This was nothing like I expected. The original movie was a B Movie gorefest that was basically an excuse to put nudity and weird sex into a movie. (The Humanoids were monsters from the deep attempting to mate with human women.)

However, this comic, which serves as a direct sequel to the movie, is a moving and emotional story closer to the original Frankenstein than the B Movie providing the original source material. The ending was a real downer, but I suppose it was going for a Night of the Living Dead vibe, or for a more modern version, The Mist (the Thomas Jane film, not the tv series.)

Overall this was a surprisingly good comic that told a lot of story in only a few pages. I didn't like the ending, and that took a full star away, but at least I knew what they were going for. If you remember the movie, this is worth a read.
