I heard the distant sound of what I thought was thunder, until it grew closer and I realized that it was actually the rumble of motorcycles coming our way. I expected them to ride on past us, but when they slowed and pulled up behind Pops’ truck I straightened nervously. They weren’t just weekend bikers, I could tell that immediately by the way they were dressed and the air of danger that they exuded. The six men belonged to an honest to goodness motorcycle club, and their worn, leather cuts were decked out in colorful patches and name tags.
They looked serious, and mean as hell. As I watched them climb off their large bikes and slowly approach us, I added big and handsome to their description. I glanced at Pops, looking for a sign that he knew these bikers. If he didn’t, I was going back to my car to retrieve my baseball bat out of the back seat. He just smiled and gave me a wink.
What was I worried about, anyway? We were on a busy public highway. I took a deep breath, smiled, and said in my usual, cheery tone, “Hi, boys.”
I couldn’t tell where their eyes were focused, since they were all wearing dark sunglasses. The man who appeared to be the leader, the hunk wearing the president’s patch, came to a stop a couple of feet away from us. I began to feel self-conscious of my clinging, wet clothes, especially when I felt my nipples turn hard against my thin tee. I crossed my arms, but the quirk of the man’s lips told me that it hadn’t been fast enough.
Jerk!
“You pickin’ up strays now, Pops?”
Ohmygod! The deep, gravelly tone of his voice was sexy as hell, and it did something quirky to my core. The man wasn’t too bad on the eyes, either. He was taller than most, his sun-tanned skin pulled taut over his super hot muscles. He oozed dominance, and the clunky silver rings on his fingers screamed that they were his backup.
“’Bout damn time you got here,” Pops grumbled, pushing away from his truck. “And be nice to cutie, here, she stopped to help, and fed me, too.”
“Cutie?”
Now I knew that his eyes were full on me, and I could tell by the tilt of his head that he was looking me up and down, as if he had the right to. I didn’t like his intimidation tactics, even if his presence was having an unexpected affect on my lady bits, something I’m sure he was accustomed to when it came to the opposite sex. The devil in me prompted me to lower my arms and slap my hands on my curvy hips in a move that I knew was challenging. A big mistake, I knew, when his sexy mouth turned up at both corners.
“Looks like a drowned rat to me.” The bikers behind him laughed.
“Flattery will get you nowhere,” I responded sarcastically, meeting what I thought were his eyes. I turned my attention back to Pops, putting my hand on his thin shoulder. “Now that your boy is here, I’ll be on my way. It was nice meeting you.” I glanced back at the group of bikers. “Goodbye, boys.” I gave them a wave, eager to be on my way.
“Baby--” The sound of his growly voice made me stop in my tracks to look back at him. “You call me a boy again, and I’ll be only too happy to show you that I’m a man.”
This book will be available in ebook and (paperback through Amazon)
Tory Richards is an Amazon bestselling author in the categories erotic romance and romantic suspense who writes smut with a plot. Born in Maine, she's lived most of her life in Florida where she went to school, married, and raised her daughter. She's retired from Disney and spends her time with family and friends, traveling, and writing.
Coming soon! Book 3, Tank, in my The Biker Next Door series
Almost as good as Hawk and Audra's story. I wanted a little bit more kink, like the previous one I read. From start to finish this book is a very well told motorcycle club romance. Super over the top alpha male. Virgin heroine. Takes him a while to realize he wants only her. Little bit of a separation at the end. Could've used a little bit more angst. Can't wait to read another by this author.
Would love to see this author write romantic suspense where the leading man is a detective or sheriff, or someone on the other side of the law. Something similar to Linda Howard or my new favorite, CP Smith.
Ruby has floated from town to town living out of her car to hopefully stay away from the reason she left in the first place. Tanner is the President of the Sentinels MC and when he meets Ruby he thinks her sass is in need of some taming, but he is a one and done type of man and he knows getting involved with her would be trouble. When he finds out Ruby is now his Dad's new roommate, although, she is there to make sure he is getting taken care of, he knows that the temptation to stay away is going to be too much. Throw in Daytona Beach Bike Week, a rival MC and Ruby who does not have a clue about the rules and you have a heck of a story.
I enjoyed this but it is a bit angsty and got a little bit too much of Ruby running her mouth. She put herself in dangers way as well as others. Tanner was a bit rough and curt, but he grows on you. Overall good start to series.
Just didn't hit the spot for me. Younger woman on the run and a MC stuck somewhere between being the enforcers of the law for the town and a bad ass MC that will kill in a minute. Lots and lots of hot sex and hot guys. A hero who is determined not to ever get into another relationship and has a one time and done policy. A younger h who is on the run from her former foster brother and at times seemed tstl. I would classify it as biker romance lite leaning towards a younger YA/NA audience.
When Ruby stopped to help an old man broke down on the side of the road she didn't know that it would be the beginning of the life and place she was looking for to finally settle down. She had spent the last year of life traveling the country, living out of her car. So, when she stopped at a diner hoping to find a job and a cup of coffee she found that there wasn't a job there but they knew of one. Surprise, it was none other than Pop's who opened the door after making up a story he insisted that she stay. But what was even more surprising was the man who walked in the kitchen where she was getting ready to fix breakfast, none other than the sexy biker that showed up to help Pop. He was naked as a jaybird and wasn't trying to put any clothes on as he dragged me into his bedroom. Afterwards he let me go back to the kitchen. When I first met him he told me what would happen if I called him a boy again, well he showed me with a kiss (the best kiss), that was the beginning of our journey together. I wanted what he was fighting so hard not to give me, himself. Tanner was a one and done man until he got a taste of me then all bets was off.GREAT BOOK,LOVED IT!!😍😍😍
I loved this book! Ruby is a caring young woman who fearlessly stopped to help an old man who's truck had broken down on the side of the interstate in the pouring rain. Without giving much thought to her own safety to see if she could help 'Pops'! Finding out he had help on the way she shared her leftover lunch and a bottle of water with him while keeping him company during the wait for help. The help which arrived was in the form of The Sentinels MC didn't even scare Ruby away... And the story just gets better and better from there... If you haven't read it yet, do so, you won't be disappointed!
This story will take you on the highs and lows of Tanner and Ruby's journey to find love. I laughed, wanted to smack Tanner a couple times, and fell in love with the story that was unfolding with each page that I read. As a bonus you get to meet Pops that will steal your heart and will also have you in tears.
On the run Ruby stops to help an old man with car trouble until his son collects him. The son turns out to be Tanner, the delicious Prez of the Sentinals MC, who has a one and done policy. He isn’t happy that Pops invites Ruby to be his home help in Tanners house.
A really fast paced page turner, packed with danger, drama, twists and denials. I’m really looking forward to Ace’s story next.
I have read this author before, and she writes a fairly decent MC book. However, this book was not very good. It was a cheesy MC book and there were a lot of inconsistencies in the book. There were times when the paragraph or page contradicted what was a few pages or even a paragraph before. I gave it two stars, because the plot was interesting enough that I finished it.
i really like the story. the connection between main characters and supporting characters were good. main girl and boy spend some time to develop their relationship. i wanted more detail in epilogue .
Tanner is rough and crude and does not believe in love. Ruby is sweet, sassy and independent. it's a battle all the way to their hea but they do get there eventually and it makes for a thoroughly engaging story
Another great read from Tory Richards. Ruby is feisty girl dropped into the middle of Biker Week. This storyline is engaging and fun to read. Absolutely loved this book and recommend it.
I liked this a lot except there were times I thought she acted immature. That’s the only reason I gave 4 stars. But looking forward to reading about Ace next!
Hand down my favorite book of Tory Richards so far! Great style of writing. I was sucked right into Tanner and Ruby's story, but damn did Pop's steal my heart.
