Preparing for war, especially against supernaturals like those of the Council, means getting your hands dirty, if you want to win. Everybody knows that I am no stranger to games and deception. I'm not afraid to lie, or cheat, or manipulate. Unfortunately, as days pass and deep, dark secrets come to light, I'm realising that my best just might not be enough.
Giving up is not an option. That means that I'm going to have to sin heavier than ever...
This book was a great read, filled with angst, romance, and action! Aaron and Star have finally stopped breaking each other's (AND MY) heart and admitted their feelings for one another. I don't know how many times I've wanted to strangle Star for her stupidity when it came to her feelings. All I can say is that Star's anger certainly rubbed off on me this book lol.
This installment picks up pretty much where the last one left off, Aaron off to deal with his grief, Star dealing with her guilt, and Arturo trying to get with Star (everyone knew that was going to happen)
If you haven't read the previous 2 books, please stop here and go back. There is a whole bunch of backstory, growth, and sexual tension (was that pun intentional? I'm going to go with yes) that you'd be missing out on. Plus it's a great series.
Pros: 1. MY HEART IS HAPPY - THAT'S ALL I'LL SAY ABOUT THAT 2. This series does heartbreaking without being too over the top, and angst without making you feel like you want to slap the MC around (mainly because she'd kick your ass) 3. Questions are answered (I love being right), and we've got some new ones to keep us hooked. But overall this was solid plot movement.
Cons: Um, having trouble thinking of one. Every time I think of something I didn't like, it was there for a purpose.
Long story short, three books in and I still love the characters, still hang on every plot twist and character detail, and would like the next book please. Plus it doesn't end on a cliffhanger so I can go to sleep happy that, right now at least, things are as they should be in the land of Star.
Just wow. This book will rip your heart out, make you heart and then put you back together. There's so much angst, romance, drama amd action, it's hard to believe it's only one book. Something happens that I've been waiting for and this author does it so right. I love this series.
I absolutely love this series! This author has done an incredible job with her world building and character development. I can't wait to find out how Star and Aaron kick ass in the books to come!
War between the Red Rebels and the Council is just around the corner and things between Star and Aaron are heating up. But secrets about who they really are threaten to tear them apart, if old flames and promises don't do so first.
Though this book is good and decently written, it is long winded after the first. I found myself skipping pages to get to the point. Good enough to were I wanted to see what happened anyway.
This book finally redeemed itself. Thank goodness because I really wanted to chunk it in the trash. This book was much slower than the previous and had some annoying subplots, but overall I wasn't disappointed.
The series continues with Star, formerly known as the assassin The Raven, having changed sides and trying to take down the Master Vampire. Star is still coming into herself and trying to understand her powers as an Elemental, while trying to ignore her love for the demon, Aaron, mad trying to protect everyone she loves. The characters are a little superficial and I would like to see a little more depth. Book 4 coming up.
