Kristen Coley didn’t again. This is a YA summer romcom with an angsty twist. But it’s so cute and sweet. The banter between Abbi and John is so fun. I found myself rooting for them from the beginning.
Abbi is a college student who’s been shackled with taking care of her siblings and her home while being treated like crap by her mother and step father. She gets a summer job being a housekeeper in Hawaii for a client of step fathers. John a boy around her age is the “client”. He’s going through some stuff on his own and Ab brings him out of his shell. There is a twist I definitely didn’t see coming but it wasn’t unwelcome. It makes you love John and root for their new relationship.
I found myself smiling when I finished this and thinking how cute this book was. It’s a quick and easy read. No cheating and HEA and clean. Spice is zero. Standalone.
It is beautifully written and the flow is amazing. Twist and turns keep you reading. Cliff hanger at the end keeps you wanting to get the next book and fast. Bad boy Leo becomes the hero to Kristen after he looses his heart. The chemistry between them is amazing and the wedding...................is it ever going to happen? Maybe the next book will tell us
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a good story. Abbie has lived a very difficult life thanks to her mother. She takes care of everyone in the house even though she should be a college student doing her own thing. Abbie is a very negative character in regards to her insecurities. She is always waiting for the other show to drop. I’m surprised John didn’t drop her after the thousandth time of her kicking him to the curb. It got old after awhile and kind of turned me off to her character.
They were about to discover one summer can change everything... Fame meets normal when two worlds collide...
Indeed, this book is hilarious and heart-wrenching.
We have our two main characters - our hero (star) and our heroine (normal) - and they were absolutely funny. Loved how their first communication was via notes and to witness how their relationship developed was lovely.
Full of summer, escape, siblings, fame, romance and tragedy.
A slow burn, summer romance. John and Abbi are both running from their families for different reasons. As they bond during their summer in Hawaii, they slowly realize there is something between them. When tragedy strikes, will that both step up when it's needed? Read and check out this sweet slow burn summer romance.
This story was not what I expected. There was a twist about half way through that I wasn't expecting. I loved the characters. I also loved that it stayed somewhat realistic. The girl didn't have some amazing hidden talent and the guy didn't have everything goes his way. There was no physical romance besides a few hot kisses. I loved the two epilogues.
I love how this story was real enough you could relate and yet left you with that perfect feeling of being able to stow away in someone else's drama and happy ending. A must read
