I’ve only been living in the Magicborn world for a few weeks now. But when I’m yanked from sleep by a demon’s blade at my throat, I know we’ve got a problem on our hands. It’s not a run-of-the-mill Nequam, either, but a deadly Caedis. And someone sent him for me.
If that isn’t enough to deal with, the city’s most powerful spellcasters are turning up dead and the Fidei, the order that polices our kind, is sniffing around our coven. It’s no secret that the Magicborn community has no love for our ragtag group, and now it looks like we’re being framed for murder.
Keeping this coven out of prison is going to be a serious challenge, partly because of the secrets that I can’t bring myself to share with the others. My magic’s been malfunctioning. My dreams are being invaded. And my brain’s always spinning, wondering if Matt will ever break the archaic vow that stops him from admitting his feelings for me.
Can the only way out of this mess really be risky alliances with a dangerous vampire and a dark witch who’s betrayed me in the past?
Ignite, the second book in the Coven of Fire series by Sierra Cross, will have you turning the pages to get your fix of forbidden romance, dangerous alliances, and deadly magical secrets.
I live for magic. Modern magic, infused with heart and humor. Sometimes with an edge. Always with bright romantic sparks.
When I’m not spinning urban fantasy tales, you can find me flying after my 6-year-old witchling, cackling with my coven, or savoring a book while cuddled up with my cat familiar and, of course, coffee.
While Alix struggles with her burgeoning powers, matt struggles with his commitment as a guardian, his feelings for Alix and his past. Get ready for razor taut tensions between characters, inner conflicts, demons and allies becoming enemies.
IGNITE by Sierra Cross has all of the quirky relationships, the spitfire attitude that is pure Alix, terrified or not and the incredible revelations just keep on coming! How will Alix’s small coven survive the growing pains it is feeling while her own emotional upheavals just keep on coming?
Vampires in trouble, demons on their tails and in their minds, Sierra Cross can chalk up another winner!

A 5 is just out of reach at this point..but the plot is getting there..
Amazing cover pic again !! You can totally relate to the Alex on the pic from the Alex in your mind. That bad-ass attitude and smirk !!
That being said here is my review. Plot : 4.5 Originality : 5 Main Characters : 5 Chemistry between the Leads : 4 Side Characters : 5 Feel/Emotions : 4 Twists : 4 Writing Style: 5
My Thoughts : Where the hell is Alex's full power ?? I want it now.. PRONTO !! Sigh.. Anyway, the plot had a lot going on. We have Callie switching sides (I like her better than before :D ), dead Marley, Aunt Jenn taking over the Millennium, Kavon the hot Omni who is going to be the skinsuit for Tenebris, cute and innocent little Omnis and if we've not seen it all, we have bossy vampires too !!
In this story, we realize that Alex is really walking on a tight rope between good and evil, oscillating in both worlds. The gang of misfits seem to be complimenting each other very well and it's great to see their bond growing. I am glad that Tenebris did not get hold of Kavon and had to use the slimy Leonard. I don't even want to get into how the vampire director's name is pronounced ;) But, I liked reading the war of words between him and Alex.
We never know which character is on the demon side. And we have a double agent in each book. I can't wait to see more of Alex's power. We know for now that she absorbs power from the magical creatures surrounding her. I wonder what the dominion gene is ??
** I was given a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. **
I thought Alix and her coven had their work cut out for them in the first book, but just about everyone is against them in this one. Throw in secrets that could destroy their group and a "big bad" who tugs at your heartstrings, and this book had me all over the place. And Matt... he is driving me crazy (in the best way). This was such a fun read, and I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
The second book in the series starts off where the first left off and doesn’t stop keeping you in the book until the end and even than you want more.
I love matt and I feel for him at the end. He is questioning himself and I hate to see that. He is so honorable and loyal. Kind and thoughtful but he is struggling and struggles throughout the book.
In this one The Coven is in hot water. They haven’t done anything but that doesn’t stop others from blaming them. Death is happening all around them as they try to figure out how to stop Caedis, keep out of the line of fire with all those powerful witches being killed and the vampires asking them for help but not wanting to be forthright with them.
This is action packed and fraught with tension between the characters. Our characters grow as individuals and a coven. A great continuation and boy do I hope Matt finds his way through his dark mood and his misgivings about himself.
Kavon is an amazing Omni. Poor Matt thinking being an Amalgam is abhorrent. Sorta liking Alix more, she's not a protagonist I've bonded with yet and this is book 2. Asher and Liv are written much better and come alive. On to Book 3, free is good.
Phew! I was a bit worried at the start of the book where Alix was keeping secrets from her coven... A great sequel that leaves you wanting more. Recommended 😊 I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Spelldrift: Coven of Fire continues in this second book. Alix is still learning how to control her magic and still struggling with learning to have faith and trust in her coven members. She is having a hard time opening up to them AND she's keeping secrets! Matt is having his own share of issues - trying to stay true to his Guardian vow (that means hands off of Alix) and accepting his other abilities. They are a team, but still have so much work to do on what that really means. To top that off, they are not being attacked from just one baddie, but have The witches counsel, the Guardian counsel, a Caedis demon, vampires and someone else in the background causing havoc. Put on your ward suit and get ready to jump into the fray! There is so much going on but this author does a great job of knowing when to bombard the senses and when to pull back for a breath. This makes the reader feel they are in the thick of the scene with this crazy group. Can't wait for the next installment to see how our coven regroups, if loyalties will stay true or change (One already jumped ship). Do they have it in themselves to stay together and succeed? Can they reach within themselves to find the strength to overcome their fears? And the most frustrating...will Matt and Alix ever be a item?! Great read!
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review
Now that Tenebris is back in the demon realm for another hundred years Alix is feeling much better until she is awoken in the middle of the night with a knife to her throat by another Caedis. Even though she knows it’s not Tenebris she is surprised that this demon knows her name and was sent for her.
To shore up the wards at the demon gate, the coven seeks out the help of more powerful and knowledgeable spellcasters but each keep turns up dead when the members of the coven show up to meet them. The Fidei believe the Coven of Fire is responsible for the murders and begins investigating them and Larch is determined to bring them down.
The magnetism between Alix and Matt brings a little romance to this enchanting story. Witches, warlocks, vampires and wont’s (humans) are just the start that bring intrigue, mystery, magic and more to book 2 of the Spelldrift, Coven of Fire series.
Alix and her misfit of a coven are all back in Ignite just trying to stay out of trouble but that is kind of hard when spellcasters are turning up dead and they are being blamed for it.
Now Alix and Matt along with the rest of the coven members have to find out who is killing the spellcasters and prove they are innocent. But that is not their only problem the gate of the veil seal is breaking and they must find a way to stop the demons from coming through. Can they prove their innocents? Who is killing the spellcasters?
Alix has some secrets of her own that she is afraid to tell her coven that has to do with her and the demons that is making it through the gate. She doesn't understand herself what is going on and is afraid of the truth and what it may mean. What is Alix hiding?
Meanwhile there is still chemistry between her and Matt that Alix would like to take further but Matt is a guardian and can't or won't break the rules. Other rules are broken why not this one? I would like to see Matt and Alix as a couple. I hope in the next book that there will be a way for the two of them to be together without Matt having to go against what he believes in.
Ignite is filled with loads of magic and witches and demons and vampires that will keep you on the edge of your seat just waiting to see what is around the next corner. I can't wait to read the next book Rage.
If you like reading about witches, magic, demons and vampires then you are going to love Ignite but I would like suggest that you read book #1 Rise first.
The struggle continues as she learns to control her magic along with her feelings for Matt. The team as a whole is running to keep themselves out of trouble and to find out who is framing them. Betrayal is around every corner and now they have to find out who their enemies are to get things back on track. At the same time Matt is having some serious problems and control may be the least of her problems.
Loads of twistedness going on and as the series progresses this author is growing. The second book of the series is even better than the first. And with that ending the third book is looking good too. Great read.
I loved Rise, the first book in Sierra Cross’ Coven of Fire series, with its cleverly thought out world and wonderful heroine. Now that heroine, Alix and her coven of misfits are back for series book 2. The bottom line on this one is easy: if you liked Rise you’re pretty much guaranteed to enjoy Ignite. It’s definitely time to get the kindle blurb’s promised “fix of forbidden romance, dangerous alliances, and deadly magical secrets.” Warning, however, this is dangerous stuff (well written, with great lead and supporting characters and a heck of a neat plot): highly addictive.
I just love this series, book one was brilliant and this book didn't let me down, from page one the author engages you and keeps you turning the pages. It's full of action and twists along the way, and there isn't one boring page. If you love paranormal romance with witches, demons, and shapeshifters then you will love this series. However, I would advise you read book one 'Rise' first, other wise you would be missing out on so much of the story. I honestly can't wait to read the next book in this series. I voluntarily read a review copy of this book.
I am absolutely loving this series! It's very well written with great characters and an action-packed storyline. The Coven of Fire still has plenty to overcome in this second book, some of it being the secrets they keep from each other. This one is just as good as the first with its snark, witty dialogue, characters that will drive you crazy even while you root for them, and so much action that you can barely catch your breath. I can't wait to see what's next for this crew of misfits.
I love all things witchy, and this series is no exception. It's amazingly well written. Sierra Cross has created a world that I just dived right into. Her characters are complex but coherent, and I can sense that she knows exactly where this series is going, even if I can't guess yet. Fantastic work!
I love this book! I’m going to tell you right now that you kind of have to read every book in the series it’s sort of like a soap opera there is no definitive ending there are cliffhanger… But there aren’t embarrassing sex scenes, it’s all story..There was plenty of romance and plenty of hot moments without 100 pages of disgusting sex
This book really hooks you in with lot's of surprises and twists. I really enjoyed the story and love the characters. You want them to find a way to be together. There is lots of action too which keep it every exciting.
Absolutely loving this series it just keeps getting better and better. It is beautifully written, has great characters and the story just flows so well. I am loving every second I am absorbed in these pages. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Alix and Matt, fingers crossed great things.
This is an edge of your seat thrill reading ride that is unique and freshly written. The characters are strong and engaging and story is a nice steady read that will keep you enraptured from beginning to end.
The new Coven of Fire has barely gotten its feet wet when various presiding bodies in the magical world decide they want to have some chats and a new nemesis arrives on the scene - not to mention, Alix is concerned there's something a bit wonky with her magic.
While the stakes were pretty high in the first book, Rise, Cross ratchets up the tension even more, and the Coven finds itself looking at the possibility of having to work with some rather unsavory characters to get everything sorted out.
The story itself is engaging and I enjoyed learning more about the version of our world this series is set in but, for me, the romance aspect tends to fall a bit flat. Admittedly, I'm not a big fan of stories where would-be lovers are kept apart by seemingly arbitrary means, such as a rule that people from groups "A" and "B" aren't allowed to fall in love, without much explanation as to why. Hopefully there will be more of an explanation down the road. Other than that, though, these first two books have been nice, quick, fun reads, and I want to see what happens next.
Ignite, Spelldrift : Coven of Fire, book two by Sierra Cross. I'm giving five stars even though I only give four to books with cliffhangers. This is the second book in the series and the storyline and world building is fantastic! I absolutely love the characters! I can't wait to read the next book! Definitely a must read series!
