Everything has been taken from Annika — her family, her friends, and even her freedom — by the vampires who enslaved her in the hidden kingdom of The Vale. But now she possesses a magical ring that contains Geneva, the most powerful witch in the world, and she’s ready for revenge.
When Prince Jacen invites vampire princesses from all over the world to the palace to compete for his hand in marriage, Annika finds her chance. By commanding Geneva to turn her into a vampire princess, she can try to win the cold heart of the prince who betrayed her and left her for dead. Can she keep the emotions she used to feel for Jacen in check? Because if her deception works and she becomes his bride, she’ll have full access to the palace... and she can destroy The Vale from the inside.
But with powerful players vying for control of the ring, and a dark magic rising outside the kingdom, there’s far more at stake than just the crown.

I'll say that in terms of plot it is more interesting than The Vampire Wish. There is a bit more about the vampire world politics, but nothing deep or remarkable. Then, the Aladdin retelling part is set a side in this book to give way to a "The Bachelor" retelling. Annika's side of the story is drowned somewhat with all the POVs. There is simply not enough progress from where she left off on the first installment. Actually, in general , the entire book does feel too short, nothing is resolved or fully explored, which seeing as how the story is told from so many POV, it leaves you with a feeling of incompleteness. The book as it is, is not enough. Which is a feeling that does't really make me want to move on to the next book of the series since I don't trust that the next won't have the same issue Thus, I am not sure if I'll read the next installment or not, at the moment I am more inclined to the no.
The Vampire Prince is the second book of a new young adult fantasy series by Michelle Madow. In the first book of the series, The Vampire Wish, we met Annika who had lost her whole family to a vampire attack and was taken hostage to the hidden vampire kingdom of the Vale where she is kept as a human blood slave to provide food for the vampires. Also introduced in the first book was Jacen who was also taken by the vampires against his will but unlike Annika who still remains human Jacen was turned against his wishes and now fights his desire to kill for blood. Jacen and Annika met and Jacen tried to help Annika escape but she was taken away with Jacen being led to believe she died and Annika believing Jacen had betrayed her.
Now in The Vampire Prince Annika finds herself in possession of a magical artifact that has trapped the ancient witch, Geneva. Whoever controls the ring controls Geneva so Annika now has her power behind her as she continues to try to get revenge upon the vampires that killed her family and held her hostage. Meanwhile, Jacen has returned to the kingdom and is being forced to find a bride so with Geneva's help Annika plans to disguise herself and become his bride to have full access to the palace and destroy The Vale from the inside.
As usual Michelle Madow hasn't disappointed me in the least coming up with another great fast paced addition to this series. The story picked up right after the end of the first book and quickly brought the reader back into the story as the characters try to recover from the ending of the first book. Always moving at a quick pace and full of action the story has added in so much more about all of the characters and situations that I can't wait to see what happens at each turn of the page.
This second book also has a bit of Selection or The Bachelor feel to it as Jacen starts looking for a bride. The story isn't quite being done in the same way as either of those but they are definitely brought to mind as the potential brides arrive at the kingdom including Annika in disguise. Being left right in the middle of this story line among others going on in the series is the only reason I didn't rate a perfect five but I will most certainly be anxiously awaiting seeing where the story goes in the next installment and would recommend this to the fantasy/paranormal fans that enjoy fast paced and full of action reads.
I received a free advance copy of this book directly from the author, thank you to Michelle Madow for allowing me to read early.
Thanks to the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review, This doesn't in any way influence my opinion on it.
The Vampire Prince is once again another phenomenal novel from Michelle Madow. After that cliffhanger at the end of The Vampire Wish, I was quite excited to get into this one. As usual, the fast pace quickly eases me into the story. In no time, I find myself enjoying Annika's antics as she tries to pretend to be a Vampire Princess with the help of the ambiguous Geneva. Their plan to masquerade Annika as a princess of a Seventh Vampire Kingdom shrouded with myth (No one can really confirm it's existence but there's been whispers and wondering). Geneva helped Annika changed her appearance and with a dose of royal vampire blood daily, she is able to mask her humanity and appear as a Vampire Princess (Complete with the powers of compulsion). This book really has a The Selection vibe with Jacen having to choose between each of the various princesses. A lot of new characters are involved along with several entertaining plots. The relationship between Jacen and Annika (Now Ana) was sort of put on hold but they did have little moments here and there. Jacen wasn't my favourite person in this book due to his actions. I hope he redeems himself in the next book. More background history on vampires is revealed and more information about the wolves is also found. With so many things going on and different characters with their own respective agendas, The Vampire Prince will keep the reader turning the pages swiftly wanting more. The ending was particularly chilling and I can't wait to see what's next for these characters. Michelle Madow has created a wonderful addition to her refreshingly original vampire series, With her impressive writing style and gorgeous cover, I can't wait till everyone gets a hold of this.
First, I have to say I adore the covers in this series. They are absolutely stunning.
This takes off where The Vampire Wish left, and is compelling from page one. The different points of view, the characterization, and the complications that arise kept me fascinated. There are new characters to add to the mix as the intrigue grows. The marriage competition adds a little The Bachelor/The Selection feel to this story, and the romance between 'should be' enemies definitely has that Romeo & Juliet flair, if only a bit. There is a lot going on in this new series, as the author keeps a fast pace that maintains a breathless quality I couldn't help but be caught up in. Be prepared to drop everything once you start reading, because you won't want to stop.
I received an ARC of the first book in this series and I enjoyed it, even though it was slightly different to what I was expecting! I enjoyed the first book though, so I was looking forward to reading this book! I then received an ARC of this book, so I started reading it as soon as I did! This book started right where the last book stopped, which helped me a lot because I couldn't really remember how the first book ended lol! It also took place over a short space of time, but quite a lot happened in it! The plot also developed from the first book and it did go in a different direction to what I was expecting, but I loved the direction that the author took it in! The plot had a few twist and turns in it too, and I can see these having a bigger impact in the next book! The plot also only took me a few sittings to read! I would have read it in one sitting if I hadn't started reading it so late at night lol! There also wasn't any action and suspense in this book, and very little romance, which did upset me a little! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! I would again say that Annika was the main female character! In this book, Annika had come a long way from the girl introduced at the beginning of the first book! She was fierce and she wanted revenge! I did admire how Annika went about starting her revenge! She was right in the thick of it and that's where she needed to be! Annika had also changed from the first book, but she had been through a lot and she didn't have anyone left! Jacen was again the main male character and sort of love interest of Annika lol! Jacen in this book went with the flow! He didn't want to start something or show his real emotions! Jacen did a good job with hiding his emotions, but I do wish that he had stuck to his guns and been the same Jacen from the first book! I do understand why he wasn't because a lot had happened! Jacen also didn't spend any time with 'Annika' in this book for obvious reasons lol, but I can honestly say that I did miss the romance between them! This book was written from five different point of views! The first book was written from three point of views, so I was expecting this book to be written from the same amount! This book was written from Annika, Jacen, Camelia, Karina and Stephanie's point of views though! Again, Camelia's point of view added a lot and I could also understand why Karina and Stephanie's point of views were in there too! I normally don't like a book being written from more than two different point of views, but I was still able to understand what was going on and connect with all the characters! I also can't wait to read the next book in this series! The ending of this book was left at the perfect place to lead into the next book and was left at a cliff-hanger, so I can't wait to see where the author is going to take the characters story next! The cover for this book is also stunning! I love it as soon as I saw it and it suits the cover for the first book perfectly! Big thank you to Michelle for an ARC of The Vampire Prince!
First one was good, this one was boring and nothing happened or was resolved. Felt like a filler book between 1 and 3. Also, hated that Jacen slept with Eve in this. The girl he loved just died, and he knows he won't keep Eve, so it made me lose all respect for him.
another great addition, left on a bit of a cliffhanger.
I think this is the breath before the plunge, the author is setting all her players in place for a massive showdown.
Annika has joined a somewhat selection type competition, to try and win the prince's hand in marriage with the help of the Genie/witch to take down the Vale, secondary characters and villains are plotting in the background i don't think it will be long before something goes wrong.
It still has the Aladdin type feel to it with a bit of the bachelor thrown in, i love the characters im meant to and dislike the ones im meant to.
Im unsure of the powerful witch tied to the ring im not sure who's side she's ultimately playing for and still wonder why Annika never could be compelled im thinking she may be.
Another page turner from Michelle Madow! This is book two in The Vampire Wish series and begins exactly where book one ended. I won't give away any details, but on the surface is a cute storyline (a'la The Bachelor) where various princesses are vying for Jacen's hand in marriage. But the real plot involves life endangering plans by both Annika and Jacen to destroy the queen/kingdom. I deducted a star for the book ending in a cliff hanger again .... but only because I hate having to wait to see what happens next!!!
Thanks to the author for the ARC for reviewing purposes. This did not influence my review.
Okay whoa...what just happened? One second I was beyond intrigued about the ending of book 1, and now I am desperately reaching for book 3! I loved every word of this book. The development in each of the characters are captivating, the plot is thickening, and the action is becoming more intense. I loved the Aladdin meets the Selection vibe this book has. I also love the new characters that we are introduced to in this story. I am a hopless romantic voting for Annika and Jacen to realize they are ment to be. Oh and I am interested in a new character named Noah. Let's just say I am starting book 3 right now!
What an amazing series this is turning out to be. I really enjoyed the first book, so much so that I had to start book 2 straightaway.
It's well written throughout, told from viewpoints of various characters not just the main two if Jacen and Annika. I think the storyline of Geneva coming into play is an interesting one, can't decide if she is truly loyal to Annika or not or whether she's going to betray her in some way. Looking forward to finding out as I delve in further into the series.
This book ended in a little cliff hanger and introduces us to Stephanie, another reason which makes me want to start book 3 straightaway.
I really enjoyed the first book and it ended on a major cliffhanger so I was eager to read the next part of the story. It doesn't disappoint. You are kept guessing as to what is next and each of them has their own agendas. I really enjoy the characters and that you get each of their points of view. I highly recommend the series and am looking forward to the next one.
This was a great second book to this series. I love that the book didn't go downhill from the first book. The plot of the book is good and I love the twist and turns in the book. The plot really helped the development of the characters and we got to see the quieter side of Annika as Princess Ana. I also like how the book has different POVS and we get to see the story from all of the different characters.
I received this book for review. This is book two in the newest series about vampires. This book plays out like a bachelor type prince needs a princess so everyone comes from the many kingdoms. But a secret plot is in the works to destroy the kingdom with the dating game going on. I liked the first book better but am excited to see how the series continues in the future.
I received a ARC copy from the author that has no sway in the writing of my review. This was so intriguing my heart was beating fast with the suspense of not knowing what would happen to Annika would she get caught? would she nail it? I can't wait for book 3 because this one was amazing.
I received this book as an ARC copy and after reading the first book in the series I could not wait to start the second. I was not disappointed at all! I could not stop reading wanting to know what would come next! I enjoyed the inclusion if some other vampires in this book, it gave it a different angel. I can not wait for the next book in this series and to see how everything develops.

By now you already aware that I love vampire books. I loved the first book in the series, THE VAMPIRE WISH and after that cliffhanger in the end, I couldn’t wait to pick up THE VAMPIRE PRINCE and I wasn’t disappointed, I think that the 2nd book in the series had me falling with characters even more. I couldn’t get enough of the characters, of the story. I feel as if I feel more connected with character after reading this one, especially Annika, she is my favorite character in the series. Annika is impossible to not love, she is fierce, determined and once she sets her mind on something, she won’t give up. Annika has been through a lot, but she keeps on going, she doesn’t give up. I think that she is one of the bravest characters in the book. She goes as far as to pose as vampire princess, in order to attempt to kill Queen Laila. That’s a dangerous mission, especially if she was discovered that she wasn’t a vampire princess but a human. Annika was risking a lot. I don’t know if I would have enough courage to go through what she did.
Out of all princess, I liked Princess Karina the most. I know that she came on completely different mission than others did, but I loved her determination. I know that her main reason for doing it was because she could get Geneva to bring Peter back. Her heart is going be broken all over again. I wonder what Prince Jacen would think of her, once he finds out that it was her that is working with the wolves. I have a feeling that he might like her aleready, maybe not way that he feels about Annika, but I still get a feeling that he enjoys her company. There was a lot more happening in THE VAMPIRE PRINCE then the first book. Considiring what Annika was trying to do, you couldn’t help but be on the edge of your seat. There was always a thought in my head, where I wondered if she would succeed or if she would get caught. If Jacen would find out truth of who she was. There was a part of me, that hoped that she would eventually tell him on her own. I knew that if she didn’t, that it might not end well for her.
I think only person that was suspicious of Annika was Queen Laila. Could you blame her? Considering that Annika picked the kingdom, that was rumored to be non existent. I feel like Annika should have though on it more. I have a feeling that her guard, Tess might suspected that something was off about Annika too. Just the way that she seemed to react towards Annika most of time. At least that is feeling I got. The story, the characters weren’t all that I loved about this book. Did you see the cover for the THE VAMPIRE PRINCE ? It’s breathtaking. If anything, the cover will make you pick up the book. Once again, MICHELLE MADOW created another magical world, that you cannot help but fall in love with. I did.

First of all, I just want to say thank you to Michelle Madow for giving me an ARC of this book to read in exchange for an honest review. No compensation was given, offered, or taken to alter the opinion.
As soon as Michelle sent out the ARC's for this book I immediately began reading it because I was dying to find out what happened next after the shocking cliffhanger ending in The Vampire Wish. I was super glad to find out that this book picks up right where we left off in Vampire Wish. Once I started reading, I could not put this book down and I had it finished in less than 24 hours. While Vampire Wish was narrated in 3 different different points of view, Vampire Prince is narrated in those 3 same points of view and along with a couple other points of view belonging to new characters that we are introduced to in this book. This book begins the vampire princess competition for Jacen's heart, think The Bachelor but with vampires...I don't want to say too much and give anything away, but just know that this book will have you on the edge of your seat. I love Michelle's books and I am looking forward to reading the next installment in this series!
* You need to read the previous book, as this one picks up right where the other one left off.
Annika got the sapphire ring containing the powerful witch Geneva, but instead of honering her deal wit the witch Camelia Annika decides to use the ring to exact revenge on all vampires in the Vale kingdom. And to do that she disguises herself as an vampire princess and will compete in the competition for Jacen's hand, even though he betrayed her and left her to die. Because Annika will get her revenge and if Jacen will be in her way, she will deal with him too.
Well, this book was a lot of pages about nothing. A lot of stuff is getting set-up, but after finishing this I realized actually nothing happened. Therefore, I reached the last page and was surprised the book was over, I actually was confused for a couple of seconds. Now more characters are added I appreciate the perspectives being split in chapters, it makes it a bit easier to follow the story. But on that note, this book might be even worse that the first one and the characters are still bland as fuck and forgettable as hell. Another nope and I will struggle on to the next one.
This book reminded me a little of The Selection.. if The Selection consisted of a castle full of bloodthirsty vampire princesses who each have their own agenda. They're not the only ones with an agenda though. Each character has a different motive it seems. None can trust the other. It's quite interesting. I'm anxious to see how it all plays out.
The ARC of The Vampire Prince by Michelle Madow was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.
I feel like this is going to be a long, drawn out series. Very little progress happened in this book. I was shocked when I turned the last page and that was the end. Like nothing happened. Bunch of princesses show up, eat, drink, screw. I can't say I'm going to keep reading this series if it's going to continue with this slow pace.
Characters: So, while the first book in this series had three points of view this installment introduces another main character to its ranks. I'll get to her in a minute but first, let's talk about Annika and Jacen. Honestly, I didn't feel like they did a whole lot in this book. I mean, technically they did quite a bit, but in terms of character development, they didn't develop all that much, if at all, over the course of this story. This book mainly serves to introduce some new elements to this world, that I'll get to later, so Annika and Jacen pretty much spend the whole book sulking over the other. Camelia also doesn't do much in this book. I mean, she gets some advice on what to do next, but we don't get all that many chapters from her perspective. Finally, we have our newcomer, Karina, and since she's new she's instantly the most appealing character in this book. Don't get me wrong I love (or love to hate) the other POV characters, but honestly, while they do things they don't really do anything. Karina has a bit of a tragic backstory and I'll be interested to see how she'll fit into everyone else's plans.
World Building: The majority of this book is world building and set up. I hesitate using the term filler to describe this book since technically you can't completely cut it out of the series and have it change nothing. Things do happen in this story, it's just that they're spread a bit thin. There are a lot of new elements brought into this world in this book, and at times it could get a bit confusing figuring out how everything lined up. There's a bunch of setup and world building in this book, but as I said, the plot doesn't progress very far, pretty much the author just adds a bit of thinly veiled The Selection flair into her book and adds quite a few new topics and elements into the story to sort of steer it away from the Aladdin retelling that was so integral to book one's plot.
Predictability: Okay, so this book doesn't exactly deliver on the "twists and turns you'll never see coming" that the synopsis promises. Don't get me wrong there were a great handful of times that this book surprised me, but nothing really shocked me to my very core. Again, as I said before, not much really happens in this book I guess that's the theme of this review, so there's not all that much that happens to shock me.
Ending: So, there's not final climax to this book. I mean, again, this book is mostly an excuse to introduce new elements of this world to the reader, and so there wasn't really any climactic moments in this story. Sure, the ending is kind of cliffhanger-y, but since these books come out so close to one another it's not as if it'll be that long before there's more story, so the ending wasn't all that devastating, there are some things I'd like to know but honestly, I can wait.
Rating:
So yeah, nothing really happens in this book. If you loved the first one and want to continue, should you read this book? Hell yes. It probably introduces huge elements that will come into play later. Is it as thrilling a ride as Book 1? No, not at all. In fact, the only reason I'm not giving this book a lower rating is that the story is so short and the time between books is very quick that it's not as if it'll take that long for things to heat up again. P.S. Despite giving this book a low rating, I am still highly anticipating the next installment, I still love the world, this book just sort of felt next to pointless for me.
The Vampire Prince by Michelle Madow is book two in her The Vampire Wish series. The Vampire Prince picks right up where book one leaves off. Annika is still trapped inside the cave with Geneva, but she is formulating an idea of how to tackle her situation. She wants to overthrow the Vale and bring about a change. Her ultimate plan is revenge. She wants to bring down Queen Laila, but bringing down an original vampire is only possible if you are a Nephilim. With the help of Geneva, Annika will make a wish to become something more. She’ll wish to be able to be a contender to catch the attention and heart of Prince Jacen. She believes him to be a liar, a deceiver and to have never cared because of something that Geneva shows her. But the truth is far from that. In the palace Prince Jacen is looking to enact his own plan in bringing about change in the Vale. He knows that he will need to play his cards right. He hopes that with the aid of one of the incoming Princesses that maybe he can find an alley to help him in his quest. Camelia is still intent on her quest to become a vampire, but with the “loss” of Annika, her plans have been thrown off course. But when Queen Laila tells her that there is a way to acquire what it is that they both seek, the temptation is too strong to resist. As more players enter the game, danger becomes more real and closer and closer to home. The Vampire Prince is an engaging story from start to finish. It’s nice to see Annika develop as a character. Annika has high ambitions, but she is using Geneva to help her get her to the place she believes she wants to be. As you follow each of the characters, you see that each of them have their own agendas as to why they are doing what they are doing. Jacen and Annika want to change the Vale, Laila and King Nicholai want to ensure control. As the story shifts from character to character you see the various pieces come together. There isn’t anything that I can complain about concerning this story. The characters are engaging and interesting. The story flows seamlessly from start to finish. There is some sexual content with this story, but it’s nothing graphic so it shouldn’t be too big of an issue for readers. Like the previous book before it this book ends on a cliffhanger, but this one will have you clamoring for the next book in this series. If you are a fan of Michelle Madow and enjoyed her first book, then I highly recommend you snap this book up and dive in! I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. An enjoyable story that truly delivers.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite vampire series ever. Book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off, with Annika finding a magical ring that Geneva, the most powerful witch ever, is trapped inside. Owning the ring makes Geneva obey her and grant her almost anything she wishes. And Annika wants power and revenge. Meanwhile, Jacen is heartbroken because he thinks Annika is dead. He plays along with the vampire version of "the Bachelor", inviting princesses from all the other kingdoms to compete for his hand in matrimony. Of course, he doesn't know that Annika, with Geneva's help, is pretending to be one of those princesses. Will they find each other and realize that they both want to overthrow the queen and bring positive change to the way humans are treated? Or will the plotters and schemers find a way to thwart their efforts?
The book alternates between Annika's and Jacen's perspective, with an occasional chapter narrated by a side character. This helps us to see who is scheming and what others are plotting. It also shows us that Annika and Jacen both want the same things, and if they only weren't so guarded they could work together. They're perfect for each other, just as they were in the first book before evil characters conspired to separate them. The plot moves quickly, introducing the major players and storylines. The first book took place mostly in the human part of the Vale, but this takes place mostly in the palace. We get to see the other side of society - the privileged and powerful vampires. Although this book wasn't much shorter than the average Michelle Madow novel, it flew by and was over too quickly. Can't wait to read the rest of this series. Love these characters!
Oh my gosh this is such a bad book. Yes, it's a quick and easy read, but it's not bad in the way it'd normally be bad.
The writer seems to forget at times that the protagonist is supposed to have great reflexes and not perceive other vampires as fast while she's acting as the princess. While at other times she does seem to remember (which happens more often in these types of books).
Also, I could swear that there's an inconsistency in the lore of how drinking blood from vampire pinces/princesses works and the abilities a human would possess afterwards (also not that remarkable).
However, the main love interest is a pig. He thinks such gross things about women, clearly stating he's (way too) interested in certain women only in a sexual way and not as a long term option (when he thinks his "true love" has just died and can't stop thinking about her (except for thinking about other women's bodies I guess?)). Then, when a woman acts the same way he basically thinks them a slut for it. This would be okay as a cautionary tale for young girls reading this on how men could not be interested in them, but only their body (which is fine if it's going both ways, but the double standards?), except that it feels like the main protagonist will still end up with him. I just don't think it sets a nice example for the target group of this book (young girls).
Lastly, I feel like 50% of the book is reiterating what has already been said and established. It's nice to get a recap sometimes, but oh my.
Overall, especially because of the gross love interest with double standards still being the love interest, I'd say it isn't the best quick easy read that's out there.
