Rate this book
Is their future doomed from the very beginning?

Sarah Michaels heads to Wyoming as a mail order bride. When she arrives, her husband-to-be is waiting, but not for her. When he disregards his mail-order bride, Sarah decides to take matters into her own hands. Not one to give up on her dream to live out west, Sarah decides to find a job and start a new life with or without a husband.

The timing could not be worse. With hopes of avoiding his mother’s meddling at all costs Robert Fields had planned to get married as soon as his bride arrived. That Sarah and his parents arrived in the same coach was an unfortunate catastrophe. Not wanting to let on that Sarah was there for him, he hustles his parents home with the intent of later explaining to Sarah and going forward with the marriage quickly… and quietly.

A compelling American western historical romance

Sarah, A Festive Bride by Hildie McQueen
Brides for all Seasons series #8. Historical romance. Can be read as a stand-alone.
Sarah Michaels agrees to be a mail order bride and heads to Wyoming to meet her intended. When she arrives after a hot and long journey, her future husband doesn’t greet her though he is simply across the street. She decides she will look for work to support herself and decides she will be fine.
Robert Fields can’t believe his future wife arrived on the same stage coach as his parents. He’s knows his mother can be disagreeable at best and doesn’t want to introduce everyone when they are weary for the journey. He knows he must apologize profusely to Sarah and explain the situation and hope she will forgive him.
Sarah does agree to continue with the marriage plan knowing to expect less than kindness from her new mother-in-law.

Sarah is kindhearted and makes friends easily in the small town of Rancheste, Wyoming. She sets up her new home, learns to cook and helps to plan a festival. Hoping her mother-in-law will eventually like her is a more difficult road but advice from a friend helps smooth the rough road. A bit of drama brings home to everyone that life and love is important and they are all lucky to have each other.

Sweet and charming, it’s a mail order bride success.

This was a cute, fun read. I learned that meddle-some monster... errr, mother in laws existed in the 1800s, LOL.

“Sarah, a Festive Bride” is not, as I had expected, a Christmas novel, but is none the worse for that.
After a glut of mediocre Christmas reads over the last week it is nice to come across a simple story that is well told.
Sarah Michaels is a mail order bride, heading to Ranchester, Wyoming, in 1873.
After a long, tiring and dusty trek her husband-to-be, banker Robert Field, is waiting at the stagecoach stop, but proceeds to completely ignore her.
He's got a good reason but Sarah has no way of knowing it and decides to call the marriage off.
Robert has his work cut out for him to change her mind.
However, while Robert is more than happy with his choice, his mother goes out of her way to make Sarah unwelcome.
What lets the book down is unwieldy writing, sentences that are awkward, and words that aren't quite right. It would have benefited from a tight editing.

Sarah, A Festive Bride

I enjoyed this book very much. Sarah, on arriving at the town where she was due to meet her prospective husband, after
Uncomfortably travelling with other people in a coach for days on end, found that the said prospective husband was dealing with other people. He had no time for her. So a travelling companion
and she spent the night at the hotel. The next day the groom arrived at the hotel and apologised to her for what happened the night before and without delay, Married her. Mother in law was a
Viscous woman who made her life a misery.
It was a lovely story of family , trouble, and eventually a love which united them together.

This was a good spin-off from the original Montana series and I was really excited for it. I am glad to say it didn't disappoint. I am glad with the book, wish it could have been a bit longer and characters would have gotten bit more time to mature.

Will he or won't he?

Another sweet read by Hildie McQeen. Sarah has made the decision not to continue her job as a companion. She has accepted an offer to be a mail order bride to Robert, a banker. When Sarah arrives in town after arduous stage coach ride, Robert ignores her after picking up his parents. At first I didn't think I was going to like Robert but he redeemed himself. Between a shoot out, a very unhappy mother-in-law and residing with Roberts parents, things are tough. Sarah and Robert have a lot to overcome on their path to true love.

Sweet mail-order bride romance

This is a sweet mail-order bride romance, with mostly likable characters. I liked the couple and most of the town's people -- but Robert's mother was not a nice person (and neither was the wife of the hotel owner).

My main problem with this story is that I don't believe a woman as bitter and judgmental as Robert's mother would change so much, especially not so quickly. It made for a nice happy ending to this story, but it also made the story too unbelievable for me.

Sarah arrives on the same stage coach as Robert's parents. Robert is there to meet the coach, but he has not told his parents he has ordered a bride so he greets the parents and not Sarah his bride. Completely miffed Sarah is determined to make lemonade out of lemons and seeks employment and is prepared to do what is needed to make herself a home. Robert has a lot of groveling to do and it's good to see him set straight.

Festive Indeed

I love this series, always a bit of drama, some romance, and strong characters. In the days where the west was still wild these brides always have an interesting time taming their husbands.
I found this to be a very enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to the new Wyoming brides!

Sarah, A Festive Bride

When Sarah arrived to meet her husband to be he could not believe how beautiful she was. They had a hard time getting their life together because it wasn’t the bride his mother wanted for her son. Hildie McQueen shows how love and family can be turned around.

A Wonderful, Delightful & Romantic Story.

The Story was Absolutely Wonderful.

Sarah & Robert were wonderful characters.

I understand how Sarah felt in regards to her mother in law. My ex mother in law didn't like me when we started dating & even after having my 1st son. She finally gave in after 5+years & respected me.

Sarah, a Festive Bride

I was much happier reading this novella. It was upbeat with only a dash of evil from a mother-in-law who worried about being displaced by her son's new bride.

Very sweet story

All in all Ms. McQueen writes an entertaining story with interesting events and characters. I have it a 3 rather than a four because of the irritating errors in word usage and grammar.
