I borrowed this from the library to prepare for resuming Chinese studies in the fall after a decade-long pause. I'm being allowed to skip year 1 in light of my previous studies so I wanted to brush up. I was very impressed with this book. One of the best, most readable, comprehensibly structured, and approachable texts for an introduction to this remarkably different language. This would be my go-to recommendation for anyone looking to get acquainted with Chinese. I look forward to reading volume 2.
Extremely informative and easy to digest! The writing is simple but not boring and everyone has tons of character development! Personally, my favorite chapter was Hobbies! My favorite character is definitely 白英爱. 王朋 is was too good for 李友. Can't wait to see what shenanigans they get into in Book 2!
i passed my first chinese exam so very helpful, though i am curious about the continuation of Wang Peng and Li You relationship, will they finally confess and date in the next one?
