Mine #2

Kitten, Mine

Rate this book
Katherine:

The day Antonio walked into my Café I knew things were about to change. He had this presence about him, and I could see shadows in his eyes of things I could never understand. But he was like a force of nature, taking what he wanted, when he wanted. He was big, strong, and had eyes the color of the finest chocolate. Everything he made me feel, scared the hell out of me. When he opened his mouth, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to slap him or kiss him, he made every nerve in my body come alive. But, I have a secret. I didn’t want to let him go but its better this way. I have let enough people down in my life so, I tried to distance myself, and push him away. I never thought I could love, or trust, any man after my father left, but Antonio was here to prove me wrong, and he wasn’t going to back down.

Kitten: Antonio was determined to take me to my knees and crack me wide open.

Antonio:
Katherine was the kind of woman you could only ever dream up in your wildest fantasies. A woman who oozed sex kitten with every sway of her hips, and she had the attitude to go with it. With hair like fire, and eyes as blue as the sky on a clear summer's day, that body of hers I swear had a direct line to my cock. Then, she pushed me away, but I don’t go down that easy. I didn’t get to where I am today without fighting tooth and nail for it. Katherine was mine and no matter how long it took me, I was going to make her see she belonged to me, just like I already belonged to her. I know she is hiding something, I can see it in her eyes every time she looks at me. I don’t care what I have to do, or how long it takes, I will find out what it is. My kitten isn’t the only one with secrets.

Antonio: Katherine brought me to my knees, and I was going to take her down with me.

So this one picks up where Angel Mine left off. We know Kat and Antonio were together and something happened and now they aren't. There's a little background as to what happened and it goes from there. I felt Kat's reasons for pushing him away not really valid. I get where she was coming from but I hate when a character thinks they know what is best for another without actually TALKING to them to see how they feel first. I also realize this was a defense mechanism on her part but I just don't think it was right to assume how he would feel.

I would not classify this as a standalone as things are "continued" from book 1 and characters' lives are not necessarily retold enough to explain what is going on. You are basically dropped in the middle of a story. This didn't bother me since I had read book one but I just felt like I needed to make that clear.

I really felt like 70% of this book was a downer. What we see of Kat in book 1 is not what is really going on with her. It's all a smokescreen. And while I was glad she wasn't this tough as nails bitch who "didn't need a man", I was also shocked at how depressed and down she was. It was very sad. Her sister is an evil bitch. I felt like her abuse was way OTT. It kind of reminded me of another author whose heroines always are abused in some OTT way. Anyway, I kept wanting her to tell the bitch off and honestly I couldn't understand why she allowed it to continue. I have to say this though, what Kat was going through mentally, she really, really needed psychiatric help. I don't believe for one minute that someone with her thoughts and wouldn't need therapy. No amount of friends or a man is going to heal a person in that state.

That being said, the author's writing has improved. And as with book 1, Antonio is the type of hero I love. He is possessive and obsessive with that "Mine, mine, mine" mentality that I just eat up. I really hope the author continues to write her heroes this way.

Kat kept calling Antonio "stud". Every single time, all I could picture was

I'm really looking forward to Kirsty's and Sergio's story. But boy I know that one is going to be sad and a little hard to take. I'm starting to see a pattern here with this author's heroines...

On another note, I found out a new use for Nutella. You'll have to read to find out what...

I have very mixed feelings on this one.
The writing is better here than in the previous one. And I love Antonio and Kat (when she’s not referring to people as Dollface). But this book didn’t really work and I’m torn. Do I continue on or cut my losses?

It was a lot more depressing than I’d expected. I didn’t buy the reasons behind Kat’s distance from Antonio. And her sister could rival any cartoon villain out there. Again this book (like the previous one) was all black and white. I miss the grey.

On top of Dollface we also have Stud (28 times) to contend with.

But it’s not all bad and part of me wants Sergio’s story but...

I’m not sure.

Safe, amazing hero.
I struggled with the heroine at the beginning, but she got better.

Too much drama, too much happened.

Surprisingly H's overcavemanishness didn't bother me much. He was 1000% devoted to his woman.

Looking forward to the 3rd book.

4.5 stars!!

"Because, he is my light as I am his. We will guide each other through the darkness. Together we will overcome. "

Both with horrific pasts, Kat and Antonio's push/pull is intoxicating, with tons of adorable banter contributing to a heated, romantic relationship. Super suspenseful, all things happening to pull them apart, will their love overcome the obstacles? I had the greatest time finding out, and so will you!! Loved the sneak peek to the next book that I'm dying for!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.

‘Kitten mine’ is the second book in the ‘Mine’ series. I would recommend that you read the first book ‘Angel mine’ before reading this one. It will make reading this book more understandable if you do.

We met Katherine and Antonio in the first book. Katherine is Brooklyn best friend and Antonio is Dominic best friend (and also his boss). We could already read in that book that there was something going on between Katherine and Antonio but later on it also became clear that something had pushed them apart but we never knew what. So you can say that I was really curious about their story and it was more than I expected!

From the first moment that Antonio and Katherine met there was an attraction. Both felt it and both reacted on it but then after a short time when Katherine felt herself falling more and more for this dangerous but protective man, she pulled away. Because deep down she believed that she didn’t deserve him. That he would be better off with someone else. But she underestimated Antonio and his feelings for her. Antonio knows that Katherine is the woman for him and that they could have a great future together. And he will do everything he can to convince her of that. He knows that it will be difficult because he can see that she struggling with something dark. But if there’s one thing that he knows how to fight, it’s dark things so he will do everything in his power to convince Katherine that he’s the right man for her.

But Katherine’s demons aren’t the only obstacles in his way, other people are also trying to come between them in their own special way but they don’t know Antonio very well if they think that he will let someone come between him and his kitten!!!

The story started with different views of Katherine’s life so it took me a moment to get into the story but once I did I fell in love with it. This is a mafia story so you can expect violence and dead but one thing that I love about Kay Maree’s writing is that she writes it in such a way that it isn’t too dark to read. That’s also with the pace of the story, there are a lot of things happening in the story but it’s still believable. Nothing is never too much of something. And the fact that the story had some surprising twists is something that I just love as a reader!

The story is told from both POV, in the first book we met Katherine’s feisty side but in this book we see another side of her. It’s a very vulnerable side, a side that nobody knows of except her diary. But Antonio sees it and he wants it all, the feisty kitten and the vulnerable woman. The light and the dark. Antonio was really the perfect man for Katherine and I must confess that I felt for him too.

I really enjoyed it and I’m already looking forward to the next book in this series.

Even in Darkness you can find a Shining Light

I commend this author for being able to take a dark situation and bring it light and salvation. This second book of the "Mine" Series is just as good as the first. She is able to take a girl, whose light has been diminished by those who should have been the ones to lift her up and have her bloom where others expected death.
Katherine has lived a life of rejection and ridicule at the hands of the most unexpected. Antonio has led a life of darkness, never expecting to find salvation. Yet when their eyes meet it is love at first sight, but will it become more, or will their pasts keep them apart. Grab this second book "Kitten Mine" and follow their story as they run rampant all emotions possible while surviving more than any would expect. Well Done!🌺

Loved

Katherine & Antonio’s story was very good, emotional at times. The pain Katherine had was heartbreaking but she had her stud to help guide her. Loved the pull between these two. Fantastic story. Looking forward to Sergio & kristy next.

Wow, what a terrific second book in this series! I loved the first book and this was every bit as good!

Kat's life wasn't easy, having her father leave then her older sister treat her abominably, she found life very dark a lot of the time and built walls around her heart to survive. Antonio is an enforcer for his mob boss but is besotted with Kat, his Kitten. Slowly he tries to crumble those walls of hers but it is a difficult task.

Excitement and lots of action and drama fill this book to make the reader sit up and take notice the whole way through. Erotic bedroom scenes show the depth of passion the lead characters have for each other. But there is a lot more, the depth of understanding and care they also have for each other is endearing.

There are some twists and turns that keep readers unsure of what is coming up next and determined to keep reading even when they need sleep! Yes, I couldn't put this book down and its fast pace makes it super easy to read.

Bring on book 3, Sugar Mine!

" I am broken. Every day I feel like I die a little more" Kat
" I want the kind of love that makes my skin prickle when I think about him, when he's near" Kat

Every once in awhile you read a book that speaks to you and for me that is THIS book. I loved so many things about it starting with its layout, storyline and characters. The characters were so real and flawed yet able to love each other including those flaws. Kat is a wonderful character. Her strength, despite the darkness within. Is admirable and beautiful. She's is so much stronger than she realizes. Brooklyn is the best best friend anyone could have and Kat knows this ands appreciates it. Their bond made me smile. The men are the sexiest bad boys ever!

This author's writing is excellent, smooth flowing, very unpredictable and addictive. I want and need more now! Lol

Not my kind of liking. Just nope. Heroine too weak and too scared of almost everything. heroine got a very huge trust issues. Too tight-chested reading. in the first book, I see a glimpse of the heroine's character but that was a FAKE ADVERTISEMENT. No. The heroine wasn't like that at all. It says that the hero was strong minded. Arrogant. Dominant. He saw something wrong with heroine's sister but what he did at the very first moment they met? Nothing.

All the clues was there but he did nothing. I hate the hero that didn't follow their instinct and regret in the end. But maybe, just maybe those was the plot. Regret.

No. Sorry

Kitten Mine is the awesome follow-up novel to Angel Mine by Kay Maree.
We first meet Katherine – Kat in Angel Mine, you don’t have to read Angel Mine but it is recommended as it will help for certain aspects of the story to make more sense.
Kat is an absolute spitfire who knows exactly who she is and what she wants out of life. BUT like most of us, she has a past, one that she wishes she could forget. There is one person who she has let get close to her best friend Brooklyn and she is the only person Kat had space in her battered heart for.
Anthony is Dominic the sexy Alpha Mob Boss’ right-hand man and he has it bad for Kat. They have had some fun in the past but Kat can feel Anthony working his way through her defences so she does the only thing she can – she pushes him away.
Anthony can see past the wall that Kat puts up and the facade that she shows to the rest of the world and will do everything he can to earn his place in her heart.
This is an excellent follow up to Angel Mine. I loved Kat and Anthony in the first book and couldn’t wait to read their story.
This story has it all including a few possible triggers for some readers (depression, self-harm (cutting) and bullying). There is drama suspense but ultimately it is a love story.
Things that I Loved:
* Kat is strong tough chick but her past makes her vulnerable but in a way, that makes you sympathise with her as she has used her experiences of her past to become empowered not bogged down and defeated by her past
* Anthony is determined to help Kat move beyond her past even if it means they can’t be together
* The villain is Kat’s life is soooooooooo evil!!
* That they discussed their past and things weren’t kept secret and that they helped each other to grow, change and learn to love again and that they were both better people for the experience

3 1/2 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the second book in the Mine series by Kay Maree. As with the first book (Angel Mine) there were things I loved about this book and things I hated about it. There's also something major missing ; How the fuck did Kat get loose ? The chapter ends with her about to be raped by Billy. Then Antonio walks into the abandoned apartment and Kat is pointing a gun at him after killing Billy ? How did Ashley shoot Antonio and then get away ? In the first book when Darren kidnapped Kat, Brooklyn, and Evie he says he didn't want Brooklyn to remember what happened that night and go the police because it would ruin everything he and Matt had going on. I thought maybe it would be answered in this book. What happened that night ? What was he afraid of the police finding out ? I could see Darren slipping Brooklyn drugs to take her virginity but to move her into his home and support her and the kid for five years, just for his brother ? Kat was a total badass who would get in the faces of grown men but she was petrified of her drug addict sister ? Kat had some seriously deep issues and no amount of dick is gonna cure that, she definitely needed professional help. Kat seems like a total badass who isn't afraid of anything or anyone but in reality she's broken and barely holding on to life. No one knows her deepest secrets, not even her best friend, Brooklyn. She owns a coffee shop called Coffee Kat that she bought with the small inheritance her Grandma left her. She meets Antonio the same day her best friend, Brooklyn meets Dom when they both came into the coffee shop. She likes Antonio and quickly starts spending a lot of time with him but suddenly she freezes him out. Antonio is already head over heels for Kat and he doesn't understand why she's giving him the cold shoulder. He's willing to give her some space but he will not give her up no matter what her reasons are. Antonio was such a great guy, he was unbelievably patient and understanding with Kat. I thought the connection between Darren, Matt, and Ashley was a little out there and crazy.

Even better than the first one

I loved reading Kat and Antonio’s story . So most of it happened at the same time as Brooklyn and Dominic’s story from the first book in the series . What I loved was that this book wasn’t as repetitive as they usually are when a series is written like this . This writer did a great job of not making the reader repeat so much of the same story . It’s a pet peeve of mine so I am a fan of Kay Maree’s now . I loved how possessive Antonio is . He was so loving and never gave up on Kat. Kat’s story is different than any abuse story that I’ve ever read . That’s saying a lot because I’ve read a lot of them . I loved how the two couples are always there for one another . Antonia and Dominic might be mobsters but they have a huge heart where their women are concerned .

this is a one amazing mafia read. this is Antonio and kats story. kats journey had me hooked from the beginning as she battled with her demons reveling that she had depression and the roller coaster that this would take her and Antonio on. I loved that Antonio as an alpha male wouldn't give up. I loved that brooklyn and Antonio were there when she need them.

kay is an amazing author who though her writing had me on the journey along with kat. I also loved that dom, brooklyn and little evie were along for the amazing journey this book made .

Kitten Mine is the second book in this series. We met Kat in the first book Angel Mine, and she was a spitfire, sticking up for her best friend Brooklyn. She seems like she has it together, but in this book the truth is revealed. She is a troubled soul with deep scars. Someone who has trouble believing in herself. This story follows Antonio and Kat and the struggle they have to try and overcome her fear.

It's truly an awesome story, would definitely recommend this read. Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book and I'm giving my review voluntary.

Kat and Antonio really intrigued me from the first book Angel Mine.

Antonio is the right hand man to the boss Dominic and the same day Dominic found his Angel, Antonio found his kitten in the form over the ever protective, foul mouthed together known as Kat.

Kat is so busy fighting her inner demons, Brooklyn's demons and attraction to Antonio she doesn't know which way to turn. With her secrets that she doesn't want to burden anyone with its a constant battle between dark and light till one day she realises she does have people who are willing to fight not just beside her but for her.

This is Katherine and Antonio's story. Kat is Brooklyn's best friend, and Antonio is Dom's right hand man.
Both are not without their own baggage, and put up walls to protect themselves from hurt. As is expected with the Mob, there is always some problem needing fixing, which plays out as Antonio and Kat try to fight their feelings before getting their own HEA.

This was the exciting sequel to Angel Mine. Though it reads alone, reading book one will give you an insight into the characters.
Antonia is Mafia, finding out about his history gives you more understanding why. Kat is his love, she's no pushover and he's going to have to fight to keep her. They both have secrets, is this a good formula for a relationship?
An action packed dramatic story with plenty of loving will keep you hooked.
