What she doesn’t plan for is a growing attraction to a local man… and his dog. But just as they’re about to become intimate, he disappears, leaving her questioning her ability to love again.
Author’s Note: This is a complete story, but you may enjoy it more if you read the Prequel first.

Such a delightful read. Lianne's character is beautiful and the way she and her friends work together through life's ups and downs was lovely to read. Loved the budding romance and how things all tied together; the focus on second chances after so much loss was great to read, too.

I downloaded a book titled: 'Lianne (Second Chances Series Book 1) The ONLY book with that title is this Lianne (Second Chances Series Book 2) by Mona Ingram which has a different cover to the one I downloaded.
But there is also this book! Lianne (Second Chances Series Book 2)
Lianne (Second Chances Series Book 2) by Mona Ingram

It turns out that the book I downloaded is this one: Prequel (Second Chances Series Book 1) by Mona Ingram WITH the 'Lianne' story added to it. The problem is that on a Kindle, covers simply don't show up clearly, so I was going by the actual title of the book I downloaded.

Confused? Same here ;)

I suspect a lot of readers, like me, skip over the boring stuff at the start of a book - I dont want to read pages and pages of gushy acknowledgements or lists of characters or 'how to pronounce' etc. I want to get into the story! So I simple missed the fairly innocuous 'The Prequel' on the first page - It would have been SO much better to have had the separate book cover there to clarify things. I didn't get as far as the actual story though. I stopped reading at 17% simply because there were too many females thrown into the story too quickly.

Emma, Jade, Madison, Lianne, Chloe, (and Bella, the dog) They were ALL tragically damaged etc, etc, etc and although I do like a bit of angst in a story, this was just laying it on with a trowel. I couldn't keep them straight in my mind - who had which trauma, etc ;) - so in the end I left them to it.

I did seriously wonder about the reality of carrying a passenger with a dog and a full petrol can on a motorbike! And the lack of a Table of Contents struck me as rather amateur.

Not rating at this moment.

Lianne Second Chances Series by Mona Ingram
This book starts where first book left off. We are following Lianne and she has lots or diseaster and tragedies occur in the short period of time.
Her friends are there for her as she makes decisions that will effect the rest of her life at the ranch.
She agrees to house the casting crew throughout the ranch to make money that is needed for upkeep.
She decides to visit England where her father and mother had chrished their time there.
She meets James and learns all about his life and he'd been taking care of his grandmother while the fiancée wanted to put her in a home.
After she died he tries to find his place and thinks of work, for himself. He shares his dreams with Lianne and she has her own thoughts on the subject.
She opens up about the foursome of women back home and tells him of her past and where she's at now...
He's fallen in love with her and wants to proect her. Backward meal=we just had one a few weeks ago, too funny!
A misunderstanding and sabotage leaves her on the doorstep at his house for dinner and he's no where there but his female neighbor is...
She heads back to the states and tries to get on with her life.
Amazing how this all works out with the town revitalization. Didn't see it coming as it did!
Free book from Amazon and this is my honest opinion.

This felt really disjointed and the flow within the novel was really quite odd. I found the jumping in time quite jarring - both forwards and backwards in time. The formatting was really bizarre - but it may have just downloaded oddly from iBooks, and just been odd only on my end and not usually appear that way.
The story itself - I couldn't warm to any of the characters in the friendship circle. Things weren't explained well enough for my liking - like how Lianne could afford to fly first class back from London - those tickets are super expensive! Sure, she'd sold cattle on her ranch, but by her own admission in the book she had never been able to afford to travel before due to lack of funds, and now she's returning to the states first class?? Even the car service when she first arrived in London I thought was odd, but that was explained away later (which I was thankful for). It took a good chunk of the book before it actually stated it was set in California, which really spun my brain out when I read it, because in my mind I was reading that Chance was in the mid-west somewhere. Just too many questions that were raised by me as a reader that weren't answered to my satisfaction at some stage in the book.

A short romance story. In my case, I fast read the parts about the town, the ranch and the plans to improve both, those were a little boring.
The rest kept me interested. I liked the main couple and evry chapter actually related to Lianne's story. Granted, it is a little bit corny, there are a little too many coincidences, but despite all that, I really wanted to know what would happen. And, as I said, characters, may be too good to be true, bordering on unrealistically good even, but they were likeable, including, of course, Lianne's friends (Brett too 😔). For that reason, I actually became curious about what would become of them, so maybe I will read some of the other books in the series. Definitely, Maddison, also Jade, and possibly Emma.

I loved this book. The prequel was helpful to sort of set the storyline and cast of characters.

Lianne has lost her husband and father close together and does not know how she will get through each day. She copes with the help of her 3 closest friends and the ranch foreman and his wife.

Lianne and her friends each have things going on in their lives. Jade met them during the filming of a movie in the town and became friends with Lianne.

The ranch has become their haven where they run to when they need support. Together the 5 friends have grand plans to save their town.

Lianne (Second Chances # 1) by Mona Ingram.

The kindle version I read starts with the prequel and it introduces all the woman characters and the small township of Chance. The prequel is a short story and sets up the series.
This first book in the series follows Lianne and her journey to Happy Ever After. It also gives glimpses into the back stories of the other characters and sets up the next books in this series. A nice beach read. It is an engaging story. 3 stars.

I am so happy that I discovered this new to me author, Mona Ingram. I have just finished reading Lianne and I cant wait to start the second one in this series. Mona has created four very interesting, different and very likeable characters. These ladies have been together since they were young children and they are still there for each other in their adulthood. I loved this sweet romance. I had a hard time putting it down long enough to get anything else done.

Five Forever Friends -

Their heartbreak, their struggles, their determination – and ultimately, their love stories.

I'm a big fan of Mona's and I love women that know what they want and how to take the bull by the horns to get things done. This is going to be a good series.

No one could say precisely when the idea of bringing the town back to life went from idle chatter to reality. In retrospect, Lianne, Madison, Emma, Jade and Chloe have been looking for something meaningful to do with their lives, and the challenge was irresistible.

Here they are, five talented women with unique skill sets. This little town of Chance was dying in front of their eyes, but they were given the means to turn it around thanks to the facelift by the movie cast and crew.

I don't think Lianne's story is over yet. James shows up from across the pond much to her surprise and their story is just beginning.

Check out Second Chances Series (5 book series) Kindle Edition - Five stories of five amazing women. Enjoy and happy reading!

Lianne

Of you like characters that are available in every book this is the one of six books for you. This is Lianne's story but you get her friends and their lives popping up through out. You read about her life with her friends and then her husband. And what happens when after he dies. How she is able to move on and the possibility of a new love.

Hope for everyone

In this story of heartbreak, there is hope for all that there is a second chance at love. The story jumps way back in time to show where Lianne has come from and is sometimes a little difficult to figure from one paragraph to the next when you are at. Overall a great story line.

Hallmark

This was a fun romance populated by the usual gorgeous, successful, and brilliant women. Of course, the men are handsome, also brilliant and successful. This book could have been the script for a Hallmark channel movie. All you need to do is sit back and enjoy the story.

Nice story, interesting clean story. Although at on point I though the sweet, clean aspect was going to disappear as she was thinking of becoming intimate with James. But then she didn't get his note and went home. Some coincidences, such as James having actually been with Lianne's first husband when he died.

Who Doesn't Need a Seçond Chance?

Excellent and well written story about loosing someone you love and working through the grief and sorrow, which is a process that takes time and is different for each of us. When hope emerges it struggles with willingness to become vulnerable.

Lianne is one of five women who are trying to bring Chance, California back to life. This is her story, part of which takes place in Cornwall. Well written except for a couple of places where the names are wrong in the story. I hope that has been corrected in later editions.

Loved It!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Luanne (Second Chance Series Book 2). It drew me in on page one.
Free to travel as she wishes, Lianne visits a place her parents loved, never expecting to find love. But how can it last when they live across the Atlantic from each other?

A lot of good possibilities in this book, but it's insufficiently stand-alone. Too many details are alluded to but not resolved and that leaves the book insufficiently satisfying when read alone. It also wasn't fully stable on POV but the shifts were pointless.

Great read

I loved this book and the storyline. It is a great story of heartache and love and how they can overcome. The only thing I didn't like was having part of the story told and then go back over it again in the the next part.

Four school friends remain friends as they all go their separate ways. Each one faces tragedy. They all rush to help each other through those times and enjoy the highlights of their lives. Recommended!

Lianne by Mona Ingram is a wonderful, heartwarming book about four friends who grew up together. Now, as adults, they are still there for each other. This is the first installment in the Second Chances Series. Very good read.

Not bad. Pretty standard romance.

Not bad. Pretty standard romance. Could use more descriptions of places and character development. Motivation of characters especially minor characters needs more development

Loved this book!

This book has been a joy to read. Read it in one sitting. Wish I could read the rest, but, finances are touch for me at this time. Well written, and characters are believable. Story line is sad, then fleshes out nicely. Hopefully, I can read the rest soon.

This is the story of a young woman who goes on a well deserved holiday only to find herself falling for the same man who was with her husband when he disappeared with a rouge wave from the ocean around him. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
