Emily gets the Christmas present she wants, a gorgeous golden Labrador puppy. She does her best to train him, but then he is stolen.

Holly Webb is great at children's books about animals. This one fits into the mystery genre, light obviously because of the age group this book is intended for, but still a pretty good one.

It is a good book to talk to kids about responsibilities of having animals, but it is also just a fun, emotional story.

I recomend this book to people who like dogs. I like the part when the girl tries to find sam and dosn't give up. I think that everyone who likes dogs and likes adventure. I feel bad when sam gets stolen because if I lost my dog Ruby, I would be devestated.

I loved this book, I know you shouldn't give puppies or dogs as a Christmas present but this story a girl and yellow Labrador build a friendship, but can Emily find her beautiful, perfect puppy? Read the book to find out. This book is really good, I think you should read it, I've read Smudge The Stolen Kitten, and now I've read Sam the Stolen Puppy.

Każdy od czegoś zaczynał swoją przygodę ze światem książek. Moja bardziej poważna relacja z fikcyjnymi bohaterami rozpoczęła się co prawda od Wattpada, którego kiedyś poleciła mi kuzynka. Zaczęłam coraz częściej zaglądać do tej aplikacji, ale do dziś pamiętam, jakby to było wczoraj, jak bardzo byłam szczęśliwa, gdy w szkolnej szatni powiedziałam mamie, że mam nową książkę na wieczór.

Mama rzadko czytała mi książki na dobranoc, ponieważ tego nie potrzebowałam i też nie oczekiwałam tego codziennie. Jednak, kiedy już to robiła, słuchałam jej głosu jak zaczarowana i nigdy nie lubiłam momentu, w którym nadchodziła pora spania. Te chwile miały w sobie coś wyjątkowego, poczucie bezpieczeństwa i bliskości, które dziś wspominam z ogromnym sentymentem.

Wypożyczyłam wtedy książkę „Wróć, Alfiku!”. Jest to historia o pewnej parze, ich psie oraz dziecku, które ma się wkrótce pojawić na świecie. Gdy maleństwo przychodzi na świat, Alfik nie otrzymuje już tyle uwagi co wcześniej, przez co zaczyna rozrabiać. Właściciele nie potrafią sobie z nim poradzić i podejmują decyzję o oddaniu psa. Piszę tę recenzję jeszcze przed ponownym sięgnięciem po tę historię, ale doskonale pamiętam emocje, które mi wtedy towarzyszyły, ja, cała czerwona, z potokiem łez na twarzy, przeżywająca smutne losy Alfika, i mama, której oczy, ku mojemu zdziwieniu, nawet nie zaszkliły się od łez.

Dla mnie, osoby niemal pełnoletniej, nie jest to już najlepsza forma rozrywki. Zaczynam dostrzegać powtarzalność schematów i podobieństwa między jedną historią a drugą. Jednak dla tej małej mnie, która dopiero odkrywała świat książek, była to opowieść pełna emocji, ucząca empatii i wrażliwości.

Nieważne, ile będę miała lat i nieważne, co będą mówić inni, raz na jakiś czas wciąż będę sięgać po takie książki. Robię to nie tylko z sentymentu, ale też dla tej młodszej wersji siebie, która zakochała się w czytaniu i która wciąż na to zasługuje.

Sam the Stolen Puppy by Holly Webb is a heartbreaking tale of one little girl’s search for her missing pup. Emily had only one Christmas wish, and it was granted in the form of a beautiful golden labrador puppy. Immediately smitten, Emily takes her job as the puppy’s owner seriously, showering the adorable pup with all the love and attention he deserves. However, things go awry when Emily arrives home from school to find Sam missing, stolen from her backyard. Will she find him or is he lost forever?

This is such a cute story. While technically a mystery, it is light, making it appealing to all ages. Short, easy chapters with a few challenging vocabulary words make this a perfect book for young independent readers and an engaging read aloud. Simple illustrations depict scenes from the story and can be found throughout the book. Overall, this is a sweet, simple story that any animal lover will enjoy.

This is a cute way of explaining one of the dangers of pet ownership to younger readers. Due to the title of the book it isn't a spoiler to say that Sam the puppy gets stolen.

This is handled well through different eyes including Sam's himself. I admit I couldn't help but think of Scooby Doo while reading it as the villains are not exactly secret.

The ending was expected but also left unanswered questions. I am not sure if there is a sequel to this resolving them. I enjoyed it but not as much as other books in the series.

Holly Webb really knows how to suck the joy out of everything, including receiving a puppy as a xmas gift. Let's overlook for a bit the fact that the story is boring and focus on the father, the most atrocious character I have ever encountered. He nags, he complains, he never listens to what the children are saying, he thinks he is always right and he is quick to judge and profess his disappointment with everyone and everything. And the atrocity comes from the fact that he is not made intentionally horrendous, no, Holly Webb actually thinks she is writing about a good father. Shoot me now.

I brought a mystery set of 5 children’s books from Oxfam and this is one of them. I made it a goal for Easter weekend to read all five and then either keep or donate them.

I remember when I volunteered in a school the year fours were in love with these books so when I saw this was in my mystery pile I had to read it. Plus the illustrations throughout this are lovely and perfectly capture the Sam’s nature and the families love for their puppy.

Brakowało mi jakiegoś zakończenia, ale poza tym - jak na książkę dla młodszych dzieci (6+?) - mi się podobało. Na pewno plus za pokazanie jak opiekować się psami i wspomnienie, że nie powinno się ich kupować jako prezent - bardzo ważny przekaz szczególnie dla dzieci.
