I'm reading out of order because I had this novella and didn't have the first book in the series. As it's a novella (it was in the four-story anthology "Supernatural"), it was not a very developed story and basically revolves around two scenes, one when Kane meets Corrine for the first time and another when they are in bed (with him bound so that he can't hurt her because he is in the throes of Samhain lust and has a Demon's strength). I liked Kane's determination to give Corrine what she wanted and his refusal to manipulate her into doing what *he* wanted. As a Mind Demon, he could easily control her mind and influence her responses, but he refused to. However Corrine accepted it all too easily, I felt, but since this is a novella I guess the author didn't have the time or space to draw things out. Also the epilogue leaves things hanging because Kane says he doesn't have the mental connection that Jacob (his older brother) has with his own mate Bella, and it's not explained why, nor is this resolved at the end of the story. In fact, when it ends, Corrine hasn't even fallen in love with Kane yet. That was a most unsatisfying ending.
