The Touch of Healing offers readers the means to greater health, vitality, and self-understanding through the practice of an ancient oriental healing art and practical holistic philosophy called Jin Shin Jystsu. Gentle touching similar to acupressure is used to release tension that accumulates and is at the root of dysfunction, disease, and imbalance. The authors explain the natural life force that runs through the body and demonstrate with case studies, detailed analysis, and more than 30 illustrations, how to integrate this system into one's life. The key healing points and body flows, known as "Safety Energy Locks," are presented with step-by-step instructions on how to utilize them for healing and greater self-awareness. Many self-help practices are also offered that address a wide array of common ailments, including headaches, digestive disorders, fatigue, depression, and arthritis along with prescriptive exercises for relief of emotional ailments such as loss of confidence, anxiety, and depression.
I first learned about Jin Shin Jyutsu as a patient at the Markey cancer center in Lexington Kentucky. Practitioners there bring great comfort to survivors before, during, and after treatment. In my work as a personal trainer I encounter people with many chronic physical conditions who could benefit from this ancient healing art. While this book provides a fascinating introduction, I would caution against trying to apply the principles to someone else without trained supervision. On the other hand, the self-help techniques highlighted here have given me great benefit. I think this is an excellent introduction to anyone who is curious about nontraditional healing.
I've been dealing with extreme and chronic fatigue for over 3 months. A friend of mine who recovered from chronic fatigue years ago said this method was the most helpful to her healing. So I'm giving it a try :)
This is a self help book on Jin Shin Jyutsu. Very easy to follow and understand. Since I was following and practicing the steps given it took longer to get through it. There is still much to remember so will probably be referring to it often.
This book is perfect for anyone that is willing to take the time to learn a wonderful, beneficial and practical tool for life. It is written in such a simplistic and explanatory way. I feel that with so many relatable examples, it propels the reader eagerly forward to explore what they have learned. I recently read this gem of a book and am amazed at how in its own way Jin Shin Jyutsu is very similar to Reiki. (including its journey into western culture) I will use the information this book has provided in my own spiritual and personal journey. I will use it for others as well:) Reiki Master Teacher
A reference book to be studied. Interestingly, there is no mention of chakras or meridians, at least in those terms. I think the depths refers to the chakras, or layers of the aura? Ancient energy knowledge.
I found this book very good at describing the energy flows and the positioning of the hands to enhance the flow. There is much to learn. I need to read it again.
Jin Shin is a powerful healing art, and this book presents it in accessible, easy-to-understand language and diagrams. It’s truly a gem of a resource for all that ails you.
Me ha encantado como está explicado. Es un libro con mucha información y es necesario repasarlo de vez en cuando, pero me parece muy interesante y práctico.
Great book, very helpful, excellent information! Easy to do. I love this book, and I have turned many of my clients on to this book to help them heal themselves.
This is one of the few books available on the art of Jin Shin Jyutsu, which I swear by for maintaining a healthy mind, body and spirit. If I were to rate only the content/subject of the book, I would rate it a 5. Jin Shin Jyutsu is a totally astounding method of healing. However, the organization of the book and explanations really do leave quite a bit to be desired, and if I were rating the book on that basis I would rate it a 3; so, I averaged the two to come out with my rating of 4. For those who persevere and really try to understand the material, it is a really good resource.
The more I get to know myself, the more convinced I am that I have an inner hippie. (My children would be embarrassed, but they already know, they are just trying to keep it quiet from the world.) That said, this has been a very useful book to me! I have found it valuable in dealing with stress and improved sleeping/ease of falling to sleep as well as useful for tension-related aches. I do not agree with everything here--but from a practical use viewpoint I say Yay!
strength = thematic statements are paired with important physical landmarks. This truly frames a practice with a spiritual intention.
weakness = Organ flows needed better diagrams and clean up of confusing language (ex. acronium is not the shoulder blade. The blade is the scapula spine, which one is intended because the former is on the anterior and the latter is on the posterior. )
Simple to understand & easy to follow instructions.
Good clear explanation of energy, body & level of energy within...how to access & false attitudes which are in reality FEAR. How fear manifests into illness & how, by using energy, to release Fear & illness.
