When Michelle Marlow, a latent telepath, first touched Hankura Narcaza's mind when they were children, he barely knew what psi-mates were. But as an adult he could no longer deny their connection. When she is nearly killed in a street fight on the dystopian Earth of the distant future, Hankura knows he must go there and find her for his soul to ever know peace, no matter that it could very well cost him his life
Compelled by his family to return to Aledus, Hankura takes Michell with him. Life on Aledus is complicated by family dynamics and discriminatory laws against psions. Life on Aledus for the psi-mates is more difficult than they ever dreamed.

A great premise to a story but I have a couple of major problems. Michelle Marlow and Hankura Narcaza have known they were mates since before puberty. Yet he ingnored her and her desperate situation until such time as she nearly dies. This screams selfish, egotistical and self-absorbed. Needless to say they have issues to work through. These are the only reasons I gave it a 3.75 rating. He definitely needs to get his head out of his tail and think about Michelle More. She has had to fight to survive and deserves beter. They finallyseem to be doing well and finding a balance when the laws and prejudices threaten to tear them apart. Can they find a place where they are accepted and be happy?
Well written. This is a dystopian type series that has you fully involved from the start. Even if it is only to slap Hankura silly. Then the story evolves as do the characters. This was an interesting read and I definitely want to see where the series goes from here.
My rating of "Psion - The Alden Series Book 1 " is 3.75 out of 5 stars.
I was completely drawn into this book from the very first chapter. The connection between Michelle Marlow and Hankura Narcaza is powerful in a way that feels both otherworldly and deeply human. Their bond as psi-mates never feels forced, it grows naturally, with moments of tenderness, fear, and resilience that kept me emotionally invested the whole way through.
The author does an incredible job building a dystopian future Earth that feels gritty and dangerous, and Hankura’s desperate journey to find Michelle had me turning pages late into the night. When the story shifts to Aledus, the world becomes even richer. The political tension, the prejudice against psions, and the complex family dynamics all add real depth without ever slowing down the narrative.
What really stays with me is how personal the story feels. Despite the futuristic setting, the struggles love, identity, belonging, discrimination are universal. And the relationship between Michelle and Hankura is written with such sincerity that I found myself rooting for them through every obstacle.
If you enjoy sci-fi worlds with heart, well-developed characters, and a romance that feels truly earned, this book is absolutely worth the read. I’m still thinking about it days later, which to me is the sign of a great story.
Almost took a pass on this one which was available as a freebie but not highly rated. Then I saw the rating was skewed by a single 1 star rating so I decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did. This was s fun book, well written and with a perfectly decent HFN ending. Read the blurb if you want to know what it’s about. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on with praises. Instead I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
This story has a lot going on and it will drive you on a rollercoaster of emotions, both Good and bad. Although i enjoyed reading every single word, there were times i was so mad almost flung my phone on a wall due to some of the injustice in Aledan. But i guess that's what made it so good.
I recieved a free advance copy for a review. I love this book. It is real in so many ways. When i started to read this book i could not put it down. I am just jumping up and down to read the next three books. I highly recommed this book.😀👍
I was very disappointed in this book. Most of the story felt monotone. As if it was a technical report rather than a Sci-Fi novel. The final 5 or 6 chapters were better than the rest, but even they could have been better.
Interesting premise, and story line, but with too much unnecessary graphic sex, that does not advance the narrative. Character development is almost non-existent. I will not waste my money on the sequel.
I enjoyed reading this story, the storyline is filled with action and intrigue. The interaction between the characters is entertaining and I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
