What are you supposed to do with a bunch of homicidal androids after the international crime syndicate that created them is brought down? They could easily be decommissioned, but why not sell them off to a Wild West theme park? They could be reprogrammed, so they wouldn’t kill anybody, and stage all kinds of mock gunfights to entertain the kids. What could possibly go wrong?

Sally is commissioned to work at Wenchworld, the Western Cultural Theme park in America. Or that is what all the fembots believe. When a car accident reveals something heinous going on with the male visitors of Wenchworld, Sally is dispatched undercover to get to the bottom of it. Who is behind the biggest switch in British intelligence? With a Texan accent and reactivated boob guns, Sally is on the case before she rides off into the sunset.
Wenchworld by Samantha Faulkner is book three in the I, Fembot Series. This story might make you change your mind on rather Artificial Intelligence is a blessing or a curse.
I experienced Wenchworld as an audiobook through Amazon’s Audible; narrated by Alison Campbell. The link to the audiobook versions is posted above. Alison Campbell is convincing and clear and did excellent impersonations in the Texan and British accents. This reading adds great personality to this story. I recommend experiencing the Wenchworld as an audiobook.
The setting of Wenchworld is a mingle of Great Britain, America’s old west and the future all combined in one, taking place in one location. The existence of high technology robots is the only clue of the futuristic element of the story. You aren’t assaulted with the gadgets and elements of the future with the fembots. In no certain terms you know we are in the future. The author did a great job showing that with the characters. With dirt roads and saloons, Wenchworld’s anti-AI biggest fear is set in the backdrop of the past. I like Sally’s human traits, such as the desire to drink and her enjoyment of sex. I forget the main character is one of the fembots until she reminds the reader of her faceplate.
Wenchworld is a light and enjoyable book. While you can dive into the many books in the series (check out the author's Goodreads page for the full list) you walk away from the book knowing you have experienced a well-written story, and in the case of the audiobook, it was well narrated. You don’t think much about the characters or the moral. You just enjoy the story enough to seek out the next book, just as I plan to do with the I, Fembot Series.
The ending of the story is predictable. The hero finds her way into the arms of the good looking “side-kick.” I appreciate the crisp ending of the story but after the way, the two characters meet I could imagine the very carnal ending. The hero also makes a ghastly mistake that was uncharacteristic to her position as an undercover fembot. The mistake opens the door for the conclusion of the story however it was unrealistic to how a seasoned undercover agent would behave; even one with a circuit board.

This is my third "Fembot Sally" book that I've listened to. I find this series so fun and entertaining. This book was a bit more sexual than I remember the other two books being, but I guess you have to expect that with the Wild West, saloons, and whore-houses. I absolutely love the narrator for this book, Alison Campbell. She really adds to the story and makes the Fembots come alive. She is exactly what I would have chosen as narrator. If you like quirky science fiction, I highly recommend this book (as well as the rest in the series). I can't wait for the next audio to come out.
