Constantine Virgil Georghiu was a Romanian theologian and a Christian minister. His book about the life of Prophet Muhammad has won him much respect among the Muslims, for he has been truly sincere throughout the course of writing and maintained the scholarly standards. Reading such highly religious, and in parts sensitive, books is not easy, and often one tries to be carefull to avoid accepting everything blindly. But this book puts one in a completely different context; since the writer is not a Muslim and never writes on the basis of religious convictions.
Virgil looks towards the personality of Prophet Muhammad from a very different perspective. He does respect him, expresses his sincere feelings and regards him as one of the most merciful, pacifist and charismatic personality the human history has ever witnessed. Throughout the book, one will understand how much respect and love this writer feels for the Prophet. For instance, he regards Him as one of the most powerful commander, politician, diplomat who swayed the minds and soul of his people but never counted Himself as someone higher than them. Whether its Prophet, Islam or Quran, he never intends to analyze them with the religious or secular/ liberal perspectives, rather he chooses to reach the real message that they held/hold for our human civilization.
The book is highly recommended if one wants to have a glimpse of Islam and its message without religious dogmas or secular materialism. You will learn that Islam was and is to unite the humans, not to divide them; to teach us lessons of social and racial equality; and to erect a society where every human is treated equally and justly. And, of course, many more messages that are whether distorted or forgotten long ago.
