By day Annabelle Lee is a perfect small town librarian, with loose-fitting dresses and hair scrunched up in a tight bun. But at night, lying in her lonely bed, her sensuality emerges in scorching, erotic dreams about Mike Sloan. Annabelle's not the only one with a few fantasies. Mike has been dreaming of stripping her out of her prim clothing and getting her into his bed, and when the opportunity arises, he grabs at the chance. Soon they're heating up the sheets, and each other, with steamy sexual interludes. While Annabelle is luxuriating in their no-strings secret affair, Mike is longing for something more permanent-like exploring the exhilarating heights of passion as man and wife.

3.5 Stars. Mike and Annabelle have lots of sexy times in this book... In fact, it's probably not realistic how often they go at each other. If you're wanting an abundance of some alpha male loving, this is for you. Mike knows exactly what he wants and is not afraid to go for it. Annabelle wants Mike but doesn't know how to handle their new relationship. She doesn't understand her own beauty and how much Mike truly wants her. It's a pretty typical plot device of insecure h assuming she knows what the H is feeling/thinking and keeping it casual for their sake. Nothing really surprising. The writing was good but not great and seemed to start off stronger than how it ended. The best writing was in the sex scenes and the areas of opportunity were mostly in the building of the relationship beyond the bedroom door. All in all a good read especially as I was channeling my inner dirty girl. Safety gang: no rape/abuse, no ow/om, neither are virgins, they use condoms.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

Spoilers ahead, 2.5* not quite 3 but also not 2 lol

h is a 30 year old librarian who recently moved to town after the death of her parents
H is a hometown boy with his own construction business and is attracted to her from the beginning
She's sweet but has self esteem and body insecurities but also has been having explicit dreams about the H
He finally makes a move and it's on like donkey Kong
Pages and pages of fairly ok but way too long sex
The H is all in but the h keeps thinking he won't want something permanent with little ole her
He gets impatient and hurt with her determination to hide their relationship
She finally confesses her love in front of the entire town.....only he'd already left (I cringed at this lol)
They eventually get their shit together and boom HEA
Quick, no angst read

No cheating or OM/OW drama
H stated he liked women and dated regularly
h only had one boyfriend before him

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.
Annabelle Lee has just moved to a new town just a few years ago and has taken the job as the town's librarian. Annabelle has been attracted to Mike Sloan since day one. But Annabelle feels that he is out of her league not to mention she has had but one serious relationship.
Mike has been having the same feelings and one day decides to move forward with trying to start a full time permanent relationship with Annabelle. When Mike goes forward with asking Annabelle out and pursue this attraction they have, Annabelle thinks it will be a short affair.
This was a really great book! It had some humor, hot love scene, a really sweet and strong male.

I enjoyed the story of Annabelle and Mike because it was a role reversal of the usual romance stories or worse, the romantic comedy movies where the gal wants a relationship and the guy has commitment issues. In this story, when Annabelle and Mike finally get together after having erotic dreams about each other for months, Mike is the one who wants a long term loving relationship and Annabelle is the one who doesn't want to commit to it.

That part of Annabelle is believable as is the fact that she had only one prior relationship. The only part about her that seems far fetched to me is her fear of letting anyone in the small town know that she and Mike are a couple. If she really does want him, wouldn't she want EVERYONE to know? As for Mike, I thought it a little different that he wanted a committed relationship from only erotic fantasies. But...they actually helped this story because the reader will be cheering them on hoping that they can be that loving couple.

The sex scenes are not too graphic but certainly hot. It really feels more like "making love" than "sex" or that other word. Another aspect of the book that makes this very romantic. An enjoyable read.

This book opens with a sex scene and of course I'm never going to be mad at that.

Mike Sloan is the man of Anabelle's fantasies, but she's a shy librarian who's only been living I town for six months and in that short time it turns out she caught Mike's attention too. Mike Sloan had been dreaming about the cute librarian and wanting to know the woman under the frumpy clothes, perfectly pinned hair.

This is the story of a woman discovering her sexuality and making her fantasies real. Mike Sloan is the man that makes Annabelle realise her worth as a woman and cherishes every second of her company. Their relationship moves quickly and evolves into something more. I felt like we were just scratching the surface with this couples story, for me there could be more character and story development, I'd love to know more about both of these characters and get into their lives a little more. So in my opinion this book is a short and sexy romance that has a lot of potential but doesn't quite hit the mark for me.

Uncovering Annabelle by NJ Walters is an erotic romance with the two most fantasized or eroticized careers you can think of – the librarian and the handyman. It’s a quick read, about 12 chapters and the first chapter already starts out with the first erotic scene, so you already know that it’s going to be a steamy read.
There’s a little bit of a tease at the first meeting, but Mike the Handyman quickly moves it along. He moved it along so quickly and abruptly that I had to remind myself that these are two people who already know each other, they live in the same small town, and see each other regularly.
The erotic scenes were steamy and Mike was yummy. It’s a guilty pleasure to want the alpha male convince the insecure heroine of being more than she realizes, but so much fun to read.
NJ Walters packed a lot of sexiness in just 12 chapters. It was a fun and quick read and highly recommended for a late night story.

It is times like this when I wish that you could give books 1/2 star ratings on Goodreads. This wasn't a bad read, and a 3 star review isn't bad either, but it wasn't quite a 4 star either. Oh well, I think you catch my drift. ;)
This was a quick, fun read. Mousy librarian is pulled out of her shell by the hot construction worker. I mean, what's not to like? Sometimes the descriptions and the dialogue got a little choppy, but all in all it was an entertaining read and it was nice to see the man want the serious relationship while the woman fought against it. She had her reasons, and they had a good time working it all out.

This is a cute story about a librarian and the handyman. She's shy, reserved and dresses in plain clothes to hide her body. He's the resident playboy. When they start their affair, she wants to keep it quiet, so when he leaves her, she can face the townspeople. He's looking for someone to love forever and marry.

This is a pretty straight forward romance with a couple of bumps in the road. I liked the story and would recommend it to anyone likes straight forward romances with lots of hot sex!

I'm aghast to admit that with all the print books I own of this author, this is my first N.J. Walters read.

That said, I was enraptured by the characters and enchanted by the small town setting and the familiarity between the residents and the business owners.

Annabelle and Mike were wonderful and even though their relationship was tumultuous and fraught with anxiety and unspoken fears, the love they projected was never in doubt.

I'm sure I'll be reading much more from this fantastic author and look forward to more from the Summerville Secrets.

I got this book from net gallery for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book which was hot, sexy and very erotic. Mike is such a sweet guy, considerate, caring, attentive emotionally and a great lover. However, Annabelle has lots of insecurities and gradually he helps her eliminate those insecurities. I have to admit I got annoyed at Annabelle's behaviour - wanted to shake some sense into her. This book was funny and entertaining especially, in the beginning.

Annabelle Lee by N.J. Walters

I liked this story. It started off with Annabelle the librarian, having an erotic dream about the sexy and hot Mike and ended with the dream as a reality.

What is it about librarian’s that fire the imagination into all kinds of naughty fantasies? Hmm…

This was an interesting read...normally I love shy and sweet heroines but Annabelle was almost too repressed! I can understand small town semantics and judgy people but why purposely make yourself as unapproachable as she did?? Mike was almost too perfect to be true. I'm still not sure or quite believe that he found her so irresistible that he knew he wanted her forever right away.
And...dare I say this but....it was almost too much sex !?! I kinda wanted to see them more as a couple out and about town.

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

This is a fun, extremely hot read. A buttoned up librarian and a handyman...what's not to love. While it is a tad insta-lovey, I liked watching the two of them get together. I wish we could have seen a bit of their relationship before they got intimate though. Also, she was kinda down on herself...a lot...which I get, but it did get a little annoying.

Overall, good quick read (but not if you blush easily).

What a waste of time. While the male character was somewhat believable, the female character was NOT. There was NO character development - these two characters "fall madly in love" after 2 weeks of having sex, and without any kind of acquaintance before their first introduction. Lame.

The blurb about the shy and proper librarian & the hot tempting handyman reeled me in but it was the characters themselves that kept me glued to my kindle. Uncovering Annabelle was a really light and easy read. I loved that is was equal parts sweet and sexy. There wasn't any OTT drama or angst, it was straight forward romance.

From the beginning I was mad crushing on Mike. Aside from his bone melting good looks and sleek muscles he was just so damn sweet! From the get-go he was considerate and tender towards his h. He never wavered from his feelings towards her and I loved that. It was refreshing to see the H chase the h for something more than just an affair. (I liked that he was the one pushing for a committed relationship with the h, instead of the other way around.)

Mike was definitely one of a kind. One minute he was this super seductive lover and than just as easily, he'd be this endearing protector the next. I loved how much he wanted Annabelle physically but was also just as determined to take care of her emotionally.

When Annabelle finally decides to explore her sensuality, Mike agrees to an affair, but he is hoping to change her mind about the temporary bit.

He wanted her to know her power as a woman and then choose him.

Annabelle was a cute heroine. I loved that she was down to earth. I related to her struggles and fears, especially her phobia of drawing attention to herself. Although she was a bit naive at times, I could totally understand where she was coming from. For the most part, Annabelle is happy with her life. She lives in a small town, she has friends and a job she loves but she has never really experienced passion. For the most part the men she has dated always end up seeing her as a friend and never stick around long enough for her to put her guard down and be herself. Even though she was shy and insecure, I liked that she wasn't into radically changing herself. She was happy with who she was, she just wanted to find someone that would appreciate her, as is.

She was a homebody and saw no reason to change herself because some guy thought she wasn't exciting or flashy enough. Her hobbies ran to cooking and reading, not barhopping and dancing.

The only gripe I have (and its a minor one) is the pace. This "affair" starts as a no-strings casual relationship to a full blown marriage/commitment in less than two weeks. Normally this doesn't bug me, but with Annabelle's hang ups I wanted a teensy bit more convincing she was over her insecurities. I would have loved to see her do a big romantic gesture to get Mike back after the fair scene! I still loved it though, it was short, sweet and satisfying!

Title: Uncovering Annabelle

Series: Summersville Secrets Book #1
Author: N. J Walters

Genre: Romance

Blurb: The first book in the sexy Summersville Secrets series by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author N. J. Walters!

Days fueled by desire . . .

Annabelle Lee is content to spend her days as a quiet and staid librarian, revealing her true desires only at night, when she indulges in the rich erotic life that lives only in her fantasies. It is there she dreams of Mike Sloan, the rugged handyman who stirs her passions and ignites her erotic nature.

Nights filled with pleasure . . .

Mike has always yearned to get a peek behind Annabelle’s demure nature, knowing there is far more there than she shows. When he finally gets her alone, they unleash a passion beyond any late-night fantasy. Limited only by their imaginations, they set out to explore even their deepest desires, with Mike hoping to win Annabelle’s heart in the process.

This is a fully revised edition of a book originally published as Annabelle Lee.

Thoughts: I read this series out of order, and actually wound up reading the first book in the series last – so I can easily say that the books are standalone and in no way affected my enjoyment of the series. Every book in this series has been sexy and sensual with just the right amount of romance thrown in. This one in particular featured Annabelle and Mike, both of which have been somewhat dancing around their chemistry with one another. Annabelle has been somewhat using her son as a shield between herself and any attraction she feels for anyone. Her son is older now, and Mike is finally able to get her alone long enough to explore the chemistry he always knew was there.

Another amazing read by Walters!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Uncovering Annabelle by N.J. Walters is Book 1 of the Summersville Secrets Series and a super yummy start it is. There is some serious sizzlin’ hawtness going on between the shy town librarian, Annabelle, and the handyman, Mike. This is a quick and sexy read that goes from 0 to insta-lust and then insta-love within a few quick weeks. I enjoyed the author’s writing style, however I was put off with how quickly everything escalated between the couple considering Annabelle’s background. Seeing as there was sex, sex, sex, and very little build-up of a relationship between the two just makes it so unrealistic in the relationship department. With how short the book is (125'ish pages) I can definitely see how that happens but I would recommend the author cut down and/or cut out some of the sex scenes and add more to the couples relationship; doing that would make it 5 star worthy for me. Overall, this is a good read.

Uncovering Annabelle is a deliciously hot and sexy start to the Summersville Secrets series.

After losing her father and then her mother six months ago, Annabelle Lee need a fresh start so she accepted a job as a Librarian in Summersville.

Mike Sloan has worked hard to not only own his own business but also be successful. His construction business is thriving and now it another desire he needs to fill.

Annabelle has been fantasizing about Mike for months so when he shows up to fix the libraries air conditioning she is more than a little flustered. Picking up on her reaction Mike will let her know she isn’t the only one with desires. But full of insecurities Annabelle has some conditions but when they almost cost her everything she will need to choose what she really wants.

The minute Mike Sloan set eyes on uptight librarian Annabelle Lee, he knew she was different. Although her exterior is prim and proper, he could see right through her knowing she would be soft and curvaceous. Biding his time he finally plans to stake his claim, the problem is Annabelle has misguided ideas on what their relationship will be and ends up hurting Mike in the process of what she believes is a no-strings affair.

This was just okay, Annabelle seemed almost to naive to me but when it came to exploring her sensual side she was not lacking any inhibitions, in fact she was quite dominating, so it didn't blend the two sides of Annabelle for me.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

I give this story 3 1/2 stars

This was a quick, short, sweet, sexy, steamy read. Annabelle has moved into a new town, and she's been having fantasies about rugged handyman Mike, little did she know he was having fantasies about her. Mike was strong but sweet, and totally into Annabelle but she doesn't realize it because of her own insecurities. Like I said this a quick read my only complaint would be is, I wish it was a longer story because I liked both of the characters but didn't feel like a got a chance to get to know them.

This was meh. I've read Walters before and really liked her, particularly having fond memories of her werewolf series, as well as a sci-fi romance. She writes erotica well. However, this one, an early work for her, just didn't click with me. It's a contemporary romance about a small-town librarian with self-confidence issues who hooks up with the resident contractor and has hot monkey sex that turns into an HEA. The only conflict in the story was the girl's lack of confidence in herself and her ability to be attractive to a man. In short, I was bored.

It's always great to go back to my first love so to speak.. Good old romance... This book was sweet and warmed my heart. I LOVE it when an author writes about a girl "with curves".. It gives me hope that this world is not stuck on the "thin girl".. Although I have yet to find a book with a chubby guy.... But I digress.... This book was very well written. It had romance. It had sex (lots of it)... It had an embarrassing scene... And most importantly it had a happy ending that reminds me that (naughty) dreams do come true...

Tucker knew from the first moment he saw Annabelle that she's the one for him. Annabelle has had a crush on Tucker since she moved into town but is sure that he would never notice a plain Jane such as her.
When Tucker tells Annabelle that he will be fixing the library's air conditioner, she is horrified to know that her inner fantasies are coming to light.
You'll definitely shed a few tears in this sweet story about a woman trying to work thru her insecurities. Hoping she won't lose the man she loves, in the process. 5 stars

Brenna gave almost the same review I was going to give. The only difference is that this book was only about sex between the H/H and how they were/weren't (in their minds) made for each other. There wasn't really anything else to make the book interesting. It was a quick read and I kept reading for the sheer fact of thinking that something would happen soon. Not one of Ms Walters' better books. At least, in my opinion; and isn't that what a review is?

This was a quick and very very sexy read. Annabelle, the naughty librarian, meets Mike, the sexy construction worker/owner and some very hot sparks ignite. Can Mike conveying Annabelle he wants more than just her body? Can Annabelle overcome her insecurities before she loses Mike forever?

Cute read; however, had to skip some parts do to a lot of inner monologue in the beginning, but otherwise very enjoyable.
