Twenty two year old Tessa Taylor is at a crossroads in her acting career and personal life. She's missing her boyfriend Ryan, who's traveling the world; nerdy dog trainer Alex is trying to push in to her social circle; and the show she's been working on is under threat. When ruggedly handsome company director Edward Wentworth asks her to represent his skincare line, she's flattered.
Despite turning him down, circumstances lead Tessa to reconsider Edward's offer. But is this the opportunity of a lifetime, or a folly that will ultimately lead her to danger? Her first challenge is to fend off unwanted advances from Edward, who's dating a woman Tessa knows. Then, after returning to the office at night, she discovers Edward has a secret: a secret so horrifying it could destroy his company.
Tessa faces a decision, and it's the toughest one of her life. Should she stay with the company, or should she leave? Should she expose Edward's company for unethical business practices? And will her decision put her in harm's way?
Whatever she decides, Tessa and her friends are in for another wild ride in book five of the LA Lights series. While all the books in the series are interconnected and the characters recur, each can be read as a stand alone novel.
The latest novel in the LA Lights series will appeal to those who love action packed adventures, set in the movie capital of Los Angeles. Add in delightful dogs, fun and friendship, hot heroes, and a shot of romance and comedy, and you will see why readers describe these books as Janet Evanovich meets Must Love Dogs.
Born in Liverpool, I started my working life as a librarian and have worked in a variety of jobs since, but none was as much fun as the one that allowed me to write and get paid for it. That was a few years ago, and each year it’s become more and more apparent to me that what I want to do is write full time, a dream that first occurred to me at seventeen.
Like my characters, I love my family and friends, beautiful shoes, anything sparkly, the “occasional” drink, parties, and a good belly laugh. I’m addicted to shopping, chocolate, bubble baths and anything else that smells nice, and the sort of TV programs you’d never publicly admit to watching. Did I mention that, like my characters, I also love dogs?
I’ve lived in England, Canada, and the United States but now call New Zealand home. I live in a lovingly renovated house overlooking Auckland’s beautiful Waitemata Harbour with my trusted Great Danes, Dolce and Gabbana, and their two cats, Charlie and Jamie. The dogs keep me fit and exercised, scare the burglars away, sit loyally by my side throughout my late-night writing sessions, and hang on to my every word when I read my final drafts aloud. They truly are my biggest fans, and I theirs! The cats, on the other hand, hang out by themselves and ignore the dogs and me.
I love my life but not so much that there’s not room to live a load of other lives, through the hearts and minds of my characters, all of whom I adore, and some of whom I’m fortunate enough to call friends.
I love to hear from my readers, and your emails and messages motivate me to keep writing, so keep them coming! I answer every one personally. Here’s how to touch base:
Another great book in the LA Lights series! A Must read for mystery and fun!
This is book five of a fantastic series. Tessa's boyfriend Ryan has to be traveling around in his job capacity for about a year and Tessa misses him terribly! Although he wanted her to join him, she just couldn't leave since she is working so hard trying to advance her acting career. When the show she was working on went into a hiatus, she is left with just her dog walking business which has helped get her through her ups and downs and introduced her to some new and quirky friends. These friends you see in the previous books and it is fun to see the continuity and their quirkiness continue! And we get to know a little more about the dog trainer, Guy who wrongly got her arrested in the previous book. When a new skin-care company owner sees her walking dogs, he immediately wants her to be his representative, the new face on the product advertising. At first she turns him down but keeps his card; but when she finds her show on hiatus, she decides to take him up on it, she could use the money. Then she finds there are secrets that are just too hard to bear with this new company, she decides to enlist her friends and take revenge! This is a fun mystery peppered with lots of humor and a must read in the series. Can't wait for book 6! I was fiven an ARC by the author, but the opinions stated here are stricly my own.
Wonderful story about a dog walker/actress. With lots of dogs, friends, weird jobs and house-mates. Sometimes funny - a few really large dogs will do that - sometimes scary. Never a dull moment with a book about Tessa and her friends!
London Lights series: Meeting Miss Mollie #1 - A well written, heartwarming, funny romance story with wonderful and not-so-wonderful characters. Full of intrigue, suspense, betrayal and a dog makes it difficult to put the book down. This is a standalone in the London Lights series. 5*
Liverpool Kiss - Well written, believable characters; I didn't stop reading until I finished the book. I own Meeting Miss Mollie, which I will be reading soon. I read The Audition, also own, another fun read, which got me started on Ms. Jones. Both books were read in one sitting, they were so good. Luckily, I contacted the author to review her books and received a copy of Liverpool Kiss. * 5*
Cast Aside in Como #3 - Another well written, heartwarming and funny romance by one of my favorite ChicLit ladies. I didn't stop reading until the last page. I love that the story is Italy; didn't care about climbing fences, but the story needed a place to start and this worked out perfectly for the story line. I contacted the author to review her books. 5* London Lights series end.
LA Lights series: The Audition - #1 - A quick, fast read. Not a fan of Hollywood, but I found The Audition to be funny and engaging and well written. 5*
Taking the Lead - #2 - Funny and intriguing. A well written story full of humor, a lovable group of characters, some scary, and a twisting plot. I've read these books out of series and they are all good books. While each book is complete, the characters' stories continue through thick and thin, and suspense and intrigue. There's a preview of the book, which I appreciate knowing what the book is about before I read it. 5*
Acting up - #3 - Another fun, intriguing tale of love and dogs. A well written story with our favorite characters, lots more dogs and a couple of cats. The constantly developing plot holds the reader's attention until the book is finished. I've read all six books of this series and enjoyed all of them. 5*
Transplanting Holly Oakwood - #4 - A quick, funny novel filled with intrigue and mishaps that keep you laughing throughout and too soon the story ends. This author always tells a good story, even the sad short stories from her Grief novel. I personally didn't care for the few sex scenes, not seen in the other books I've read. There's infrequent cursing in anger. This book must be read before Barking Bad, (#5). 5*
Barking Bad - #5 - A well written suspense that starts a touch slow but slams into gear and doesn't slow down until the end. Having read The Audition and nothing else from this series, I was surprised at the intrigue and intensity of this book. The plot is well thought out, with unexpected turns, and some horror, along with our favorite characters. The romance between Tessa and Ryan goes where I think is the right direction. I have read several of this author's books and she's always delivered a good read. For those who care, there's no sex and infrequent cursing. 5*
Stealing the Show - #6 - A well written, humorous story full of romance and intrigue. A twisting plot with some surprises has our favorite characters fighting the bad guys and loving the good guys. For those who care, there's no sex and infrequent mild cursing in anger. Another fun way to spend an evening after a hard day. 5* LA Lights series end.
Grief Is a Hungry Business And Other Short Stories - Interesting, some sad, short stories easily read in a few minutes. Yes, there's a happy ending. 5*
This series is an absolute delight to read! In Barking Bad, Tessa continues as a struggling actress and her show is put on hold, indefinitely. She decides that her best option for boosting her finances, beyond her dog walking income, is a job as the a model for a brand new beauty products company. She is also forced to with the man who had her arrested for stealing a dog a few months ago by one of her favorite dog walking clients, which creates awkward tensions.
As I have come to expect from the author, Di Jones, the humor made me laugh out loud, the suspense had me flipping through pages late into the night, and the ending was unexpected and perfect. I look forward to the next book and hope there will be many more from Ms Jones.
Barking Bad! A nice clean romance? thriller kind of story! For lovers of clean romances a good one to read easy reading as it is written in a somewhat humoristic way about Hollywood expereinces and intrigues, tention and love but surely the English way is waved into the story Its building up to a tensioned end with even shooting .but still having a happy end! The main character Tessa is a lovely dynamic one ,plays a exllent role in it! good storyline and so is the story! for me good for a 4star!!
Good clean fun. We find Tessa looking for a new roommate, a New job and missing her boyfriend Ryan. She still has her dog walking business but it won't pay all the bills so when Edward offers her a job as the spokeswoman for his new cosmetic company she thinks about it and accepts the job. But if something seems to good to be true it usually is... I voluntary reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Yes, I really like Tessa - she remains true to herself despite all temptations life throws her way! And they aren't few... And the whole testing on animals issue is a good reminder of things that might happen we never have a clue about.
Come have a good time with this new development in her life - you'll enjoy it!
I really missed Tessa between books. She and the gang are so much fun and laughs! Di did another great job with her book. Reading the stuff about Tess and her adventures is a great way to relax
Wow book 5 if like me you will sail through these books just wanting more of their adventures. Ryan is away on his year around the world writing about top golfing coarse 's he did as tessa to go with him but she said no. Silly girl. Anyway tessa gets the dreaded news her TV series is being put on the back burner so she takes a commercial job with Edward Wentworth for skin care products. This is a very emotional read in places that's all I'm saying and leads tessa into danger. Things aren't all they seem to be. Full of twists and turns and some unexpected. A great series. A must read. I loved these books really well written and touched on things that are really close to animal lovers hearts as well.
