Sometimes, all it takes is the right motivation… Artist Rana Lassiter has sworn off men. After being hurt, she prefers painting passionate scenes of love on her canvas instead of the real thing. But when she meets Mount Pleasance’s newest arrival, sexy and suave fireman Dallas Fontaine, she envisions a different kind of stroke than the ones she performs with her brush. To say she’s attracted to the debonair man is an understatement, but she refuses to fall victim to his good looks, charm or persistence. Dallas has never had a problem getting any woman he wants. And he wants Rana. In a way he’s never wanted any woman before. There’s just one problem…she doesn’t want him. But she will. By the time he’s done, she won’t be able to resist his blazing kisses. But nothing is easy, especially love. When a life-altering event occurs, it will test them both. Are they strong enough to forge through the catastrophic storm, or will they allow it to destroy their chance at happily-ever-after?
By day, Joy Avery works as an engagement manager. By night, the North Carolina native travels to imaginary worlds—creating characters whose romantic journeys invariably end happily ever after.
Since she was a young girl growing up in Garner, Joy knew she wanted to write. Stumbling onto romance novels, she discovered her passion for love stories; instantly, she knew these were the type stories she wanted to pen.
Real characters. Real journeys. Real good love is what you’ll find in a Joy Avery romance.
I absolutely love Dallas Fontaine and Rana Lassiter’s story. An undeniable love story that leaves you thinking about the characters for days. Rana, who was deeply hurt in the past, found it hard to lay her heart on the line again. Dallas, who never had a problem getting a woman knew different. From the first time he laid eyes on Rana, he knew he had to have her. She was indeed the woman for him. Truth be told, she was feeling the sexy newcomer to Pleasance Grove, Dallas as well. So much so that he became her secret muse and inspiration to her soul of beautiful creations. Dallas appreciated the true gift of the artistry of Rana. He used her gift to show her how to make her beautiful creations a reality that lifted straight from the canvas to one's heart. With persistence and a little help from family, these two were destined to be a match made from heaven. Just as the stone layers were removed from Rana’s heart, creating a special place for Dallas, the unthinkable happened. Dallas received devasting news at the most inopportune time. How could he share with Rana news that could shape their future of happily ever after? He did what he thought best, to leave her and give up the love he fought so hard for, to protect Rana from the foreseen heartache and pain. However, he didn’t know he was dealing with a strong, overcomer, a Lassiter. True love is not so easily separated, however, this is one time that they must fight for life and each other. They quickly learn that true love can reign supreme and overcome any obstacle. Joy Avery put it down as she penned the words to this story creating an amazing, unforgettable read that will have you on the edge of your seat as you anticipate the joining together of Rana and Dallas. You will not be disappointed as the story unfolds. I look forward to the next book in the Lassiter Sisters series.
I wasn’t thrilled by “Maybe (Lassiter Sisters - Book 2) was an okay read. Unfortunately, something was aloof about this book. …maybe the issue was poor plot development?I’m not certain (yet)!🤷🏾♀️ I am though conflicted by the events of the book. …To be a novella, this book was inundated with major random events: Rana’s response at Dallas & family’s wealth (weird), Rana attendance at an ex’s mother’s funeral (why), three generations of Dallas’ paternal relatives succumbed to cancer. However, he does get regular screenings and or blood test (really). Thereafter, I either expected more consistency or did the book just lack substance? …Consequently, the relationship/journey between Rana & Dallas was difficult to appreciate.
Amazing story, Dallas comes to town to join the Fire Department hired by his best friend Nico. Dallas was so good-looking that all the single women wanted to be with him. Dallas is Nico's best man and Rana was her sister Gadiya's maid of honor. Dallas was mesmerized by Rana's beauty. While Rana was intrigued by Dallas' good looks and confidence. Dallas pursued her and Rana wasn't interested in a relationship. Things change between them. I love how Dallas is so much in love with Rana that he is willing to give up his happiness rather than burden her down a problem that he has to deal with. He makes a decision about their relationship that he feels is the best thing for but is it?
A beautiful story of how love conquers all—heartbreak, fear, and illness. Dallas and Rama had a beautiful love story. Dallas had to work hard to get Rana to open up to the possibility of loving and more importantly allowing him to love her. They had undeniable attraction to each other. Through it all Rana learned to forgive, value herself and what she had to offer, and love again. Dallas learned to trust Rama’s love for him through the toughest fight of his life. And Rana’s ex, well he learned the tough lesson of you don’t know what you had until it’s gone. What he treated as trash, Dallas’ treasured. Beautiful love story. I highly recommend!
Another awesome read by the amazing Joy Avery. I could not put this book down and read it in one day. Joy touched on some very sensitive issue that you do not hear many people talk bout mental illness and cancer. I applaud Joy for stepping out of her normal writing and talking about them. Rana and Dallas are relationship goals, they had their test and trials and came out victorious. When Dallas pushed Rana away I was upset but could understand what made him do it. Who doesn't love a man in uniform? I am excited about the next Lassiter sisters story!
I love it when a series starts off good and gets even better with the next book! Omg! This one is my favorite by far. In this novella, we focus on Rana Lassiter and Dallas Fontaine. The perils of life surrounds these two but the strength and love radiates from the pages and resonates with you as the reader. Not to mention the fact that Joy Avery approached a tender topic, that's near and dear to me, with finesse and blessed my soul. She made me proud. I am a fan! Great job! Five stars!!!!!
These two strong individuals fought very hard against what the felt ( at least Rena did). As there love for each other grew I couldn’t help but be excited for them knowing that Dallas was as determined to show her how much he loved her and then all heck broke loose.
This story stunned me for a minute when things started to To seemingly falls apart. I gasped I cried and I hurt for both of Them. Rena and Dallas area true reflection Love. This was an enjoyable read.
Beautiful!! This story touched something very near and dear to my heart. I spend a lot of time fighting to give to those suffering with this hateful disease. I've lost family and friends but recently watched the miracle of 2 wonderful people beat the odds and are here as living testimonies to the power of prayer. This story was beautifully written and definitely a must read!!! Love heals!!!!
Maybe was a definite yes.. The second Lassiter's story was just as nice as the first. The Health scare with Dallas was superbly written. I was sad and mad and just plain upset when he pushed Rana away. Thank goodness for mettlesome siblings.... Loved this second edition. I hope the third Lassiter has a HEA as well... I'll be waiting happily....
Oh wow, this book was so gooooood! Rana and Dallas’ story is phenomenally good and breathtaking. It has everything, drama, angst, heat, deception and one of the best endings everrrrr.
I’m going to reread this over and over multiple times. Dang, I miss the cast of loving characters already. Get your copy people, you won’t be disappointed, ‘I promise’.
I like that there were real life events happening in this story. It wasn’t all love and happiness. It showed that sometimes things happen and we have to adjust. I would recommend this story to anyone who loves to read and experience emotion. I gave it 5 stars because I enjoyed it.
I don't want to give it away but I cried like a baby at the end of this book, but it was a healing cry. I can't wait until the last book. These sisters make me want to join the family.
This story was so good! I enjoyed every page of this book! Dallas & Rana hit it off && it was well worth the wait! So happy Dallas didn’t allow his situation to ruin a chance with Rana! I’m happy they have their happily ever after.
This book Love from bringing to end .Dallas found a woman that will be by his side good or bad . I need to go to and Art gallery. Joy Avery you made me leave Nico for Dallas ....lol . Great book!!!!!
This book was really good from the beginning to the end. Dallas and Raina did my heart good their love story was soooo good. The ending was soooo good. My second book by this author and it completely blew me away. On to the next book.
Great book . Great characters . story of mistrust from former hurt . Funny and entertaining. Mistrust can cloud your happiness but you have to be willing to take a chance again with love .
What I liked about this story is the joy it brings to ones heart. I have never experienced the truly everlasting love expressed. I wished for it but I had to accept God had other lessons for me. A great pick me up read.
This was a love story about Dana and Dallas. The attraction was instantaneous but they caught it tooth and nail, attempting to just have fun. After a life altering situation arose they combined their strengths for a happily ever after result.
I love a story I can feel and this was a beautiful coming again story. I lost my husband to cancer and this story resonated to my heart. Looking forward to the next installment.
The 1st book was good and this one is just as good. All the love that flows throughout is great. I loved reading about Rana and Dallas. Felt really sad after his incident but of course it turned out well as it could.
Ms Avery packs A LOT in a novella. I loved Dallas' romantic pursuit of Rana. Of course he had to be extra dramatic at the end and almost mess it up but I was glad his village didn't let him. Looking forward to the last sisters story!!
This book was a tear jerker. I especially liked that the main characters didn't just screw their way through the whole story. It wasn't just rainbows and sunshine, but the element of the health scare was a great shock from the usual romance novel.
This was so good. I think disliked this one more than the first. Great read. Just love happy endings. I hope it's a book 3 on the last Lassiter sister.
