Nola Blues
Calina grew up in small-town Louisiana, bouncing through foster homes and clinging to one belief: getting into a top university would finally give her the life she had always dreamed of.
But the moment she arrives at Tulane, she is swept into a world of privilege, parties, and people who have no idea what it cost her to get there. When the late nights catch up with her and her grades crash, Calina loses the scholarship holding her new life together.
With nowhere to go, she accepts help from an older student who promises she can make ‘bank’ fast. Calina takes a job at a Bourbon Street nightclub expecting quick cash—and instead steps into a hidden world pulsing beneath the music and Mardi Gras lights.
What begins as a paycheck pulls her deeper into drugs, laundered money, and dangerous people who disappear into the blur of New Orleans nightlife. Worse, Calina begins to realize that the people closest to her may not be who they claim to be.
For a nineteen-year-old who learned long ago that trusting the wrong person can be dangerous, figuring out who is telling the truth may be the difference between finding a way out—and being pulled under for good.
Set against late-1990s New Orleans, Nola Blues is a gritty, fast-moving crime-suspense novel about survival, identity, loyalty, and a young woman discovering just how far her instincts can take her.
