A quick short story basically introduces Jelena and Erick as well as their new spaceship. Enjoyable and fun

Nice lil short story to setup the new series. I liked Erik; Jelena is still annoying. She is only 18 so can understand her dumb emotion based decisions that Erik clearly knows better. Yet he still helps her. Oh well...i already bought the series cuz i thought it would be great. I should have waited for Christmas and used a gift card. :-(

Jelena's turtle-shaped ship is practically a character in itself. Jelena loves the battered thing to pieces (much like her mother loves her worn ship) and the crew has come to accept that the Snapper is their home.

This story lays out how she came to be in possession of the Snapper and, as one would expect from the daughter of Alisa Marchenko, there's a little bit of danger involved. Little bit. You'll barely notice. And no matter what you might hear otherwise, there is absolutely NO close combat fighting. Or animals that Jelena feels compelled to rescue.

Lying. There's ALL THOSE THINGS.

Seriously, the Marchenko blood runs true and Jelena can't walk away when someone needs her. Like her mother, she also inspires some thrilling heroics from her companions. Erick, I'm looking at you.

I always enjoy these glimpses into the characters lives outside of the main story and this one hit the spot.

In this prequel to the Sky Full of Stars series, Jelena and Erick go on the search for the cargo ship that she hopes to pilot while gaining some independence from her parents. The pickings are pretty slim on the dusty planet they’re on, but then they witness the crash of a cargo ship being attacked by three old Imperial bombers. Since there is a dog on board, as well as the pilot, Jelena is determined to help and drags Erick along with her. They get more than they bargained for with armed men intent on stealing Alliance weapons from the freighter’s cargo hold, but with their Starseer abilities, they manage to defend themselves and the pair they’re trying to help. I love the way that Jelena and Erick bicker and tease each other, while looking out for each other just like a brother and sister would, since even though they’re not related, they’ve grown up with each other. This was a fun story and I enjoyed getting a bit more background to the series.

Loved this little prequel story for the Sky Full of Stars series. The banter between Jelena and Erick is such a joy to read and always makes me smile and oh man those two can't go anywhere without shenanigans.

Jelena and Erick are an exciting duo. I'm not sure about her uber fanatic animal/non-violent stance however. I guess that is going to be one of the things she grows/pokes at through the next few books.
Bleh @ the unicorn, sparklies, and horsie stuff. Man that makes me feel old....

This was a one-off short story I came across. It is a prequel and does a nice job of introducing the characters quickly and moving straight into the action. It interested me enough for me to start looking for the series. 4/5 on Goodreads.

Another fun read as we follow the intrepid crew to their next adventure. We see Jelena and Erick searching for a new freighter, which can only mean trouble. A nice short story to see how they do when on their own.

Fun and entertaining prequel to the Star Nomad series. We get to learn a bit about the previous ship owner and why Erick feels responsible to fly with Jelena on her adventures.

18-year-old Jelena goes shopping with Erick to find/buy her first space-freighter. The used freighter yard has dangers but maybe they can find one flying by.

Good introduction to new characters

This was fun. I was sold on it when the author wrote that 3 cats walked into engineering. Cats AND space ships!
