I read this slowly and inconsistently on my lunch break at work. It was a quick read, and certainly a little preachy at times. These books have their place, but not really with me.
We both crossed some kind of bridge that : me into womanhood and he more deeply into the role of being a mother as well as father. I think some men fear their feminine side as if being nurturing would take away from their manliness somehow. All my dad knew to do was to love me unconditionally;not surprisingly, that worked just fine.
This will always be a one-story-a-day, kind of a book for me.
I enjoy Chicken Soup for the Soul books, and this one was particularly enjoyable because it wasn't themed. The last couple I've read have been built around the themes of marriage and surviving cancer, and while good, I felt they got repetitive by the end, whereas this book covered a more broad range of topics, so I never knew what to expect in the next story. Loosely it was geared towards women, but it didn't champion the woman at the expense of men or reek of feminism. Instead, the authors selected stories that were geared towards a woman's interest, from children and family, to leaving home to find your place in the world, to carrying on traditions and keeping memories alive. As usual, the stories were a perfect length to read a few while on the treadmill at the gym or grabbing a quick lunch before work. I misplaced the book over the winter when prepping my car for the snow, and relocated it a couple weeks ago, and it was like picking up an old favorite, good to read in any season.
Very inspiring and uplifting. Personally speaking, a woman's CONFIDENCE is her greatest WEAPON. Without it, everything crumbles into pieces: her spirit, power, trust, and faith.
This was an excellent book I enjoyed all of the short stories and I would highly recommend this book to any one who wants an excellent read. I look forward to reading more of this author's work.
I’d heard lots of people saying how much they like this series of books, but it’s not for me, it reminds me a bit of a cross between primary school readers and the inspiring stories in the Reader’s Digest magazine, but told in a very choppy style, so I soon abandoned it. Maybe because I'm vegetarian? Surely not? P.S. Pescetarian, not vegetarian, actually: fish aren't safe, but chickens are. ;-)

This book is older but I still found it entertaining. It was a good distraction from the negativity that has been in the news lately. Comforting, positive, fluff. It's good to read if you are in a slump.
Maybe it's cheesy but most of the stories really can improve your day, your mood at least. Great to leave it at hand and read it while waiting moments at the kitchen or elsewhere
Uplifting . . encouraging . . inspirational! I laughed - often. I cried - a lot! I smiled - through the tears. If you've never had the opportunity to read the "Chicken Soup for the _____" series of books (there are many) I hope you will! The saving grace around completing this one is that I have another waiting at my bedside.
Chicken Soup selalu menyediakan kehangatan pribadi untuk saya. Kisah-kisah yang dipaparkan didalamnya mampu membangkitkan semangat untuk menjalani hidup lebih baik untuk diri sendiri maupun orang lain.
