G. Bailey is a USA Today bestselling author of books that are filled with everything from dragons to pirates. Plus, fantasy worlds and breath-taking adventures. Oh, and some swoon-worthy men that no girl could forget. G. Bailey is from the very rainy U.K. where she lives with her husband, two children and three cheeky dogs.
Elliot King is definitely the silent broody brother out of the King siblings. At least he was. I guess a certain blonde was all it took for the brood to smile and actually talk . It was so weird, but amazing at the same time! I'm so glad we got to see him open up and see him get his much deserved happy ending. Personally, I think he had it the worst growing up with all of those women... That's probably why he was the way he was.
Allie was sweet and hilarious. She says everything that's on her mind, and she doesn't care who hears it. I'm glad that she didn't let anything drag her down! (I really want to try one of her famous cakes. I mean how good can they really be??)
WE NEED MORE LUKE!! We barely get to see him, and it's sad. Wonder what happened with him and Emellia?!
Not really sure how I feel about Harley's whole thing with Tilly. From what little we've seen, it looks like a hugeee insta love. Which is dreadful!! I am excited to get into Harley's head though. It might be nice to see him act like a 24 year old. I always imagined him as 40 because of how old he acts.
Ok now to my review. Elliot is the quiet brother. He doesn't speak unless he has something to say and he sometimes feels like the darkest of the brothers. After reading this, I understood. He went through a lot more of the crap from their father in order to protect Sebastian and Luke. He's secretly watched and obsessed over Allie for years and when new information comes to light in the previous book, nothing is holding him back from what he wants anymore. And what Elliott wants is Allie.
Allie has been a supporting character in the past two books, but she has always been a presence. She has absolutely no filter and is hilarious as she blurts out exactly what she's thinking. She has always denied her feelings for Elliot because he has made her life miserable since middle school, but when he suddenly starts treating her differently, she's forced to confront them. The problem is that everyone's got secrets in this town, but her family's is the biggest and she is oblivious...until she's not.
I loved seeing this relationship come together and seeing a different side to my favorite broody brother. I really felt bad for Allie when she discovered the truth and all that she went through and almost lost. All in all a great emotional funny read!
Great addition to the King Brothers series. I was really excited to read Eliot's story because the last book showed us how much he sacrificed for Sebastian. It made me see Eliot in a different light. This book showed us the loving side of Elliott. He has spent most of his life fighting his attraction to Allie. After he found out she was clueless about her father's business he decided to go for the girl he's always wanted. Allie has always liked Elliott but he's treated her terribly for years. He has a lot of grovelling to do to win his girl. I enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to reading the next book as Harley is my favorite King brother.
Blurb: The Kings will destroy you, but I know you can’t walk away.
Elliot King has only ever wanted one girl. Allie Lewis has only ever avoided one boy. Family secrets have kept them apart for years, but Elliot and Allie can’t resist each other anymore. They say opposites attract, but in Elliot and Allie’s case, they have to make sure they don’t kill each other first.
Elliot has to be my favorite of this series thus far. He is such a fascinating character with so many different layers. You have the feeling he is cold and a little unfeeling to everyone but his brothers and sister. This book shows how painful Elliot's life has been and that he hides the pain through his cold exterior. Elliot has always been attracted to Allie and has pretty much loved her from afar. Even over the years when Elliot pushed Allie away, he still loved her. He just always masked the love with hate. When Elliot finds out the reason he pushed Allie away was a lie, will he be able to prove to Allie he always loved her? This book really pulled at your emotional strings and made you root for Elliot's HEA.
I'm a little torn on my rating for this one. I absolutely love the characters and the story. But the editing is atrocious.
Elliot is the brother I'm most intrigued by (hey, every girl loves a bad biker boy, right?). So I really loved getting to read about him and Allie.
I feel like we got a much better view into all the brothers' past with Elliot's story.
I will say, it felt like we discussed Elliot's past with Allie more in the previous two books though. In those, any time they were around each other it was mentioned that they had a tense past. I'm fine with not re-hashing it, but the book is promoted as being able to be read as a stand alone. And I feel like, especially with this installment, that the reader would be missing out on some of the story if they took that route.
Very much so like the first two books, it takes a dark turn for the climax. I really like it though. It helps things feel more real and less "fairy tale romance" kind of thing.
I was kind of surprised there wasn't MORE "heat" from this book. I don't really mind one way or the other, but with the way Allie was portrayed in previous books as being mildly sex-obsessed (in a light, fun way) and Elliot as being this kind of sexy-enigma, I thought there'd be more bits. Though there are a couple hints that things are a little more "risque" in the bedroom than with previous books, but nothing overt. I guess I just anticipated more of that.
All in all, I REALLY liked the book, but Bailey, PLEASE get a better proof reader. I'm available to beta if you're in need.
Elliot and Allie have been playing this game since they were children. He pretends he doesn't want her, she pretends she hates him. Everyone can see the truth. There has only ever been, Elliot and Allie. Family secrets, wrong assumptions, fatherly threats have kept them apart. But they can't fight it any longer. Their desires are too strong, they can no longer deny their feelings for one another. Sebastian will get his month of cakes. Elliot will get his true love. But is it really that simple? Can they actually be together or will history catch up to them? The threats were not just empty promises. Lives are on the line, the danger is real, and not everyone will walk away unscathed.
This is the third book in the King Brother's series. It is not my favorite. Don't get me wrong, It is entertaining. I love the King Family. I love that we get plenty of time with Izzy and Blake, Sebastian and Maisy, Harley, and Luke. I adore little Jake. I really like the introduction of Emilia and the return of Tilly to Izzy's world. I think this book fell short of my expectations for two reasons. There had been too much build-up for these two in the first two books. Their relationship would have had to be epic to live up to the foreplay. It was not. It was too predictable. I could have gotten past this, if not for their ugly history. Allie may have been confrontational each time she was around Elliot, but his behavior crossed a line. He was deliberately cruel. He had his reasons, but the things he said to her were way to hurtful to get over as quickly as Allie did. There would be too much pain and doubt to forgive immediately. No female is that understanding nor should they be. And now to sound like a walking contradiction I loved Elliot in this book. Getting to know him better was the best part of the book. I am not a huge Allie fan still and I am not crazy about their relationship but I do love the brooding biker boy!
Even with my personal issues about Allie and Elliot there is no denying that this is an entertaining read full of suspense, humor, sexiness, and family. I'm not sure what I think about how it all played out but it did allow for the bad guy to remain relevant and the danger to continue. I look forward to Harley's book. He's most deserving of a happily ever after!
EEEK I've been so hyped for this book since reading Izzy's story. For some reason Elliot has always attracted my attention and I was so excited to read his story! I loved the idea of frenemies to lovers and just loved his relationship with Allie in the first two books.
Past is Elliot and Allie's book. These guys have had a love hate (emphasis on the hate) relationship for years. While they started off as friends when they were young, one night changes everything in Elliot's world and his attraction to Allie is barely overwhelmed by his anger and hate. But once it's clear that Allie is ignorant to the horrors of Elliot's life, he is able to move past his hate and finally get the girl he's obsessed over for years.
This book is very aptly named because it deals a lot with the past. We learn so much more about the King family and the awful things their father did. We also get to see tons of glimpses of Allie and Elliot growing up. Family is a huge theme in the King Brothers series and this book definitely emphasizes that fact.
I really loved reading Elliot and Allie's story, but this book also got me hooked on Harley King. He might just be my favorite... but I guess I'll find out for sure in his book next!
I have been waiting with bated breath for this book! Elliot is thee bad boy book boyfriend you've been waiting for. I love Allie as well, she's perfect for him, and even though I can't believe she was that nieve too her father's true personality and the fact that he was a monster, I've learned that these King brothers and their women are the masters at secrets and miscommunication. I felt horrible for Tristan and the hand he was dealt but he did everything he could to protect Allie. I'm hoping for a book on him *wink, wink) I love the devotion, strength, love, and sexy times that make up Allie and Cookies relationship. They made me laugh, cry, and fan myself. I'm so happy for both of them to finally put aside their pride and armor to open up to each other and find their forever in each other. Elliot finally has his reason for loving and Allie finally had her HEA and the family she deserves. I love this family and how each book gets better and better. On to the Eldest brother and Father figure Harley. I know his last is gonna be worse than the others but I can't wait to see him happy!!
I grabbed the box set from KU. I choked down the first 4 but by the time I reach Luke I just couldn’t do it anymore.
Izzy’s story was ok. Seb’s story was ok. Elliott’s is starting to be less ok. All of the stories have been highly improbable and this one was worse. The author broke the time line so many times it was nauseating. The previous stories were decent but this one starts you down the road to pretty awful. I have it 3 stars for the decent romance in it but the “suspense” portion was pretty badly written.
I’m in the U.S. so I really struggled with the sentence structure and really odd way she wrote the characters speaking. I don’t know if it’s bad grammar or just that drastically different from over here.
The characters did pull me in, hence why I managed four of the stories. The plot holes get increasingly bigger with each story. They were fist sized in this one.
I’m honestly surprised by the number of people that say they just loved these books. They are honestly mediocre at best in my opinion.
I couldn't wait to read Elliot's story, he was the quiet brooding brother and I felt he had lots to contribute to the story of the King brothers and man, I was not disappointed.
Allie was made for him, it was always her. It was obvious to everyone around them, it just took a little time for them to actually admit that they liked each other.
Although this book had lots of happy moments I felt that I was much darker than the previous, It really showed what lengths Arthur would go for his cause. It was apparent that he was a horrible man, ruthless even but this book really drove the point home.
I'm really glad that Elliot and Allie found their way and got the hea they deserved, even though I don't think that's the last we will hear from Arthur.
My only complaint is.. that I didn't find this series sooner !

Love this series because it deals with real issues. The characters are true unto themselves. They look out for family no matter what. But... they also realize that family is more than those that share your blood. Family are those that you choose to love, to let into your sphere. Past mistakes come back to be resolved in this book. Elliott is perhaps the one sibling that in the books leading up to his story, you really worry and wonder about. He seems the most introverted of the bunch. Allie has long been the source of humor and spunk. She's the bestie that keeps the group together. I've always wanted to see what would happen if they just gave into their attraction. Ms. Bailey has spun one addictive and purely brilliant series that tugs upon your heart and also keeps you rooting for the Kings.
Elliot is definitely the guarded brother. We get a little taste of why in the last book but now we get the whole story!Elliot is such a fascinating character with so many different layers. He is cold and a little unfeeling to everyone but his brothers and sister. This book shows how painful and traumatic Elliot's life really has been.
Elliot has always been in love Allie and has loved her from afar since they first met. Even over the years when Elliot pushed Allie away, he still loved her and pined after her. He just always masked the love with hate. When Elliot finds out the reason he pushed Allie away was a lie, will he be able to prove to Allie he always loved her? This book really delivers at pulling your emotional heartstrings and makes you root for a well deserved happy ending for Elliot.
Each book in this series makes you fall for the King brother in question. It's very hard to decide on your favorite and that is the beauty of the writer. She's created a family that you want to call your own and protect with your all. This is a great series that will have you grinning from ear to ear and then blushing the next moment. A very good read that will make you forget your reality for a little while.
I am now getting used to reading these books with all the errors. But there was one whole paragraph in this book that I didn't even understand at all. I must have read it thirty times trying to understand it...but never did. Still can't imagine that the author doesn't know the difference between bought and brought!! The King' siblings' stories are so entertaining and you really get hooked on their family drama. All likable characters (even Elliot). Glad he finally found his "happy". Feel bad for Allie that her family turned out to be so sucky. Unbelievable that a kid can own a bar...Elliot just turned 18. How did he get all the permits when he was only 17?? I am looking forward to Harley's book though.
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*** This book was totally not what I expected but I fell in love with the characters and book itself. For all my Tijan followers, there is a Tijan feel to this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Elliot is the quiet one who takes care of the family and will hold the grudges necessary. After reading this book, you will get a better view on why Elliot is the way he is. His father made him do so much more than I realized in the previous books. Elliot's story is the 3rd book of the series and while the other books don't follow him, you will see much of him in the other books. If you have not had a chance to read this book yet, I suggest you go grab your copy and do so now!
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
I have been dying for Elliot and Allie to finally figure things out and I was so not disappointed! Of course there has to be lots of obstacles in their way with the main one being her dad but the lengths they go through to pull it off left me breathless. Allie really impressed me with her dedication to family I must say and that ending was surprising to say the least. It sets things up nicely for Harley's turn though which will be epic to say the least as he so needs someone to take care of him for a change. The King brothers so rule and if you enjoy contemporary pretty much new adult romance with a fighting theme then you really have to read these. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
I love this series, it just gets better and better with each book. Allie and Elliot have a love/hate relationship and have been at odds with each other since they were little kids. With both of them being stubborn and not willing to admit they like each other, it is a battle to see who caves first. Allie and Elliot have a lot to face and overcome before they can have the happy ending they want from both of their past and from Allie’s father. Amazing series and another brilliant story from G. bailey I am excited to read the next book.
I liked Allie from the very first book and I always had a feeling there was something more going on with her and Elliot. They have a rough past, but this book gives them a chance to try to overcome it and get their own HEA. There is a lot of drama in this book - probably the most so far. Allie and Elliot have some roadblocks to overcome, but their chemistry/connection is always undeniable! Great read.
And the Kinds do it again! Another wonder story to add to the brothers tail. I loved it and could not put it down. Elliot's story this round and I love how everything just falls into place in this read. This story and the others in this series have really taken a place up in my heart! G. Bailey really knows how to pull a reader in with her amazing writings and stories. This is a must for the series so snag it and read it
I love the King Brothers. G. Bailey writes this series with heart!! There is a feeling of family and togetherness with these books that keeps me coming back. In Past we have Elliot and Allie's story. I have been wanting to read this one since book one, Elliot had caught my eye and I wanted to hear his story. I was not disappointed. I was wore out somewhat with all of the ups and downs, but it was oh so worth it. Great story and engaging series.
Elliot has only ever loved one woman, Allie, but he watches from afar. He can’t tell her why, he also can’t stop punishing her for others wrongdoings.
Allie has been kept in the dark regarding her fathers shady dealings but when your sibling is in trouble what are you willing to risk to keep them safe, love? life? Find out in “Past”!
Will Elliot and Allie get a chance to be together, can they put the past behind them and move forward.
I got books 1-3 for free and have been binge reading them (so glad I had some free days). I love G. Bailey’s writhing styles and have read already a lot of her books and this series isn’t different. I am definitely buying the rest of this series just to know how it will end (if it ends) and to get to know all of the secrets. If you love suspense, love and action in your books then you have to read this series!
I love this book and this series of books but the grammar is starting to annoy me so much. There's words missing or added words where there shouldn't be. Other than that there is no other faults to this story. Gutted I'm having to wait until 2018 for the fourth book though! I think it'll be a doosy!
Just can’t get enough of those kings Elliott finally lands his SOS and things can’t be better but how will Author get his revenge on the brothers does anyone else hate him as much as I do and now Tilly is back in town anyone else excited to see how Harley and Tilly work out
Everything keeps getting hotter and more dangerous with the King brothers. With Elliot finally admitting his love for Allie and her about him. But finding out your father is a monster doesn't help things either I love that Jake and the others are involved in this book as well. So much details! Can't wait to read Harley's story next!
Ahh!! The good old hot and cold, back and forth! I honestly love these books! Yep hate turned to love thing is hot and a little relatable! Elliot and the other King boys have had one hell of a childhood. I love seeing their individual pasta and the love they find once older. Gem definitely has not disappointed with this series! Highly recommend this read! Could not put it down!
I love enemy to friends stories. One of my guilty pleasures is reading a book about a man who is rude to the FMC because he's head over heels for her but can't have her. I love when the man finally realizes he's in love and has to win her over. Groveling is high on my "Yasss" list! Elliot and Allie are very real and relatable and I loved reading their story.
Sorry not sorry, I kind of liked El's story a teensy weensy, a tad bit better than Seb's (again, my opinion). We wanted to know Al's & El's story and their past, tah-dah. We get to see a snippet of Harley and Tilly set up toward the end El's HEA, so we know whose book is next. Let's find out what T's bidding and how H's HEA come to be because I can't wait.
I had expected something more intense with Elliot's story. His personality in the first two books didn't come across the same in this one. He seemed softened up. The story line had some of the sameness as the 2nd book with the girlfriend issues. The Arthur story line gets ramped up but then seems to fizzle. The book was still a good read but just not as much as I had expected.
I LOVED getting into Elliot's head. I have a thing for moody boys, and I couldn't wait to get a chance to understand him more. It was heartbreaking to learn more about his past, but it helped to understand why he is the way he is in the earlier books. I'm so excited that he's finally getting the chance to be happy.
