Malachi Barnes fell in love with Aiden O’Meara back when they attended university together. To sustain their friendship, he became an expert at hiding his feelings over the years, especially once Aiden started dating their best friend, Fiona Flynn. To protect the relationships, and his heart, Mal has tried to distance himself.

But, owning a business with his best friends makes putting distance between them difficult. Already struggling to find balance in his life, an unexpected visit to the Thread Reader leaves Mal with more questions than answers and choices he’s not ready to make.

When circumstances force Aiden and Mal closer together, Mal questions his ability to hide his feelings any longer. Confronted with uncomfortable options and breaks in his emotional dam, Mal’s life has just been turned upside down.

Warning: Rant filled review ahead, spoilers will happen. Read at your own risk.

I know what the blurb says but WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Are you effing kidding me? What's the purpose of this book? Is it to show someones desperation to be loved that they'll willingly submit themselves to the machinations of an egotistical, self-absorbed, selfish asshat?

This book was immature as hell. First Malachi had to be subjected to watching his soulmate be in a relationship with someone else, his literal soulmate because the underlining theme in this book revolves around the red string of fate that is suppose to interconnect you to the one you're meant to be with. What hurt the most was that Aiden knew they were meant to be together and willingly chose to be with someone else. Miss me with that dumb-shit.

Malachi and Aiden were roommates and when Fiona came along her relationship with Aiden slowly but surely edged Malachi out of his home. He chooses to move out because he can't bear watching the one he loves love someone else. The problem is that every-time Malachi turns around Thing 1 (Aiden) and Thing 2 (Fiona) are in his personal space making it incredibly difficult to mend his fractured heart.

Then at the encouragement of Thing 1, Thing 2 proceeds to try and recruit Malachi to be their third. I felt like Malachi was exploited and manipulated at every turn by Thing 1 and Thing 2. Thing 1 went as far as to sabotage Malachi's chances at moving on with someone else. All Malachi wanted was to be with Thing 1 so I felt like in his desperation to have a relationship with him he allowed himself to be devalued by the one person who the Fates chose to complete him.(If that's how Fate works I'm gonna have to take a Hard Pass!) Later in the book Thing 1 gives Malachi some bullshit ass excuse as to why he willingly chose to be with Thing 2 even though he knew he was always meant to be with Malachi but by that point I already felt such contempt for Thing 1 that I just wanted him to go somewhere and DIE! Thing 1's character is irredeemable. IMO he has to be the worst MC I've ever had the misfortune of reading.

What really chaps my hide is that Malachi isn't even attracted to Thing 2. He's strictly-dickly, so this arrangement isn't beneficial to anyone but Thing 1. This book is a mockery of M/M relationships, poly-amorous relationships and even soulmates. It didn't take the best parts of any of these things and puzzle piece them together until you got something so undeniably whole that even if you didn't understand these concepts you would at least have a new found respect for them. All this author did was make one douche-bag the center of attention between two emotionally damaged people taking whatever scraps he gave them. >=(

I was under the impression this was a M/M romance, however, it's not. It's a weird variation of MMF. Aiden is with Fiona and Mal separately, but they're tied together. I kept reading wondering when Aiden and Mal were going to be together, but it never came. I don't know if the next one in the series will be about them, but if it is, I'll pass.

Now, first off, the writing in this book was very good and it's clear we're going to get some more world building in later books. It was kind of refreshing in this book to get hints of the paranormal and not to have the author just throw everything at you in one book. I definitely liked that aspect.

Onto the bad..this was not my first mmf book but it is my first where the dynamic was setup the way it was in this story. I did not like it. I don't know how to explain this without giving too much away, but I just did not like the way their relationship worked (or appears is going to work). I also was not feeling Fi. She was just excess? I also felt as if The storyline with Sean was unnecessary.

This isn't my usual genre, but I loved the other books by this author so I thought I would give it a try. I wasn't disappointed! I loved the paranormal aspect of this book, it was refreshing. I loved the characters in the book and was disappointed when I can to the last page and I couldn't keep reading on. I look forward to the next book!

This is a beautiful, poignant love story that tugged at my heart strings (or should I say threads? heehee). My heart ached for Malachi throughout the beginning and I couldn't wait for him to realize his love was not so unrequited after all. Despite there being hot m/m sex scenes in this book (and those were the only sex scenes) my overall impression is such a strong sense of how sweet it was. I prefer my menage/triad stories to have romantic relations between all three participants but I can't deny that it was nice to read something different and the friendship love between Fiona and Malachi was beautiful too. I loved how realistically relationship and sex insecurities were portrayed throughout the book as well as the slightly mystical world and small town themes. As this book had a stand alone feel I assume additional stories in the series will focus on a different couple/group within the Thread Reader world rather than center on these characters, though I would dearly love to read more about these three. And the most pressing take away of all - when is the Thread Reader coming to my town? I need an appointment.

Bound to Be is easily one of my favorite books this year. Malachi has secretely been in love with his best friend Aiden since their school days. Aiden is currently with their other best friend Fiona, and Mal feels that he no longer belongs in their shared apartment. It hurts enough working with them in their co-owned art studio. Aiden is the brilliant artist, Mal is the art manager, and Fiona handles sales and commissions. Fiona makes an appointment for Mal to visit the Thread Reader, a religious fortune teller who leads you to your soul mate. The Thread Reader verifies that Mal and Aiden are meant to be together, but for his own well-being Mal has to find a way to distance himself. He loves his friends, he doesn't want to interfere with their happiness, it just hurts him too much to be near Aiden and not be with him. As a fortuitous opportunity puts Aiden and Mal together even closer and Mal struggles even more, Aiden has an unexpected reaction. Everything changes; at once their lives become so natural and so complicated. Will the three best friends be able to make things work out or will they pay in the next life?

This book is well written. It's a glimpse into the lives of three best friends and their love for one another. It all takes place over a few short weeks, but it is a time packed with change. Decisions will be made, their future determined, and lives forever altered. There is risk. But more than anything this is a story of love, of friendship, and romance. There is M/F and M/M. It is hot, hot! It runs the gamut of human emotion where love is involved; jealousy, fear of rejection, hurt, loneliness, hope, joy, elation. It's so well written, that you will also experience these emotions along with the characters. It's an emotional journey.

There is no way my review can do this book justice, because I refuse to add the necessary details. Everyone deserves the pleasure of reading this book for the first time. I will say that the world building is exceptional. Port Lapton is a small, coastal town. The citizens all seem to know each other and are very open and accepting of others. There is a general air of kindness and caring. They follow an ancient religion which includes the Travelers, Thread Readers, and the Soul Minder. Loved the stories. There are ancient rituals associated with the Thread Reader; not only affecting this life, but influenced by past, and shaping future lives. The characters are remarkable. The full cast of characters was incomparable from Sean and Hamilton in the studio to the Conolly sisters playing music; from Jameson to Darcy and Mr Burke; even Boris. They all added a richness to the story. Aiden is a a complex artist; sometimes tortured, often ecstatic. He is completely gripped by his muses. He is selfish, but loving, consumed, and passionate. Fiona is sweet, a force in the business. She's a good, loving woman, and although it may be unfair, she was my least favorite character. She inserted herself into this life and seemed a threat to Mal's happiness, and for me the book revolved around Malachi. "My Angel". Once in a while you come across a fictional character, that is just more. They are beyond special. That's Malachi for me. His love is endless. His needs are nothing compared to what he thinks his loved ones need or want. He is caring, faithful, passionate, considerate. He's pure beauty inside and out. His pain was so real, yet he would do nothing that might possibly hurt Aiden. Aiden was his strength and weakness; his very reason. To live for love and be willing to deny yourself is extraordinary.

I can't recommend this book enough. It left me with a warm afterglow. I will carry these characters with me.

This was such such a beautiful Love story. And while I dont read much M/M I do occassionally read M/M/F. And while it is an M/M/F relationship is is really only the relationship between Malachi (whose perspective the story is from) and Aiden. While Aiden is in a relationship as well with Fiona. At first this story was absolutely heartbreaking, seeing the love Malachi had for Aiden, believing it unrequited, believing they were all just friends. Reading it at first I thought it was just a contemporary MM but threads seemed to come through (such as Leviathans and Sirens) and i read more and realised there was so much more. We get introduced to Thread Readers and their role in the world, and the threads that weave lovers together. Sometimes more than just two, in case of this story. I love paranormal reads and urban fantasy and i like reading contemporary and I adored how seemless it melded and it seemed perfectly acceptable and right for threads to be for lovers.

And it was so much more realistic, even in a world where triads would be more than acceptable, so that was more one barrier removed. And the fact that it was a small town didn't impede the relationship. Maybe nosy people but nothing harmful. Just wanting all three of them to be happy and in love. And get all the juicy details. They didn't just fall into the relationship and it wasn't easy. But i think it was just Malachi didn't make it easy, not because he didn't want love but because he's gad his own past issues with BEING loved. When everything was all comfortable I loved how great they were together, a family but also friends. The way their personalities are they really need each other, even if its in a non romantic relationship, like between Malachi and Fiona. Simple moments like giving her a massage on the couch. And also being in the artworld and the myth of the thread readers! I so can't wait for more in this series!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Bound to Be is told in Malachi's perspective, it is a story that explores the series of events that follow the exploration of feelings and giving into fate. Malachi has been in love with Aiden for years, Aiden however, is dating one of Aiden and Mal's best friends Fiona. Mal makes some decisions that he feels is best at the time that throws all their dynamics through a whirlwind.

The story itself is quite a beautiful story and it is beautifully written. Lyn Forester is a very emotive writer and i could feel the emotion coming off of every page. I laughed when they laughed and cried with they cried, it was an amazing experience.
That being said, there were some things that made me a really uncomfortable, i love MM romance, but this book was written as MMF romance, with two people sharing the man they love. However, for some reason, it just felt that Fiona was an extra, that at times she was just there to fill the space while Mal got his act together. I just felt that this detracted from the story, and the epic love that Mal and Fiona could have shared with Aiden. The MM scenes were super hot and so touchingly perfect, the relationship between the two was divine, i loved every second of it.
I really enjoyed Fiona as a character, you could tell that she just wanted them all to be happy and loved.

I loved that Lyn has given a fresh new perspective in the Gay/Partner sharing genres. Mal was not Bi, he was gay, and he didn't have any interest in starting things romantically with Fiona. He loves Fiona as a friend, but nothing more. This book was so much more than just a basic romance, it showed so much of Mal's internal struggle and opening himself to his self imposed limitations.

This was a really well written book, and i loved it!

Oh man, Lyn Forester outdid herself with this one - I loved it!

A quick synopsis: Malachi is in love with his bestfriend, coworker, and former roommate, Aiden. Aiden is already spoken for, dating their mutual friend/coworker/roommate Fiona. The three of them have been inseparable for years, but as Aiden and Fi grow closer Malachi feels the need to distance himself to preserve their friendship and his sanity. A big commission for their art gallery pushes Aiden and Mal into a very intimate setting and things get even more complicated when the mystical Thread Reader comes to town to reveal their destined soul-mates. Will Mal go after his heart's desire or step aside for someone else's happily-ever-after?

I love everything about this story. I love the premise and Forester's approach to introducing things her characters take as fact (like, of course the Thread Reader can tell you who your soul mate is). I love the characters - Aiden is the perfect amount of distracted/tortured artist without being cliché, Mal is relatable and endearing, Hamilton is a breath of fresh air. Aiden and Mal are somehow incredibly sexy despite having very minimal physical descriptions (which possibly just makes it that much easier to superimpose what you find sexy). The steamy scenes are great, the plot twist at the end was fun and truly unexpected - I don't think there's anything I would change about this story.

PS - this says it's the first of a series, but it is a complete stand-alone story, which makes me love it even more. I could certainly see more happening for these characters if the author wants to, but there's no cliffhanger.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Wow! This book is just beautiful. It shows how beautiful and unique love can be.

This book is narrated by Malachi who is love with his best friend, Aiden. The catch ... his best friend is in love with and dating their other best friend,Fiona. To give them time and space to be a couple he moves out of their shared apartment. He still has to see them everyday as they own a business together. But this is no ordinary world that they live in or a tale of unrequited love. They live in a world where each soul has been crafted by a Soul Maker and then threaded together (soul mates) by the Thread Maker. There are a special group of people that have been gifted with the power to read the connecting threads. They travel from town to town seeing different coupes and people who are seeking their soulmate at the end of their thread, seeking to cut their thread from their soulmate to be threaded to someone else, or to see if they have found their soulmate in their current significant other. Malachi has decided that he doesn't want to see the thread reader. He is confused as to why Aiden and Fiona have yet to go. But one trip to the thread reader gifts him 3 different path choices. It was so amazing to watch story unfold. I literally couldn't put it down. The writer captures your attention and you want know what will happen next, which path Malachi will take, and of course what are Aiden and Fiona's part in his choice.

This beautifully written love story gives us a look at the how fate and love can thread us together. I strongly recommend you read it. Also I can't wait for the next book in this series!

In full honestly, I was a beta reader for this book, even though it's not usually my genre (boy love is hit or miss for me). However, when characters drive a story, then the genre doesn't matter. A good story, written by a great writer, can over come any reader's objections. Bound To Be was a simple tale about love and the threads that bind, woven together by three characters who are vividly in the moment. Malachi, Aiden, and Fiona are worth reading, even if you don't think you'd go for the boy love genre. They may have you thinking differently by the end.

I want to add, one of my favorite things in Bound To Be, besides the characters, is the town of Port Lapton. It's alive in a way few worlds manage in a first book of a (possible) series. Most authors let the location be a set dressing. Ms. Forester gives the town it's own voice and rhythm. Small towns, where everyone knows everyone, hold the lives of happy old ladies, cute couples, sibling rivalry, and family owned businesses. Port Lapton is a small town in a fictional world, but don't tell the residents, they may pat you on the head and hand you a casserole!

Give Bound To Be a shot, you might just fall in love.

I received this book without knowing what it was about. In the beginning, I didn't realize the main character was a man. The first few chapters established the unrequited love Malachi felt towards his best friend, Aiden, but Aiden has a girlfriend, Fiona. They are co-owners of an art gallery where they all work in the town of Port Lapton. As the story moves along, we are introduced to the Thread Readers who are able to read who a person's soul mate is. Malachi is taken to a Thread Reader by Fiona and Aiden, who confirms what he knew all along on who is soul mate is. After the reading, Malachi decides to do nothing and live life as he's been doing. Unbeknownst to him, his soul mate has been trying to tell him that his love is reciprocated. But of course, there is a complication that Malachi has to work through for them to get their Happily Ever After. I did feel a bit confused if this was a paranormal or contemporary story because the magical elements were talked about so little and it wasn't part of their everyday lives. I found this a very entertaining story with several steamy M/M scenes.

This was a sweet MMF story. I like Ms. Foresters writing style, there is nothing in your face for flamboyant about these characters, they are people living their lives who love each other. I enjoyed the mystical aspect of the story that was woven so effortlessly into the story as to be nothing out of the norm. The writer gives just enough information for the reader to draw conclusions and use their imagination, so often these type stories spoon feed every detail, this was refreshing.

I found the triangle of Malachi, Aiden and Fiona a little painful to begin. Mal is self sacrificing to a fault, Fiona seems oblivious and Aiden is (self proclaimed) selfish. The revelation from a visit to the thread reader and Hamilton's impish behavior moved Mal to make a few decisions that were good for all of them. I found myself very happy with the surprises toward the end, that gave me the extra pleasure of thinking back over the story with a new perspective.

I really enjoyed the supporting characters of the nosey town folk. They provided another comical element to the story. I look forward to more stories in this series.

This book was Amazing!!! I was a little iffy on reading it since it is not normally something that I would read but I Loved it!!!!! The MC in this book is a guy (which there are not many out there where the whole book is in the guys POV) named Malachi who is in love with his best friend Aiden who just so happens to be in a relationship with Malachi's other friend Fiona. I thought this book was amazing and at first I didn't even think there was anything supernatural or about Gods in this book until about 1/2 way through. I would totally recommend this book to anyone who loves love whether it is between a male or female or 2 males and a female. I would however warn you that if you do decide to read this (Which I am totally recommending you do) there are some steamy sex scenes that are only M/M so if that makes you uncomfortable just skip those scenes and continue on since this book actually has a story and it is not just sex!!!!!

I love how Lyn Forester sets up her stories! I found myself being emotionally sucked in and could not let go. Don't go into Bound to Be with any sort of expectations for a typical cliche and you'll be good. Bound to Be was by far an awesome read I went into the story expecting there to be some cliches present (mainly characters as their usually is when a tortured soul is involved in emotional drama) however Lyn managed to once again exceed my expectations by putting a spin on the story so its not a cliche but an original. This is only book 1 of the Thread Runner series I can't wait for more ❤️

Adored, adored, adored.
Bound to Be hits all of my buttons: Mal, Aiden, and Fi are so sweet together and work together so well, there's an interesting mythos to the world that's inextricable to the story, and there's the fuzziest happy ending ever. It's not all roses - Aiden's artistic neuroses, Mal's secret pain, Fi's need to see things right, the hidden desires of the thread weavers and the need for second chances - the pain is real and tangible.
Bound to Be, to me, is like the perfect cup of coffee: creamy smooth with sweet notes of bitterness.
Can't wait to see more in this world. Hoping that Jameson and his brothers and Hamilton get their HEAs as well.

I received a free advanced reader copy of this book and voluntarily decided to review it

Aiden, Malachi and Fiona were friends at school and now own a business together. When Aiden and Fi got together Mal tried to bury his feelings and his hurt, he even moved out so that they had their space. Circumstances change, can Mal find happiness with Aiden and do so without losing Fi as a friend?

This is a well written ménage romance but with a twist. Lyn Forester has written a beautiful love story, which is emotional and touching, her MM sex scenes are beautiful and it is just an amazing story which I highly recommend

All I can say is ... WOW!! I absolutely ate this book up. You can't help but feel every emotion Mal is going through within this book. From the agonizing pain of seeing his two best friends in love to the hopeful/fearful reaction that he might get everything he wants! It's a rollercoaster of emotions where you're screaming for Mal to have the one thing he's always wanted. I loved the scenes with Hamilton and his chirpy personality, so the ending was the icing on the cake for me!! The second book can't come quick enough and I'm excited to see where the author takes this series next!

What a beautifully written love story. I lost myself in this so thoroughly, it took me several moments to come back to reality. Lyn Forester weaves the threads of this tale with an expert, delicate touch...pulling you ever tighter into Mal, Aiden, and Fiona's lives. My heart sings after reading this, and my belief in love is reinforced tenfold. The steamy scenes are artistic and avoid some of the more caustic terms often found there, and I find myself really hoping there will be more books taking place in this world where Leviathans migrate and Sirens have designated hunting grounds.

I'll be honest, boy-love isn't my favorite genre. But I was so enamored with Lyn's Poison World books, that I wanted to read Bound to Be. I was luck enough to be a beta reader and enjoyed every moment of it. Can I just say that the town of Port Lapton was one of the best characters in the book? I found myself adoring Mal, Aiden, and Fiona, but the town was so charming and rich that I want to read this book again! Hopefully there will be more stories in this Thread Reader world, because it was fabulous!

Beautiful and unique story. I can say without a doubt I have yet to find a book by Lyn Forester that I haven't enjoyed and she didn't disappoint this time either! A unique tale that will gladly recommend to those who do not mind Menage or M/M relationships. I do jot know how she can manage to make her characters seem so alive. I found myself laughing and yet wondering what the fate of these characters would be. I can't wait to see what happens next with this series.

It was a little slow at the beginning and a little confusing for me about the path the story would take. I enjoyed the book the moment I knew which way the story would go. I like the way how it's realistic instead of being almost perfect a menage without trying. The maincharacter is easy to relate to and sweeps you up in the story and won't let you go until the end. The end was a suprising one I really didn't see coming.

overall is it a good book and not too overly sweet to read.

This was a really good love story. As other readers have posted this is about Malachi who is secretly in love with his friend Aiden, but he is in a relationship with Fiona and they are all friends. The story goes on to show the relationship build between both Malachi and Aiden. The writing was really good in this story and the author made sure to draw you in with the story. This story is mainly MM, which is a first for me but I did not mind it and like I said it was a joy to read.

At first I wasn't to in to this book, I really didn't know what direction it was going. I wasn't going to give up on it and I am glad I didn't. All the characters really were something else from Mal who kept his love for Aiden to himself, to Aiden who is that type of Artist who gets lost in his work and is oblivious to everything and Fiona who loves Aiden, and Mal is her Best Friend. Once I got into it the story flowed and I loved how it played out.

This is a must read! Malachi, Fiona, and Aiden are a wonderful trio. The author: Lyn Forester did a great job pulling us into their world. She made us want to "root" for the pairing of Mal and Aiden. I would have liked to have had a bit more background as to who the characters were but hoping that might show up in future books. And as for future books, I look forward to reading them!

I loved this story. It was hot. I like that Mal seems human, and relatable. I love the whole thread runner aspect. It puts a cool twist into a M\M\F relationship. I hope the story continues and we get to follow their life together more. I'd be interested to see if Mal and Do ever end up experimenting in the bedroom.

Different but loved it

This isn't the usual kind of book I would reader. For starters the MC is male and I wouldn't normally read books knowing that but this book is magical. It has a slight fantasy element but other than that it's real life pretty much. Aiden is adorable, why can't I have one haha?

A steady and generally enjoyable read, Bound to Be lets the reader find the hints and secrets themselves without Lyn Forester having to tell the reader what is what.
While it did take me a few chapters to get into the story, it was worth continuing to the end.
I'm looking forward to the next book, and hoping for more world building.
