There is too often an unspoken assumption that creating Christian books for children means "dumbing down" the faith and theology to make it digestible. The result is books only insipidly reflecting core issues of faith or spirituality and leaving young readers wondering if that is really all there is to our Christian beliefs and life.

That is altogether NOT the case with "We Pray". Backed with absolutely charming illustrations which are a wonder in themselves, the theology of this book is clear but profound, inspiring in children both awe and a desire to learn more. As fittingly illustrated on the cover by a boat moored near a church, each page becomes a launching off point for further reflection and discussion in families, a guide for children to explore their faith further with the many tools and resources described, such as liturgy, icons, and the Jesus prayer.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone looking for an inspirational gift for young children that will help them to immerse themselves in the beauty of prayer and the kingdom of God.
