twist.
Linda Fausnet is the author of several genres of books, including romance, LGBT fiction, chick lit, and middle-grade. She has also written numerous screenplays of various genres. This book is a combination of drama, humour and steamy sex.
It starts with Johnny owning a company that had been given to him by his father. He didn't actually do any work there, just let his employees do everything. All he did was spend money. That attracted women like a magnet making it easy for him to be a Playboy. Turned out he was particularly good at sex so he liked that part of his "job". That's what his life consisted of so when his father's assets were frozen (including everything Johnny "owned"), he was broke. Having no idea how to live without money, or Heaven forbid, how to get a job, he contacted his ex-assistant, Rosemary for help. That changed their relationship from boss and assistant to friends. Then it changed even more.
I was surprised that the author was able to take Johnny the jerk who everyone hated and turn him into Johnny the nice guy who was liked by all. I liked the unusual storyline and terrific characters. I especially liked Rosemary and her great friends who welcomed Johnny into their group. All except Rosemary's bestie, Ryan. He couldn't forget all the complaints he had heard from Rosemary about her horrible boss. I agreed with Ryan, but I was really hoping Johnny could make something of himself.
I was given a complimentary copy for review consideration.
I was a bit skeptical at first... There is no way a man can go from being spoiled, hate-worthy and arrogant to being this kind and insightful all of a sudden. The rest of the book won me over though. The story is sweet, the romance is wonderfully done and the sexy scenes were lovely too. A nice light read. Which I sorely needed, as I'm also halfway into a non-fiction world war 2 novel, and it was getting heavy on me. Do give this a go and read it, if this is your genre.
Losing His Shirt tells the story of an arrogant, spoilt, shallow, rich playboy who in one moment loses everything he has, including the wherewithal to buy a decent beer. Johnny is used to having everyone, including the tabloids falling over themselves for him. Well, the tabloids are definitely having a field day now that he has been publicly humiliated, giving credence to the saying: “Be careful who you step on when you’re on your way up, because you might have to meet them when you come down”. Rosemary, on the other hand, was his office slave. When he pushes too far, she gave way and lets him have her full, unadulterated opinion of him and walks out. Johnny finds he has no way to sort out the monetary affairs of his life, so he tracks Rosemary down and finds a woman who has a full and interesting life with really good, fun friends who stick together. From Rosemary and her friends Johnny starts to change and to appreciate all he lost, as well as the people who served him. This is a well written romance with a feel-good ending and a life lesson for all of us. Due to language and bedrooms scenes, this book definitely needs an age restriction. I didn't really enjoy either Johnny or Rosemary's characters as first, but as the book evolved, both of them showed more depth of character and before the story came to an end, I loved the whole group of friends. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This was the first time I have read anything by this author. I was impressed with this story. There was a slow build up for the characters to connect, but it truly did help you see the bigger picture in the end. I did connect to the characters and their emotions. I did receive an advanced copy of this story for a honest review. If I had seen this advertised on a deal I would of bought it. It was well worth with it. I would even reread it again. Overview: Rosemary works for an internet company that sale collectible automotive parts. Her boss Johnnie Creel (johnnie the creeper), is rich and rude to everyone. Rosemary finally has enough and tells him off and quits. She tells him that even if he looses his money that he would be a no one/nothing. But when Johnnies dad is accused of bad business and the FBI seize everything including Johnnie's stuff, he freaks. He now has to ask for help. Johnnie never expected Rosemary to be his savior. Even more, Johnnie was learning how to be a real human and learn to survive in the real world. But when he gets his money back, will they be able to find a middle ground for their romance to build a future.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is a new author for me. I'm so glad you gave me a chance to read and review your work. I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. You storyline was very well written and I loved all the characters. Johnny Creel owned a business thanks to his very wealthy father. He didn't know how to run or even bothered to be interested in the business. He had good workers who did it all and he took the credit. RoseMary was his assistant and that is a loose statement because she did more than a regular assistant should in a 8 hour work day. Johnny has some bad luck that makes him lose all his money and he finally sees how someone who actually works for a living copes with normal crappy wages. I loved the chemistry of RoseMary and Johnny. Her best friends were sweet and protective of her, especially Ryan. I would've loved to read more about him. This book pleasantly surprised me. It was a very good storyline and it had some humorous lines in it. Grab your copy now, give this author a try!
I have yet to read an underdeveloped book from Linda Fausnet.
Very entertaining read! Johnny is a despicable character that you just want to punch at the beginning of the book. It was satisfying reading about his downfall. He was hit with the realization that his life has been too sheltered from the realities of life and he's been a terrible human being. Rosemary comes across as a very strong, independent, compassionate and talented heroine. It's nice to read characters that are well developed and their actions actually fit with their supposed personalities. The flow of the story was written very well... Not rushed but also without the characters being unreasonably stubborn about revealing their feelings for each other. It was a bit confusing initially because the chapters were not labeled as to whose POV we're reading but after 3 chapters or so it not too hard to figure out. I enjoyed this book very much. :)
I got this book from Eden books and totally fell in love with it. I loved the storyline and all the characters and I was laughing out loud several times. I couldn’t possibly see how the author was going to turn Johnny around. He was a typical condescending rich guy with the world at his feet and treated others like they were trash. Now losing all of daddy’s money, he has to ask for help from the one person he treated the worst. It was nice to see Johnny try to figure out how to navigate the world with no money and not just snapping his fingers and having people fall at his feet. How does one go about wooing a girl when you’re broke. But I must say I was loving him at the end of the book. Bravo 👏
At first I was excited to read this book because it looked pretty good. But as was reading it, it started to really drag, to the point that I kept looking to see how much I had left to read. I only got half way through it, before I finally deleted it from my Kindle. Book is too long plus it’s unbelievable. The male character goes from being a moron to being the sweetest guy on the planet, all within a couple of pages.
I absolutely loved it! I haven't had this much fun reading a book in a while! sooo entertaining! The main characters were perfect for each other! He didn't have a clue and she was very grounded! Watching them fall in love was awesome! I can't wait to read more from this author!!
This is a story about a rich spoiled guy named Johnny and a sweet girl named Rosemary. Johnny loses his fortune and must get a real job, and Rosemary is the sweet lady that truly shows him what life and working class people with dreams are like.
Boring predictable childish characters. Writing was surface reading with no depth. Characters were childish and stupid especially Johnny not worth the time to 'read
Ok, reality horny folks! It would be really nice to get into a story without all the crass sex, dreams and masturbation!! This says to me:Authors don't know how to write a real story so they go right for sex! DELETE!!!
This was a great very interesting story, with all the right balance of story, sex and drama. While sometime you want to strangle Johnny, while you want give him a hug. Rosemary is smart, talented and strong. Wonderful read!
At first I didn't like this book, not sure if I was going to even finish it. I never like to quit a book so I kept reading and I'm glad I did. It turned out to be a really good book.
This book was an enjoyable way to spend a day off. It's a pleasant tale of a man who has everything material, loses it but finds himself instead. Oh, and he finds true love too. It does make you think about what's important in life, and there are some sweet romantic scenes too. I don't necessarily agree with the premise that all rich boys are idiots and that you have to be poor to be nice. But the book itself is fine if you can overlook that.
