Bethancourt's (aka Thomas E. Paisley) novel is near-future science fiction. He specializes in young adult fiction.

Reading my journals from 1985 and '86 is a trip into obscure YA novels from the late 70s and early 80s. I do remember liking this one a lot, and ended up trying to write my own story about an academy of teens with various psychic powers.
