Edge of End

Rate this book
Jonathan wakes up in a desert, his past wiped from his mind. A search of his clothes for clues to his identity yields no results. Who is he? Who brought him here? And why?

He has only two choices to move forward: certain death in an endless desert or a little town he sees in the distance.

Empty streets, dilapidated houses, and dusty cars suggest an abandoned town. There's no one to ask for help, nowhere to go. Jonathan wanders the town in search of any sign of life as he tries to regain his lost memory. Disturbing visions haunt him, and apparitions call to him, causing him to doubt his sanity. Soon, Jonathan comes to the realization that absolute evil dwells in the town, always seeking fresh souls. The seemingly dead town is only outwardly empty.

Grey skies, no sun, no days, and no nights mean no sense of time. With only one entrance and one exit, the path to escape is filled with terrifying creatures and phenomena Jonathan has never envisioned, even in his worst nightmares.

He meets a beautiful woman named Elizabeth, who seems to be normal and friendly, but is she? Jonathan has to work his way through the horrendous town, figure out his past, and find his future if he has one.

H.G. Suren has again, written another page turner. I would have given 5 stars but there were a few grammatical errors.

Science fiction, action, mystery, plus lots of thrills are in this inventive story. The continuous action and dramatic events kept me in a never ending desire to want to keep reading without putting it down.

Are the characters in limbo, hell, or someplace else? Would they be able to redeem themselves or live in a never ending place of horror. If you are someone who enjoys these type of reads, I highly recommend considering reading this.

I received an e-version of Edge of End: A Novel by H. G. Suren aka Suren Hakobyan.

I have read this author's work before and enjoyed it immensely (since I have seen the name Suren presented first and last, I don't know whether it is his first or last name, I am proceeding with the belief that Suren is his surname). For me Edge of End far surpasses what I've read from him in the past, and that is saying a lot since as I recall, I rated The Silent City five stars.

Edge of End reads like an extended Twilight Zone (and that is a very good thing). Our main character is caught in an incomprehensible situation. He has to learn as he goes along and the consequences for making a mistake are dire indeed. Edge of End is presented as a horror story, and no doubt it is, but it also is extremely suspenseful. Graphic, gruesome, violent, action, almost graphic sexuality, intrigue, romance, heroism and psychological mind games.

Edge of End begins in a life or death struggle and continues non-stop (literally) for the entire book. There is no let up in the story at all. It kept me riveted (I even had a dream set in this story, and that does not happen to me often). Though I was not able to read it in one setting, I was able to pick up the story with no problem when I came back to it.

A very scary thought to even imagine this story in anyway approaching reality (talk about scared straight). But there is no denying the spiritual aspects to this story. It is a story of right and vs wrong, good vs evil, redemption, and selfishness vs. selflessness.

Edge of End : A Novel by H. G. Suren (that's how his name is presented on this book) is an awesome story to get lost in and scare the snot out of yourself with. Enjoy!

I received Edge of End: A Novel by H.G. Suren from the Author for an honest review.
He woke up in the desert.
He was dead but didn't know it.
Well almost.
He doesn't know where he is or who he is.
He stumbles in a deserted town. It is empty but it isn't.
It is the beginning of a nightmare but he isn't asleep.
Jonathan begins a journey of nightmare proportions as he tries to discover who he is, where is he and what happened to bring him here. His travelling companions are old man Malcom and beautiful Elizabeth who both have their own secrets.
They battle evil, demons and other residents of the town all trying to stop Jonathan reaching a beam of light - his salvation.
You will be drawn into Jonathan's story from the first page and be on the edge of your seat until you turn the last one.

I was sent this book in e-reader form by Mr. Suren. I really enjoyed reading it! I was left wondering to the very end what the characters did to end up where they did and where this place actually was or if it was even real. I love the weaving of mystery and horror with a little bit of romance. Definitely a book I will be keeping in my collection.

Well, it was a very good story. But I thought it was too long and I think much could be cut from the book to help it flow better.

I enjoyed the plot. I appreciated the moral of the story. The characters were very well developed. But the story could have been told in half the words.

Strange but good

The story pulls you in from the first page. I tried to put it down but I found myself reading every chance I got. Can't wait to read his next book.

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The story was intriguing right from the beginning, I wanted to know where Johnathan was and why and enjoyed trying to piece things together along with him. I ended up with my suspicions as to where and why and was almost right!

But while I enjoyed the story well enough, there were moments of dissonance for me in the way the author described what was going on and how the characters felt and reacted in certain situations - I just felt that how they were reacting wasn't how "real" people would and it would jar me from the story.

The ending was quite satisfying though, which I'm very glad of - I can't stand depressing books that end with no hope for the characters whose lives you've just been wrapped up in.

I was given a free e-book copy of "Edge of end" in exchange for an honest review.

As a person who believes in an afterlife, the only ideas that I have been nurtured with are the concepts of Heaven and Hell. Never once had I visualised a place in between, a purgatory (Sort of...) Morsfinis and the author (in some ways) are responsible for opening up a new sense of understanding before me, for which I am grateful.

The story explores the life of the protagonist (or rather, the afterlife) where he comes to the understanding that he is headed for a sure Hell owing to a life of crime that he has no memories of. The character has been so designed that you feel involved alongside him at each step, facing the lifeless and absurd town, it's weird and heathen residents, truth defying supernatural occurrences and moreover, his struggles with his internal demons and his forgotten past, which most of us will relate to.

Most of the story seems to be shrouded in a cloud of mystery as every other character in the story seems to speak in riddles which is quite thrilling and enthralling at first but gets monotonous and to be honest, a little frustrating at a later point in the story. However the writer makes up for it in the description forefront. Side characters are enthusing as well as the protagonist and the antagonist (who pretty much lived up to my expectations.)

In all, it has been an enthralling joyride for the little suppressed adventure craving within me. It has all the qualities of a promising read; A flowy storyline, challenging Anti-hero elements, internal conflicts, all leading to a subtle yet majestic ending.

Thank you for giving me a chance to read your work.

I received a Kindle copy through a giveaway - thank you! My opinion is my own.
The actual rating I'd like to give this book is a 3.5. I'll start with the positives. The ideas put into this book are very creative and interesting. It is a new twist on old theology. However, the prose can be awkward at times and the dialogue can come across as forced. All in all, I'd say it's worth checking out if you like odd twists in your stories.
