Brohmin heads south to understand how he can stop the Deshmahne before they attempt another attack where he encounters a new ally on a surprising mission. As he tries to learn more, he discovers not all is as it seems, and is forced to work for an enemy to save someone he deeply cares for.
Isandra searches for the groeliin breeding grounds with the Antrilii, needing to learn skills she never imagined while still struggling with the loss of her Magi abilities. She must come to terms with who she is to help her companions and a surprising enemy.
The fibers are restored, and Raime stopped once more, but Jakob knows he must push onward so that he can defeat Raime before he finds power again. Doing so takes him from his brother, now healed from the madness. He searches for his purpose along the fibers but finds only more questions. Somehow he must find the answers he seeks, but doing so means he needs to understand what he has become—and the power he now possesses—before Raime steals it from him.
Honestly felt mediocre about the series initially, but book 4 captivated me, and book 5 hooked me in- finally! This book was “tight”, meaning the story line stayed clean, details were necessary and not superfluous, dialogue helpful for both information and personality development. Learning who you are is not an easy process, and becoming who you need to be can be even more trying. This book gives strength and courage to all of us to stay true to our own paths, no matter how difficult, to embrace change as it happens, and continue to seek the path of understanding and truth. Well done.
I love the inventive systems of magic/power, and the different worlds that Mr Holmberg creates. I'm just about coping with the fact that the leading boy-on-the-cusp-of-manhood in every series is practically identical. I'm finding it harder and harder to cope with characters constantly 'just needing to understand' and 'just looking for answers', endlessly, perpetually. And I've got to the point of actually growling at every superfluous 'what' in sentences. If these weren't on Kindle Unlimited, I would not be paying for them.
This series is great! Well written and detailed nuances that I have to confess I skim over at times to get to the meat of the story. I get bored with to much detail I’m a bottom line type of person. Don’t mean that as a criticism of the book I know there are a lot of people that love those detail nuances. I’m excited about book 6 and disappointed that I’m nearing the end of the journey.
This book is better the the previous book. I love the characters and story line of this series. You Start to read and you don't want to put it down. You won't be disappointed if you read this series. SyFy and Fantasy readers will love this series. Great Reading Everyone!
I'm enjoying this entire series. It's not rocket science but is interesting. Parts do lag at times but then I am not one for long descriptive passages so I tend to jump ahead leaving those behind to where the action is.
Keeping it at 85% as with the previous book. The first half still feels like an interlude but then it starts moving towards some action and combat again.
The characters continue to develop and my investment in their endeavours grows. The series continues to hold my interest and I will now begin the next chapter
Another great book by D.K. The plot thickens, as they say, the characters and story develops, I can’t wait to see what happens next and how events will play out.
