o This pop-up book tells the Easter story in a way that is new and exciting for children.
• A. How do you know this book fits in this specific category?
o The story is all about Jesus, the major leader in the Christian religion, and His resurrection.
• B. Describe one of the visual elements of the book and how the illustrator used the element to contribute to the story.
o Agostino Traini uses a composition method of pop-up, which allows the book to have levels, which keeps the reader interested in a story that they have likely heard many times before.
• C. How would you use this book with a child or group of children?
o I would likely use this book in a one on one kind of setting, because there are many details in the picture that are not easily visible unless seen up close. This would also allow for deeper conversations about all of the events in the story, so that there could be better understanding.

Summary: The story of the Resurrection of Jesus is shown throughout the journey. Starting with the empty tomb to his reappearance, Jesus’ victory over death is shown and in a way that children can truly understand the story of Easter and the meaning behind the reason we celebrate.
-This book fits into this category because it is a religious book and the pop outs and colors make it easier to read for children.
-Texture was definitely a big aspect in this book because it was a pop out book and allowed the story to be told through the 3D figures and also the structure of how the book is, flowing chronologically.
-I would use this book as a read aloud or teach a concept within a church group because the main thing within this story is the resurrection of Jesus and why Christians celebrate Easter.

A. This book tells the story of Jesus’ resurrection in beautiful 3D (pop-up) illustrations.
B. Traini uses a unique, cartoon-like style in his illustrations. This style bring a very childlike aspect to his book.
C. I would want to teach this book in a group read-aloud setting – its 3D pictures are easily seen across the room & would engage a whole room of listeners.

This book is good, but it seems a missed opportunity to have a pop up book about Jesus being raised and not have Jesus pop up.

Great pop up illustrations! And the story was perfect. Neither too simplistic or dry.
