Learning to program with Perl 6: First Steps: Getting into programming without leaving the command line.

Rate this book
Perl 6 is a moden language that has been designed with the current computers, operating systems and Internet in mind. It is very expressive, allows to transcribe mathematical thought to program very easily, and also has a thriving and helpful online community. It is good for this community to grow, and the best thing is to try and learn this language as your first, or maybe 0.5th, language. The basic prerrequisite for this book is to want to learn to program, and the second is to be curious and not afraid of testing new things. It is probably also OK if you already know a bit of programming, but you do not need to know Perl specifically. If you do, this book will try to teach you idiomatic Perl6 and also help you through some good practices when learning, or teaching, a new language. This is also a free as in free speech book, with a creative commons license. Check out its GitHub repo for updates, examples and some other goodies (including a play).
