This was surprisingly accessible from start to finish, beginning with a digestible exploration of the theoretical basis, assessment and treatment of patients informed by a psychoanalytic understanding of the human condition. Gabbard then does an excellent job surveying various psychoanalytic theories and their applicability to DSM diagnoses, offering what I believe in many cases are both meaningful considerations and reasonable alternatives. Overall the text is certainly a worthwhile read for those interested in analytic work!
Right, this is one of our mandatory textbooks during psychiatry residency, and I’m probably the only human ever who goes to Goodreads to review textbooks. But hey, I love well-written textbooks! Gabbard is a household name here in the residency program. His books are always so easy to read and understand. He wrote many, but this one is my all-time favorite, so much so that I decided to buy my own copy.
Sangat, sangat banyak membantu.
