[Division 11's Princess Agent]

Rate this book
She was the trusted adviser of the military intelligence unit 11 in the National Security Bureau in charge of collecting intelligence, planning and deployment, arranging assassination missions, and devising strategies in unfriendly countries to obtain victory thousands of miles away. She could be said to be the pinnacle of military intelligence building.

***

Chu Qiao was once agent 005 for the the military unit 11. After being framed and thrown into prison, she successfully escaped but then sacrificed her life to protect the special agent unit from being bombed. When she woke up again, Chu Qiao had traveled to the Xia Dynasty as an 8-year-old slave girl. Due to receiving help from Yan Xun during their escape, their fate was bound together, as Chu Qiao would then spend years helping him rebel and reconquer his land.
However, as they walked further and further down the path to their dream, they grew further apart. One reason was because of the way they dealt with things, the other was because of a rather meddlesome Zhuge Yue, who never stopped loving Chu Qiao, despite having their loyalties lie on opposite ends.
The old regime will crumble and wither away, letting the new Xia Dynasty be reborn from the ashes.

Excellent book! I started reading it after I watched the series. It is a bit different, but really enjoyed the book. Cannot compare book and the series. But series is not completed (hope that will be second season)..

In the middle of watching The Untamed drama, I stumbled upon one comment where someone also recommended this must-watch Chinese drama : Princess Agent.
Out of curiosity, I checked it on YouTube, and found this MV : https://youtu.be/ll6x8zf2CnQ 👍 It intrigued me further. The girl is so cool!

After that, I found out from the comment section that it's adapted from this novel. The live action Season 1 itself has horrible cliffhanger, therefore I will try reading its web novel first, also because we get HEA there.
For visual, maybe I'll check its live action later, maybe...The male leads aren't my type. 😛

after that first encounter,
it was destined to be you.

— that was from the princess agents tv show adaptation theme song but the line ate so hard so i feel i had to add it because it captures the essence of chuqiao & zhuge yue/ yuwen yue’s relationship so well <333

it took them over 11 years, 3 civil wars & countless other wars on opposite sides ( took me 292 chapters…) but they made it & got HEA!!! i first watched the show 7 years ago & the fact it still has me in chokehold to this day speaks volumes to how well written everything about it is… from the turbulent political landscape set during the fictional “wei” dynasty & its bloody and brutal court politics to the deep explorations of motifs such as revenge, justice, idealism, power, corruption, duty & sacrifice… everything about it is just 1000000000/10 i can’t even begin to explain all the details like there’s sm going on.

plot aside the sprinkle of romance in the subplot is my favourite thing about this novel. i was rewatching got & realised that ZGY & CQ are so brienne and jaime lannister coded if brienne fought for her a better world & jaime spent the entire plot grappling with his sense of familial duty to then CHOOSING her like… such a refreshing dynamic that was perfectly executed in both the books and show ??? obsessed with both versions, they’re the best people i know!

zhao liying & lin gengxin played the characters to perfection i’ll love them forever & i’m so grateful that the two of them decided to film another period/fantasy drama together to “make up” for that terrible s1 cancellation of the show that ended with ZGY falling into the icy lake ( presumed dead)… plus after finishing the new show “ the legend of shenli”, it had SO MANY scenes that were identical to their reunion post lake scene & paid so much homage to princess agents & its scenes post-lake?? i’m actually healed fr from all that trauma (ZLY was a producer so she really did do it on purpose i love her & LGX advocated for a specific “fishing him out the lake” scene to really bring it full circle 😭).

anyways this doesn’t touch upon basically any of the 292 chapters of plot, character motivations or anything but i just love love love this book & series so much if anyone wants to read it in english ( i did that rip my chinese) if you search on google & with “english translation”, the Nyoi-Bo Studio one is really good but yeah highly recommend <33 also highly recommend the show, all on youtube with english subs :))

[ finished it at 9:58am fr one week before the 7 year anni of princess agents release date ]

Well.. Sungguh.. Terlalu patah hati untuk Xiao Ce..

Not bad, I like it. Aside from having to read children being treated cruelly and those gory details about their death which I find not my cup of tea, I love the setting, the character developments and the conclusion of this book. Honestly, I keep saying 'she's so cool' while reading this book that my friends got curious and started reading it as well while watching the drama adaptations.

I loved the drama but hated the cliffanger therefore I needed to put my hands on this light novel and honestly am so glad I did.I learnt to appreciate Zhuge yue even if Li Ce is really my favourite character with Yan Xun close second (it was the contrary before reading).

Read this book since the show left us on a cliffhanger. The book is different than the series though, however, if the show adapts Chu Qiao and Zhuge Yue's story then it would be great.

A tradução parou.

At chapter 37 I realised I don't want to waste my time on this novel. The adaptation was so much more complex and had so many layers in my opinion. It has a lot of differences (names, age of characters, family relations, whole plotlines) and it leaves the readers confused if they came to find out what happens after the drama ended. I loved the drama so much, it really is a shame. Maybe it gets better but i decided that for me it's just not worth it...

Watched the show ... LOATHED the ending, am currently rewatching it but utterly dissatisfied and all these comments said the novel was /had much more - and clearly it does.

Also >.> reading various online posts/translations so not rating it.
But oof.

T_T the fate of my favorite secondary character.

I do love that it has a HEA though/think it ends nicely, if the translation(s) I read are accurate.

This is one of my all time favorite web novel.. I first watched the Chinese adaptation series in Facebook then read the web novel online because I cant get enough! My goodness! hahaha

Chu Quiao and Yan Xun are so heart breaking couple.. I love them but they are not meant to be together.. To bad He chose power and revenge over love.. haist. Anyway, it's worth your time and emotions hehe.
