Sons of Wrath #4

Soul Redeemed

Rate this book
Being half incubus sucks sometimes. Sure, the sex is great, but getting hounded by females gets old pretty fast. Especially when the only one Calix cares about has gone missing, propelling him into a downward spiral of depression and abstinence.

Trapped by a wannabe mad scientist inside a nightmare of her own, Ava longs to be free, even if it means going back to the only male she regrets having betrayed. All she needs is a single opportunity to lead the way.

Calix should hate Ava for the way she deceived him and his brothers. Yet, when she shows up looking like she’s been through a hell of her own, the sweet relief over her return battles the bitter sting of her betrayal, and Calix can’t bring himself to turn her away. Not to mention, an incubus who’s starved himself of sex for too long is a detriment to everyone—including his brothers—and the way Ava commands his body is exactly the release he needs.

Unfortunately, thanks to the lunatic who held her captive, she’s now a walking death trap to any male that tries to bed her. But danger is closing in, placing Ava’s life in jeopardy, and if Calix doesn’t find a way to control his virile urges, he might just be her deadliest threat.

The Sons of Wrath series is a paranormal romance featuring sexually-charged, vengeance-dealing demons, the non-cuddly variety of werewolves, sweet-talking succubi, and some creepy fallen angels. You've been warned.

It was the exact moment Ava had come to realize her love for the male was deeper than she could’ve fathomed. That she’d understood what he meant had told her that not even death would change what he’d come to mean for her. For her, there would never be another.

GAH! Finally! FINALLY! To say that I've been waiting forever for this story may be a sliiiiiiight understatement. For fans of gritty and sexy PNR, this series is an absolute must read. I wouldn't recommend reading it as a standalone, because there is a story arc that continues throughout the series. While each book focuses on a different couple and their individual HEA, there's so much that happens in the story that you simply wouldn't appreciate the complexity of it all without reading it in order. That and you get more pieces of the other Wrath brothers in each book. Calix and Ava's really began in Soul Resurrected and I've been salivating for it since; especially after the events in the end of Soul Enslaved.

Imprisoned in a cold basement and stripped of her powers, desperate for escape. Ava knows there may not be a way out. Injected with the deadly Sang virus for a sick experiment of a madman, this may be the price she pays for betraying the man she loves. But she won't stop fighting. She'll do anything to escape. She needs to make things right. She needs to beg for forgiveness. Even if she may not survive at the end of it.

Calix never stopped searching for the woman that stole his heart. Even if she betrayed him and his brothers in the worst possible way and they may never forgive her, he can't stop thinking about her. Starved, half crazed, he can't accept the touch of any other woman but her. With no clues as to her whereabouts, he's about to give into the madness of a starved Incubus demon.

When Ava appears in the Wrath mansion, Calix knows that her betrayal is not enough to make him stay away. With everything on the line, he'll fight for the woman he loves, even if she's convinced that her fate is already sealed.

There's so much that happens in this book. If you've been missing Xander like I have, you'll be thrilled with the pieces you get of him in this book. Then there's Ferno. Oh dear god, my poor broken Ferno. Keri dangles one hell of a carrot in this book; I think he finally meets his potential heroine here. And let me just tell you, that was one heck of a doozy. Talk about your broken souls. DAMN.

Then there's Zeke and Zayne, Xander, and more Zeke and Zayne. GAH! I couldn't get enough. I love the way that Keri expertly adds in additional POVs without taking anything away from the main couple and their romance.

I have to admit, Calix was the brother I was probably the least interested in with everything going on with the others, but he completely stole my heart in this book. There was such an emotional punch to this story with everything he and Ava go through. I loved these two together. I loved how equally balanced they are; the sacrifices they make for each other and their love. It was darkly beautiful.

Keri is truly a master of her craft and creates an addicting world that you can't help but get fully immersed in. Every time I pick up a book in this series, it's like coming back home. I'm addicted to these characters. It's not your typical PNR. It's dark and gritty with the perfect amount of sexy added in. I simply can't recommend it enough.

Calix is half incubus, which pretty much guarantees him any female he wants. Unfortunately for him, the only woman he wants is Ava--the woman that betrayed his family--and she is currently M.I.A. That doesn't stop him from longing and searching for her. Especially now that he requires feeding and it seems that she is the only one who can fulfill his need.

Ava has found herself in the worst predicament. She is trapped by a crazy man who keeps injecting with the Sang virus for some weird experiment. She doesn't want to find out what the final outcome will be, she needs to escape before that happens. Especially when there is a room full of Sang next to hers. Despite betraying the Wrath demons, that is the only place she can think of where she might be safe.

I was so excited when I finally got my A.R.C. because it did not disappoint. I've said it before and I will continue to say it, the storyline just gets better and juicier with each book. I wasn't sure how Calix and Ava would reunite especially after the way she betrayed them. The chemistry between these two was absolutely explosive! That connection gradually intensified and let me tell you, you will not be disappointed by the steam in this book one bit. Things are rather tough for these two, especially when Calix learns that the only woman he wants is off limits due to the injections she received. Any man who dares to sleep with her will die.

I am totally addicted to this series. I loved seeing Logan and Calla, and the rest of the characters again from the previous books. Some parts of this book were intense with a bit of angst. I don't want to give much of the story itself away. I just really enjoyed it and was pretty glued to the book that I didn't want to put it down. I wasn't sure how I would feel about Calix, but I ended up loving him. I also really liked Ava and thought Calix and Ava were perfect together. She was quite a strong character, definitely not a doormat of any kind. But let's talk about Ferno because I mean I need me some more of him! He was so awesome in this book. I am more curious than ever about him.

I can keep saying everything I enjoyed but all I will say is I highly recommend this series. If you haven't started reading it, you really need to. After the way this one ended, I cannot wait to read the next part. Things are going to get more interesting.

2017 seems to be the year of long-awaited series continuations; Keri Lake’s SONS OF WRATH has been on hold since the end of 2014, so when I got wind of Calix’s book, I couldn’t hit refresh on my Kindle fast enough for it to load. I must confess that after such a lengthy hiatus, I didn’t remember exactly how the half incubus fit into this world other than being one of the Wrath brothers, but SOUL REDEEMED was such a comprehensive story that my lack of a re-read didn’t impede my enjoyment in the least.

This was probably the steamiest volume to date, and seeing how I’ve been on an Urban Fantasy kick in recent weeks, the extra dollop of romance didn’t go amiss. Calix’s nature allows him access to everyone’s darkest desire which makes him the perfect lover, so expect quite a bit of kink. Until the incubus decides to change his wanton ways that is, the only problem was that when Ava finally turns up, sex is off the table. Fallen angel fantasies help, but nothing cures what ails ya like a four-day sweaty marathon.

The secondary plot lines were both a positive and a negative. Yay because I’ve really missed some of these characters, so I was psyched to see what they’ve been up to, and a few of the tangents were particularly interesting. The nay of it was that the main couple didn’t get as much page time as I would have preferred. At certain points, they pretty much disappeared for several chapters which threw off the pacing of their reconciliation, and was the equivalent of taking a cold shower in-between foreplay and the main event.

Night and day are close friends, and the same holds true in Lake’s writing because as explosive as Calix & Ava’s reunion was, the cause of their separation made me sick to my stomach. The nephilim’s been the subject of horrible experiments for months in an underground hospital, and as reprehensible as that aspect was, it didn’t hold a candle to the ultimate objective involving the Sang. This novel will leave you hiding under your blankets one minute, and throwing them off in a come hither heat wave the next!

SOUL REDEEMED was a delectable mixture of sweet and salty.

Rating~ 4.25 stars!

I was so excited for this!! There aren't many great new pnr series on the level that sons of wrath is so it was  wonderful being back in the world of Sons of Wrath!! This time it's Ava and Calix story (I've tired to keep it as spoiler free as I can.).

Ava , a nephilim has been trapped in a nightmare for months now. After betraying Calla and the Sons of Wrath because of her brother's twisted plans she finds herself kidnapped by a human who wants her to breed with the most vile demons to produce a pure offspring.

Calix , an incubi has spent the last few months looking for Ava, regardless of her betrayal he had loved her and she had disappeared. It has been a trial for him since he needs sex to survive but he doesn't want anyone else but Ava. While he's trying his best to stay true, he's getting weaker and his demonic side is getting stronger.

Ava is in a really bad away, the experimentation has left her weak and all she wants to do is go back to Calix, maybe see if he can forgive her for her betrayal and still wants her that is before she finds out that because of the experimentation she can't be with him. She escapes the hospital, unfortunately not realising the danger she herself will end up.

I really liked Ava and Calix together, they were in love and while things might be going bat shit crazy all the time they were still in love and nothing could change that. They were wonderful together, I loved seeing Calix being protective over her and taking care for her. They were willing to do so much for each other, I mean Calix would rather starve and be locked up than betray Ava and Ava would rather he do just instead of being hurt and in pain. How can you not root for couple like that. There's also that Keri Lake's couples have off the chart chemistry which also helps. :P

The world of Sons of Wrath is brutal, there is violence, deadly demons and drugs. Cruses and torture are pretty standard and just a part of life it seems with now crazy human scientist thrown in to make things even more terrifying. The plot is as always twisty, turby with unknown dangers at every corner for our demons. The writing is amazing as well, Keri Lake has this talent of really making you feel things, you feel very betrayal, relief, heartbreak, love and hate the characters feel while reading, it's truly extraordinary! Keri makes her characters work for their happy ending but my it's glorious when they do.

Along with some newer characters that I'll get to in a second we also get to see the other sons of Wrath, I loved all of them. Gavin and Sabelle are still going strong. Zayne isn't doing so great, the poor demon lost his mate and now is on a very dangerous drug. Zeke is well Zeke even after what happened, I loved seeing more of Ferno, my poor pyro demon I'm glad he got something that would atleast give him something to hold on to after killing Zayne's mate previously. We also see Logan and Calla and I'm so happy for them.

We meet some newer characters, one in particular Thais a fallen angel that seems to have very intriguing powers. I'm looking forward to see if she and Ferno may have something going on or if Xander will get his way finally.

Quibbles: I wish we gotten a bit more of Ava and Calix of how it was between them before her betrayal, maybe their meeting from one of their point of views and how they fell in love.

I love this series, I can't wait to see what Keri comes with next and how the opened storylines, the questions are answered. This was a great addition to a fab series!

4.5 'Even In Death' Stars.

Ava had a tough choice to make betray Calix and his brothers or burn in hell next to her sadistic brother. Being half human/ half fallen she decided to betray Calix and a day doesn’t go by without her regretting it.

But her freedom didn’t last for long being captured by a mad scientist and being injected with a deadly virus haven’t helped her current situation. After months she finally manages to escape and goes to the only place she feels safe the one place where she might not be wanted.

The heart wants what the heart wants, and Calix half incubus/Wrath wants Ava despite her betrayal and the pain that she has caused. After months of starving himself she reappears but not without consequences.

Calix must learn to trust Ava again but ends up forgiving her because she redeems herself on numerous accounts. I didn’t particularly care about these two in the other books, but I have a place saved in my heart just for them.

I loved the chemistry between these two off the charts hot and slightly kinky.

“Death by blowjob? That’s exactly how I want to go.”

There is just something about this series that makes it really addictive. It is action-packed, exciting and you submerge yourself into a world you don’t want to leave. Ms. Lake delivers a great paranormal series with ups and downs for all characters. Gritty, with flawed characters but you can’t help but love. It shows the belly of the underworld with all its twisted glory.

You can clearly feel the bond that the Wrath Brothers have with one another and the connection they have to their mates. It’s like you are part of the gang and are in on the action. I’m going to be honest here I thought that I wouldn’t like it, but I am glad that I did, and I need the other books now.

Out of all the males in the book it is hard to choose a favorite they are all VERY appealing. I l love logan, Gavin and Calix but there is also something about Ferno, Zayne and Xander (kind of feel as if I shouldn’t like the fallen angel) but there are worse things in life.

There were times when I was biting on my nails with what was going to happen next and at 81 % I got so peeved off it was unbelievable. Surly the author wouldn’t cross that line. Sweet baby Jesus all I can say is that she didn’t cross that line. Otherwise I would have gone on a rampage. It’s not a pretty sight when that happens. I become a mini version of the Hulk. I just don’t turn green.

Finally, a series I am up to date on. I really hope to see Denya and Zayne get a book. Zayne so needs some TLC and he is in some serious deep shite.

YES! YES! YES! YES!! I may have been waiting a looooooonnnng ass time for this fourth book, but OMG, Keri did not disappoint at all - she gave us so much more!!

Soul Redeemed is the fourth book in this series and I HIGHLY recommend reading them all in order. Each book surrounds a specific couple, however there is an underlying story line that plays throughout each book and if you just jump into one book, you won't get the full affect of everything.

I will do my best to not give away anything and also try to repeat the blurb, but I make no promises that won't happen. Ava finds herself imprisoned, all her powers have been stolen from her and she's being experimented on. She stops at nothing to try and escape and make things right with Calix.

Calix has not been able to stop thinking of Ava, even though she betrayed him and his brothers in some of the worst ways. But when she appears in his house, that intense attraction hasn't died and he'll do whatever he can to help her. These two sacrifice a lot for each other. I love how they balance each other out - Keri wrote those two so well. I mean - Calix is an incubus an Ava is a nephilim - Calix is the perfect lover but when Ava arrives, sex won't be so easy.

But let me tell you - Keri doesn't let us down with her kinky and spicy ways when it comes to sex scenes. There is no shortage of that, let me tell you. Keri has the perfect mix of suspense and romance in her PNR books, you'll definitely be breathless at the end for so many different reasons.

And we get to see the rest of the brothers and what they have been up to. Even though we see things from their POV, not once did I feel lost. Keri adds those scenes in perfectly and everything continues to flow smoothly.

Even thought it's been a few years since the last book was released in this series, I had no problem getting right back into the heat of everything. Keri has this way with her writing, that she is able to put you write back into this world as if you just read the other books only months ago.

If you have not read any of Keri's work, you are definitely missing out on a diamond in the rough. If you enjoy some great plot lines that are dark, gritty and suspenseful with a some hot sexy times added in, you definitely want to check Keri's books out. Sons of Wrath is her PNR series, but he other books are dark, erotic suspenseful books that I also highly recommend.

I have been waiting a long time for this book to come out and I was finally able to read it. Sons of Wrath is one of my favorite pnr series and I adore Keri Lake, she's an incredible writer with a vivid imagination, she knows no bounds.

Soul Redeemed is the story of Calix and Ava, I highly recommend you read the other books in the series before this one because you probably won't understand a lot of things. Since I read the last one 3 years ago I was a tad confused at the beginning but my brain caught up and it was all good.

I'm pretty sure this book was shorter than the last 3, hence the rating. I am so used to long books with Keri and that's one thing I love about her, the details she puts in her writing, the time she takes in writing something that might not be very important to the story but makes it so much better and with Soul Redeemed I didn't feel that. I liked it a lot but something was missing and it bothered me.

Apart from that, Soul Redeemed was a lot of fun, not quite as dark as the previous ones, maybe because of the length of it, it felt like a very light read when I know it shouldn't have but yeah, it all comes back to the length of the book.

I wasn't sure I would love Calix and Ava as much as the previous couples but I actually did, they work great together even though we don't get to see them fall in love completely since they already know each other well and already have feeling for one another but it didn't bother me, it was just a different type of romance.

Now, what I really loved in this book was the secondary characters. YES! Zayne, my beautiful Zayne, I am so ready for his story (next book is his) and if I'm right concerning his heroine, I am going to die. I am more than ready to read about this broken man and the woman who will bring him back to life. I am pretty sure we were introduced to Ferno's heroine as well, which I'm quite excited about.

Overall, I am a bit disappointed with this book, not gonna lie but I still enjoyed myself and I will definitely read the next one.

loved Calix and Ava's story. Soul Redeemed is about second chance, family, redemption, forgiveness. The scenario is dark, it's maybe the darkest opus of the series, so far.
Angsty, gritty, scorching hot, at times heart breaking, I found myself completely captivated by Ava and Calix's story. These characters, but not only them, all of the Sons of Wrath characters are amazing, their struggles and emotions felt real, they touch me.
What I particularly love in this series is that even if each book focuses on one couple, we follow all the other heroes in that intricate universe that Keri Lake imagined. The storyline has several levels, the hero and heroine, the couple and the larger picture which little by little becomes clearer and reveals itself. I can't wait for the next book!

I just love this series, I’m in so deep now.

Soul Redeemed the fourth in the Sons of Wrath series.

Ava’s already rubbed us up the wrong way with what she did to Calla, however all is not as it seems.

Calix will not rest until he finds his mate, no matter what she’s done, he’s prepared to face the wrath of his brothers when the time comes.

We venture deeper into this world with Redeemed, pieces are finally falling into place, but still so many more are needed.

I can’t wait for the remaining books.

PROS
- Sons of Wrath series always provides a unique and darker paranormal romance experience.
- really looking forward to Zayne/Denya story. I also can't wait for Zeke's story.
- author does a good job at making Calix's sexual desires not come across as a stupid sex addiction.

CONS
- it has been so long since the previous books that I didn't really remember much about Ava and Calix. There needs to be a "previously on..." section at the beginning.
- Ava was forgiven too easily. She betrayed and almost got one of the girls killed and she didn't have to face any consequences from the brothers.
- Because I don't remember much about Ava in the previous books, I didn't really get a feel for her personality. She seemed kind of blah.
- Calix/Ava story seemed longer than it needed to be. Half of their story was about Calix needing to have sex but Ava didn't think she could. Then voila, Gavin told her she could have sex since Calla and Logan can. It seemed pretty obvious. Meanwhile, Ava shows back up scared and no one asks her what happened to her. Her captivity wasn't brought up until 65% through the book. It seemed like the Sang situation was just put on hold until later. There just seemed to be a few glaring potholes in the story.

My rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

The brothers are back! It's bee too long, far. too. long. Soul Redeemed begins with a dark, dramatic and solemn introduction only to be followed up by some much needed (and missed!) vitamin Z! One of the many great things about this series is the range of emotions given the different personalities of the brothers. Ms. Lake writes dark, gritty paranormal romance/urban fantasy with just the right dose of comic relief. Each brother is very different and compliment one another so perfectly, that no matter your 'taste', there is indeed, a brother for you! And then there's Xander, I've missed that Fallen...

Soul Redeemed is Calix's story and while it provides everything you would want in a romantic storyline, he and Ava were overshadowed a bit, at least for me. More on that in a sec. Don't get me wrong, they had a great storyline, twists, turns and amazing chemistry that had me rooting for them the entire time. For me, Ferno stole.the. show. He owned each and every scene (though few) that he was in. The scenes with he and his brother Calix, oh the feels! It's nice being able to 'fan girl' again over these demons! Please, oh please let Ferno's book be next!

Soul Redeemed Sons of Wrath Novel #4
By Keri Lake
5 Redeemable Stars
Tortured souls carry the emotional and physical scars for life. Calix, the incubus Son of Wrath, accepts this as his reality, but it won’t stop him from searching for his one love, Ava. Yes, she betrayed him and nearly killed his brother’s Tazschla (mate), but he doesn’t care. His incubus self needs to feed and Ava is the only meal he truly desires.

Ava awakes in an abandoned hospital, where she is bound with Diablis steel and treated to daily injections of a substance that burns from the inside out. What are they injecting her with? She hears the profound screams of suffering in the other rooms and wonders what terrible fate lies ahead. Ava must depend on her acute Nephilim senses to find an opportunity for escape before she finds out first hand.

Calix and Ava’s story burns into your psyche as they wade through the sins of their unspeakable pasts, and fight hellsfire to find their way back to one another.

HOT DAMN. I'll repeat that...
HOT DAMN.

Keri Lake has outdone herself--as always. This latest installment in the Sons of Wrath series features one of my fav brothers that I've been waiting for. They're all kick ass, but some just burrow into the brain and linger, waiting to whisper sweet nothings in your ear. Calix is that demon, a half incubus, who has to fight what he is all for love of a woman and gods bless him, does he struggle. Ha! Makes for great inner conflict. ;)

Soul Redeemed is a non-stop ride that will keep you up late in to the night, cursing Ms. Lake when you crack open an eyelid the following morning. Yeah. I was up WAY too late finishing SR, but as with all of her books, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN.

Do yourself a favor and nab this one. You can thank me later.

this book was heaps about other characters too so there was a bit of povs.
she has been held and torchured and was infected with the sang virus. which they later managed to cure her of with the use of hellfire. ferno and thais, i hope they get a book!
ava was in the bad books because she took calla to the bad guys in order to save herself. but she redeems herself.
lots of frustrating parts because they couldnt be together so he couldnt find release. once they can have sex tho, marathon on. but shes been through hell and it made me sad that he was mean to her at the start. especially after escaping what she had.
this book wasnt great but i enjoyed the read and im loving this series.

This was such a long wait.
The book was full of threads. Many plots, some solved and some to come.
I hope Ferno is next, Thais would be perfect for him. But I'm afraid for Denya and the fate she's been thrust in.
I also hope the next book will come sooner.
Thank you Ms. lake for this wonderful book!
