I started this series with high expectations... Unfortunately they remain unmet. While the storyline was solid and the different take on origins and attributes of the werewolf were thought provoking I found the writing style to be juvenile at best. Just when I got caught up in it the author would ramble on about insignificant things, restating the same thought or concept in different ways. The continued use of the same phrases and word parings I felt was insulting to the reader and uninspired on the part of the author.. Hopefully others enjoyed it more.
This series is great. There’s just one thing. The mc needs to stop with the wishy-washy internal dilemma of wanting to be with the love interest. One minute he’s all “I can do this, I can be both, it’s who I am” and then it’s moody, brooding, “I cant’ let you make you’re own grown up decision to be with me” five minutes later. And it takes up a little too much of the book. Too much twilight in that whole scenario. Kind of made me cringe and annoyed through all of it. But it’s still a great read, and continuation of the series otherwise with a great climax at the end.
In a word. I couldn’t put it down I love when the puzzle pieces start to fall into place and I had an idea of how they would look. So far the first 3books have been like a roller coaster your so sad for jimmy then so happy then sadder still then thrilled. I know I’m reading a good book when the characters become “real” when I’m invested emotionally and this series has done just that. Can’t wait to read the next one.
