The only thing I wanted was my memory back. Until I met her. Now I've got two riddles to solve. The key in my pocket. And the secret she’s keeping . Nathan Samuels walked into my diner with only what was in his pockets, a few dollars, a picture, his wallet, a mysterious key and no memory of how he got here. Little did I know that he was about to unlock the key to my heart, and my secret. I promised I’d help him. I took him in. I gave him a place to stay and now I’m trying hard not to be his latest mission. I know Navy SEALs are good at getting in and out of tight spaces, and I’m fighting the desire to give him the one thing I’ve never given any man, me. This is a full-length standalone Navy SEAL novel with a HEA and No Cliffhanger.
This is the first novel I've read by Ellie Danes, and the blurb intrigued me--a Navy SEAL, Nathan, is found injured on the roadside, is brought to the hospital and treated for his injuries, thought to be caused by a hit and run driver. While I expected this novel to be about his search for his memory, it's about a lot more than that, and I give it 3 stars.
Nathan has little to no memory of what happened to him, why it happened or even what he was doing in Kansas--just a few fuzzy details about being stationed at a SEAL base in New Mexico, being handed his leave papers, and that's it. He leaves the hospital and starts walking. Tired and hungry, he ends up in a diner in Wichita, Kansas. He's got nothing in his pockets other than a folded photograph of a little girl, a small key, and a receipt for a bus ticket; he has no wallet, no ID, just a few dollars and some change. It's there he meets his waitress, Bree, a twenty-something, naive virgin, who has one sister she seldom sees, and not much of a life, outside of her job. She feels sorry for the man, but is also attracted to him. She offers him a night's sleep on the sofa in her tiny apartment, and so begins their relationship and this novel.
Told in alternating narration by the two principle characters, this a quite a long saga, as Bree volunteers to accompany Nathan in his quest to find the little girl in the picture, since he has the overwhelming belief that he needs to find and rescue her. They head out on the slimmest of clues (the photo and key), and are soon involved in a whole lot more than they bargained for. While I loved the concept of this novel, the execution needed an editor to whittle down its ninety-two chapters into something a bit less repetitious.
Bree and Nathan initially agree to work together at the outset to solve the mystery, but Nathan isn't terribly forthcoming with details, and Bree repeatedly leaves him by sneaking away, gets into trouble, manages to return to him, they argue, they have sex, time and time again. At no point are condoms even mentioned, even though they barely know each other and Bree started out as a virgin. Additionally, Bree mentions early on that she really has made a mess of her life, but we never learn how or why. Some backstory would have been helpful, and made her more sympathetic.
While the plot is an intriguing one and full of action, danger, and sex scenes, it could have been told in half the time because Bree's constant waffling about being with Nathan or leaving him, and Nathan's inability to be open and honest with her became increasingly irritating and slowed the forward momentum of this story down to a crawl. Bree's repeated melt-downs also became annoying, and by the time this reader reached the HEA ending, it was rather abrupt, and totally unsatisfying, leaving a lot of backstory questions unanswered.
In conclusion, while I felt this novel had a lot of promise, and while it was an okay read, it could have been a much better read had it not been quite so long or so repetitive, and if the author had supplied her heroine with a backstory.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this novel and received no compensation for doing so. The opinions expressed are my own.

This was an okay read for me. It's a long story and I felt like it dragged on quite a bit, more than it might've needed to. That's not to say that it wasn't a good story and that I didn't enjoy most of it. Nathan is a Navy SEAL that has lost his memory while on leave in the states. He wakes up in the hospital with no memory of the last couple days and a postcard and photo of a little girl, along with a key. He's trying to put it all together while heading back to base, knowing he's already late and not knowing if it's the right choice. He knows that something is wrong and that there's something weird going on with the little girl but he can't remember anything. He goes into Bree's diner and she helps him out. She can tell that something's going on but not sure what, just that Nathan's a good guy. She ends up giving him a place to crash and then offering to drive him back. On the way back, their conversation turns to the photo and figuring out what actually happened and is going on. This story is big on the intrigue and twists and turns. There's a lot of action in between the driving and staying at hotels. They have to put all the pieces together and figure out how Nathan and the little girl fit into everything. The story is pretty well written. The sex is explicit and for the most part the pacing is good. There are times where it felt a little slow and that things dragged on. There were also times where I felt that we were coming close to the end and then something happened and set them way back. We do get to see a lot of relationship building, even as it goes back and forth, because of the length of the story. There was plenty going on in this story and it does get delved into because of the length. I did enjoy the story though it was a little dragged out for me. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Nathan is in a horrible situation. The last thing he remembers is going on leave from his base in Colorado. He wakes up sore and in pain in a Tennesee clinic with a big hole in his memory. He has now wallet and only a few dollars, a key and a photo of a sad young girl in his pocket. He is planning on hitchhiking back to his base but stops in a diner. Bree is his waitress and she is drawn to the mystery man. She gives him a free dinner and takes him back to her apartment for the night to sleep on her sofa. Bree and Nathan decide to investigate what happened during his blackout time so Bree takes a leave from work and drives Nathan back to the clinic. It is hard work but they keep following little clues that they find. The problem is the clues hint at bad things that Nathan might have done. They find a gun and lots of money and drugs in the bank box the key fit in. This story is a very long story with lots of twists and turns. Bree is really loyal to Nathan even when it appears she shouldn't be. I was a little unhappy with the ethical decisions in some of the story especially at the end. This is a good mystery love story. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.
Navy SEAL Nathan Samuels has a huge gap in his memory between being handed his leave papers at the New Mexico SEAL base and waking up in a small clinic in Topeka days later. Nathan has been hitchhiking toward New Mexico ever since, hoping it would all come back to him. Nathan's luck changes for the better when he stops at a diner and a stunning waitress feeds him and offers him a place to stay. Waitress Bree can't afford to get involved with anyone but when the obviously down-on-his-luck Nathan shows up in the diner, Bree knows he probably needs her help so she feeds him and takes him back to her apartment to crash. The next morning, Bree chats with the sexy Nathan over breakfast and she learns all about his memory loss and his plan to return to the New Mexico base with the hope it would stir up his memory. Bree wants an adventure, and Nathan has somewhere he needs to be so it makes sense for her to give him a ride. And so begins a wild road trip but how does it end?
Ellie Danes delivers an intriguing, exciting, suspenseful and steamy story that you won't be able to put down
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book
Fast paced love story with twists and turns I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book for my honest review. This was my first book by Ellie Danes. I liked the dynamics of her characters. Ellie writes with POVs for both Bree and Nathan so that you get to know what each is thinking for each situation they are going through. Throughout the entire book they are trying to keep themselves alive and safe from a drug cartel. Even though they are running for their lives the are still passionate to each other. There are plenty of steamy passionate scenes between Bree and Nathan. Nathan is a Navy Seal who gets himself in trouble by gambling in a high stakes game and losing. This brings him in contact with a drug cartel and a little girl that has been kidnapped to act as a drug runner. Nathan is beaten and almost killed but survives his lasting affect from this is amnesia. This is how Bree comes into his life. He is in her diner and she learns about what happened to him and decides to help him. She is a smart, sassy woman and definitely a match for Nathan! She holds her own with him. This story has twists and turns, fast paced, action packed. I recommend this book.
Ok, so I give this a 4 star because I liked the premise. But I almost say a 3 or 3.5 because it was just too long! Yes, there is a lot going on. The characters have to meet and bond, they go on a road trip to try to stir up Nathan's lost memories, there is intrigue, danger, and, of course, sex. But there could have been a lot condensed. It became a little frustrating reading again about Bree -should she stay with him or should she leave. She's the one who wanted the "adventure" and was willing to drop her current life a the drop of a hat for a complete stranger - questionable actions, right there. And just as frustrating with Nathan - what is with all the withholding information. I got to the point where I wanted to skip ahead. I didn't- trudged through, but it was deflating. I wanted to like it more but it was just too long-winded for me.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review
Ellie Danes has written an epic road adventure novel! This book is full of mystery, suspense, action, heartwarming rescues, smoking hot love scenes, and bad guys on both sides of the border! Nathan is a walking, talking, real-life superhero and Bree is the spunky waitress who hitches her wagon to his regardless of the risks involved. This is probably the longest single book (not series or bundle) that I've read in recent years, but it's captivating right from the very first page and once you hit the road with these two you're not going to want to miss a thing! I read it in one very long ignore-the-family day, and it was worth every second. My only complaint, and it is slight, is that we don't get as satisfying a HEA as I was hoping for. They do get a HEA of course, but I just wanted a little bit more for them. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves romance on the run! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is my first book by this author and I will definitely being reading more by her. This story is a bit long at times but it will definitely keep your attention. Don't skip parts because you're tired of hearing Bree decide whether she should stay with Nathan. Or Nathan keeping secrets again. This story has the Ss - Steamy, Sexy, Suspenseful and filled with Secrets. Nathan is a SEAL who ends up walking into the diner that Bree works in with little memory of how he got there, why he was beaten up and what the key and picture in his pocket mean. Bree wants to help. She looks for a ride for Nathan to Topeka and agrees to go along. This story is steamy, action oriented, mystery, lots of secrets, and just when you think you understand it changes. The main characters as well as the secondary characters are well developed and the storyline gives detail so that you completely understand what is happening. I received this book for an honest voluntary review.
Seal'd Tight is a standalone book that is fast paced romance with a lot of twists and turns that will keep you hooked. I have always enjoyed Ellie books and love the dynamics of her characters and story plots.
Nathan wants one thing and one thing only and that is to remember. What is it he can't remember? What did he do? Who is after him? Who is the little girl he finds in the picture and what does he have to do with her? When he steps into a diner one young woman takes pity on him and tries to help out. What she doesn't know could get her killed. Can she trust a complete stranger? Will her life ever be the same again? Will she make it out alive? Will they finally unravel the mystery of the girl and will Nathan recover his memory?
To answer those questions you will have to grab a copy of this book and dig in. This book is action packed and you will not want to put it down until all your questions have been answered.
Edge of your seat anticipation until the very end of this book.
Bree entire world flipped upside down when a stranger walks into the diner she was working. But she can't let him leave because he's been hurt and can't remember what happened.
Nathan is a Navy Seal. That much he remembers. But how he ended up in a small town in Kansas has him fighting to remember. He knows he is supposed to be doing something, with the photo of a little girl, a postcard, and a key he has to figure put the clues.
Bree runs off with Nathan and starts to help him piece e clues together, when things start to spiral out of control with men in suits who street to pursue them.
Now they are on the run for their lives and others are at stake as well.
Oh man, what a great action packed, HOT, and exciting read this book was! It took me a bit to finish, but not because the book, life just didn't let me sit still. Once I would start reading I couldn't stop. This has been one long story I've read from Ellie, and man did she rock it!!!
Its jam packed with so much! I'm used to my love stories with some drama, but this, this has left me without words!
I'm going to miss these characters! I feel like I've been with them for so long. they have grown on me!!
This is by far one my favorite books from Ellie. she never seems to amaze me. her writing just takes me away, and when I'm in my corner reading, I truly escape my reality and get lost in her worlds. I recommend ALL her books, but this one here is a MUST!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book...
First I would like to say that I rated this as 3 stars because I liked the plot. This is despite the way Nathan, a Navy SEAL, is portrayed. Yes, some of Ellie's facts were wrong. I didn't like the fact that Nathan did dishonorable things in this story. It's not your typical military romance. The storyline flowed even though parts of the book were slow and could have been left out. The plot was different and it was well-written. Bree was too scattered brain and wishy-washy though I could relate to her if I overlooked that part. I loved Nathan for doing the right thing for the children despite his amnesia. There's lots of action with being chased by a drug cartel.
I received a free advanced reader copy of this book and voluntarily decided to review it
I really enjoyed this romantic suspense, I enjoyed the drama, the danger and excitement. Nathan has nextvyo no memories but feels he needs to rescue the little girl in the picture he has. Here is a nervous virgin who decides to help him on his quest.
I loved the chemistry between Nathan and Bree, but it could have done with more back story to help us understand and connect with Bree. Also I think it was a bit too long, parts of it were repetitive and could have been condensed down
On the whole I did enjoy the book, and I do like Ellie Danes writing
This was a great read by Ellie Danes. If you like Navy Seal stories you''ll like this story, but be forewarned it's a long book. Probably could have been condensed a little, but you're sure getting lots of pages for your money. Nathan has lost his memory and has nothing to go on but a picture of a young girl, a key and his wallet. When he stumbles into a late night diner, waitress Bree takes pity on him and offers him her sofa for the night. Well one night turns into two and you know how the story goes. She's drawn into his search and their world becomes one of suspense, mystery, drama and did I say SEX – lots of sex. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
I think the only thing that could make this full length novel any better would have been to shorten it and condense it as it tended to get very slow in the middle and became slightly repetitive. Other than that the story line was amazing, so not a Seal meets girl falls in love gets married type book. This one has a back story to find out what happened to Nathan and what his amnesia is blocking out. Lots of fast paced action and getaways as they try to keep ahead of the Cartel. It is funny, sassy, action packed and romantic all wrapped up in one nice book. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Sorry, I can't recommend reading this. The female character is a wishy, washy, idiot. As many times she did something totally stupid, it made me hope the bad guys would just put her out of my misery! First she invites a total stranger to spend the night, then she takes off with him as he goes in search of his missing time. He has short term amnesia. Then she proceeds to insist on staying with him, during danger, then running from him, to get herself in more danger because of her stupidity... over and over. The male character has his moments, too many of them, of his own idiocy.
Received this book voluntarily as an ARC for an honest review.
Ellie Danes made my mind blow with this book. It is amazing, and the storyline is different and unique. I loved it. The story is about Nathan who is a SEAL with amnesia. And he has only a few things to help him find out who he is and where he comes from. He meets Bree, who wants to help him. The book has got romance, trust, twists, passion, chemistry, a bit of drama and action. It has got it all. I loved the length of the book and the way Ellie Danes has written it. It caught me right away. The story is so well written that you just have to read on and has to know what comes next. What happens. I can recommend reading it.
Nathan Samuels walked into a diner with no memory of the previous week of his life. Bree is stuck in a rutt and takes on look at the military man and decides to take a chance. One picture sends them on a chase. Will they make it out a live? Will Bree be able to trust Nathan with each secret he keeps?
This book was long so if you are looking for a quick read, this isn't it. I liked the book, but there were places of repetition that I wanted to strangle both characters, lol. Overall it is a good read. Bree's back and forth made me want to shake her a couple of times. Loved how despite not remembering Nathan tried to protect Bree and was determined to do the right thing.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book did not lead anywhere I expected it to, and I love that! I have read quite a few SEAL books and was pleasantly surprised that this one seemed do go its own way and did its own thing. I expected the ending to happen a certain way, and was again surprised when it didn't.
There were a few minor issues I had with the book, tube biggest one is the fact that we keep hearing about this huge mistake Bree made in the past, and the non-existent relationship she has with her sister because of it, but we never find out what this big thing is. It's not something that's mentioned in passing once, it's mentioned multiple times throughout the book.
Another book written by Ellie that will have you saying "WOW", she did it again. The books that I have read of hers have been fabulous through and though. This one is about Nathan who meets Bree in a restaurant that she's a waitress at. Nathan has no recollection regarding who he is or where he may be from. What he does have is a picture of an adorable little girl but has no idea who she is. They embark on a trip to find out who Nathan really is, where he comes from, who this little girl is and they fall in love. It's a great story, one you will not want to put down. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.
Imagine losing your memory and then finding out that the Mexican Cartel is after you! That is what has happened with Nathan, and then he finds his saving grace in Bree. This book has lots and lots of action with the cartel and rescuing a bunch of children. I mean like a lot of action! But don't worry all you romance lovers, there are a lot of steamy scenes between Nathan and Bree as well. The only problem I had with this story was at times it was a bit slow, it was needed so you could get all of the information so I won't knock the author for that. I give Seal'd Tight 4 out of 5 stars and will be checking out this author's other work.
Don't get me wrong...I'm a huge Ellie Danes fan, BUT 92 chapters to tell a story that could have easily been told in 40? Seriously, this book was just way too long--I found myself skipping ahead to see if I'd miss anything by jumping ahead 2 or 3 chapters. The book just was too long.
The storyline is very good; the characters play well off each other; the plot twists and turns kept the reader interested enough to keep turning the pages. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book and loved the story but hated the length!)
I have read Ellie Danes before, and I like her books. But I did think this one ran a little long. Nathan is trying to remember what happened to him. He and Bree hit it off well, and she wanted to go on this journey with him. Yet, she spent a little too much time waffling back and forth on her misgivings about staying with Nathan. But there was really good development and back story, and their chemistry was undeniably hot. The intrigue and danger elements were great, but I do think it could have been cut down some. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Navy Seal Nathan Walker looses his memory and ends up in a diner, where he meets Bree, a waitress. Bree realizes that he's in bind ~ no memory, no money and no car, so she offers to help him get a ride back to his base which is in another state. However, Bree senses that he's a good guy and ends up taking him there herself. What should have been a simple ride back to his Navy base, ends up being the ride of a lifetime! It was full of romance, a drug cartel, missing children, and lots of life threatening adventures!
This is a different type of SEAL romance novel, I really enjoyed it!
Nathan has amnesia and meets Bree in Kansas. He has no where to go only a few clues to get him to the next destination, Bree has nothing holding her in Topeka, so she agrees to go on a wild ride filled with drama, suspense, love, lust, drug cartels, FBI, deception, gambling and of course hot sex scenes.
But will all of that keep Bree and Nathan together or will they be separated by one of the bad men trying to get to them?
I received an ARC of this book! You won't be disappointed.
was a voluntary ARC reader for this book. The storyline is great, loved the action and adventure, plus the steamy scenes. The book was too long a read for me though, it took a lot to keep going in some parts. There seems to be too much repetition of the same things happening just in different settings. The storyline kept me going because I had to know what happened with Nathan and Bree on there mission to find the truth. A good read overall.
I am a very fast reader but this book took me forever, I had to convince myself to finish it just out of curiosity. The main characters are not the brightest crayons in the box and the female has more mood swings than a rainbow has colors; the male is an airhead, he's a Navy Seal for Pete's sake and yet has no common sense. Gave it 2 stars because the author obviously put effort into it and aside from all the nonsense the overall storyline was not a bad.
This book fell along the 3.75 mark for me mainly because it was a bit long. The story is hot and steamy and a nice twist on a seal story. The characters are great and their journey is great! It could have been cut down a bit but still a recommended read. I received this book for a voluntary, completely honest and non incentivized review.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I really enjoyed this book. If you love a hot Navy SEAL, then you'll love this book! It has plenty of action, suspense, and steaminess. Nathan and Bree have great chemistry which always makes a book amazing! I was hooked from the beginning and think you would be too!!
