Andrew Raskell had life just the way he wanted it. As a gryphon shifter and ambassador from his homeland of Cadia to the small human town of Cloud Lake, life is peaceful and uneventful. Mostly. But when he comes upon a wolf shifter trying to harm a human woman, his intervention changes everything. He never thought he’d see the short, blonde haired woman again, but a second chance meeting proved to him that it must be fate. Now, if he could only show her that he was right for her.
Karri Blaine had everything figured out. From a young age she’d driven herself harder than anyone else in the quest to take over her shifter-hating father’s company. The only problem? He wants to give it to her immature younger brother instead. All it will take is one slip up on Karri’s part and her father will have the reason he needs to strip her of her role within the company. Karri knows that she shouldn’t invite the shifter into her life. Not after what happened to her family two years before. This could be the opening her father needs, but she’s blinded by the sexiest, strongest man she’s ever met.
Her father isn’t the only problem that Karri needs to worry about. Andrew has unknowingly dragged her into the crosshairs of those who are gunning for his job, and they’ll stop at nothing to get there. Andrew is playing for keeps though, and he’ll do whatever it takes to win her heart, no matter the cost to him…
This is a complete standalone full-length novel with a HEA and no cliffhangers.
Amelia Jade loves to write the stories of tall, growly shifter men and the women who come to love them. Living out in the back-country near the mountains, she keeps her own alpha male close by, to keep the bears away and keep her warm. In her down time (which is rare), she loves to read science-fiction with a dash of fantasy. You can often find her curled up in front of the real wood-burning fireplace, her nose firmly buried in a book or her favorite ereader. The cold can't bother her there!

Wing her over is my first book from this author and I must say it surprised me on many levels, although not all in a positive sense. It is a stand-alone but I believe having knowledge of whatever previously went on in the Cadia universe would have helped getting a better picture. There is basically no world building here, things are explained over a past war and why the cohabitation of humans and shifters in Cloud Lake is what it is now, but that's it, no layers. no details. If you follow me you must know I love shifters, I love their magic and animalistic side, the physical appeal, I'm on board with the whole mating concept and instalust, but more often than not I forgot there were shifters involved at all in this story. The boiling, irrational hatred against shifters of one character in the book was used as a plot device for many things, but truly, it could have been towards any other kind of 'foreigners'.
With the exception of a few episodes, everything was so normal in this little town, I had to remind myself I was reading about shifters. I love wolf shifters but they were the villains. that put me off. Not once we saw the three Bear Green Berets soldiers shift or do anything heroic, so I guess it's all to be found in that serie. And I chose the story because I was very eager to read about a gryphon, a mythological figure very dear to me, but I didn't get my fill, not even close. On the positive side, Andrew is absolutely not the typical arrogant assholish alpha male I'm so tired of. Even if the instalove happened pretty soon, it didn't unfold as per canon, I really liked that. He felt that absolute certainty and love, but didn't simply barge into his mate life, overwhelming her and asking her to just do as he said and leave everything for him or grabbing her and carrying her away on his shoulder caveman style.. For once we got a powerful, attractive shifter not fucking around, not flirting around, discouraging other women's propositions, listening to his love interests and really understanding what is important to her and what makes her tick, ready to sacrifice his own feelings for her. This complete respect was absolutely refreshing. Unfortunately, I missed more gryphon scenes, something spectacular and awe-inspiring, I love flying...and I would have preferred more passion. Especially considering he's supposingly an Ambassador and yet seriously lacks diplomatic bones and foresight. The political intrigue could have been handled sooooo much better, it was flat enough to be transparent and yet Andrew and everyone else just kept missing the whole picture or making rush decisions.
The female lead Karri was also a mixed bag. The combination of extremely driven and ambitious with a ridiculously over the top temper hardly ever worked for me. She came to the wrong conclusions too often and too quickly, but it was good to read of a heroine that didn't just drop her whole life and personality for a pair of blue eyes and tight abs. She had worked hard, she wanted her carreer to go a certain way, she had her priorities straight. I wasn't expecting sexism to be used so profusely in a paranormal story, but it was a red line drawn to explain her relationship with her father and the business world. Many bonus points for choosing this topic and daring to mix it with shifters, unfortunately I can't say it was a seamless mix. It made her perhaps too reactive, at the wrong moments. She had some rush and very unfair moments, but she also took the time to think about her behaviour and realise her mistakes. Something else I have an issue with is how her self-image is presented. On one side we read that it took her a long time to come to terms with her physical type - little, thin and lean- and how she kept herself fit and accepted what she would always have, on the other hand there were SO MANY comments and references to her missing curves and all things feminine that it's impossible to believe she's really ok with her body. What is it, author? Is she strong or secretely self-loathing? And why shouldn't she be feminine even without big curves?
I liked the couple, but they didn't win me over. I loved Andrew giving her the time and space to find out about her own feelings and accepting her choices, but nothing swept me away. Karri's father was a massive tool but I was glad when she finally got through to him. The sex scenes were...average if not a bit boring, even if I believed their sexual connection. The conspiracy didn't bring the intended suspence and I missed more shifting glory. The bonus scene takes place three years after the facts and considering we didn't get to see a wedding or a mating-ritual in the book, I feel deprived. Despite it all, I am curious to read more from the Cadia world, hopefully it will be a bit more exciting.
Karri Blaine only ever had one dream in her life, proving to her sexist father that she was just as smart as any man to run the family business. He wanted a male heir, well he got her! But will she give that all up in order to be happy and follow the only man who has ever accepted her for herself. Who has shown her passion beyond her wildest dreams.
Andrew is a gryphon shifter, Ambassador to Cadia. When he saves human Karri from an abusive wolf shifter, he never imagined that she was his fated mate. Now he must choose between continuing his position as Ambassador, or giving it all up and living his long life without the happiness of his mate of the woman he loves.
Will dreams, greed and prejudices be strong enough to interfere with love?
I love when Amelia Jade comes out with a new shifter book. Each one is better than the last. We briefly met Andrew in her Blackjack bears books. We finally get his story. Andrew, a gryphon shifter, is making Cloud Lake a better place. He is a tough, gorgeous man who doesn't let anything bad happen in his town. Karri, is a no nonsense, do it yourself woman who is thrown in the middle of a bad situation. With passion, a little bit of heartbreak, and enough danger to go around Mrs. Jade writes one heck of a book! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
At long last our Gryphon shifter Andrew, who has been popping up over quite a few of the last few books, gets his chance to find his mate. Unfortunately, we learn very little of Andrews background but we do end up with one very good story. It is not easy to explain Karri, she is a little bit difficult due to being one strong character which is wonderful, but she flies off the handle and makes assumptions rashly. Together they face a whole slew of problems from both Karri’s father who hates shifters with vitriolic passion and also from unscrupulous shifters trying to usurp Andrews position as Cadian Ambassador to Cloud Lake. I did enjoy this story very much and I would suggest getting the bonus scene from the authors website. This is my honest review of this book.
I cannot imagine there is any reader who followed the Cadia and Fenris set of series that wasn’t completely delighted to finally have the gryphon shifter Andrew’s story told. It seems I’ve been waiting a long time for him to find his mate and get his chance at happy ever after. But all things come along when they’re supposed to. And now we have Wing Her Over to add to the lore of these series.
Since the war the city of Cloud Lake has been somewhat quiet, nothing like the days when the war was in full swing and Cloud Lake faced so many challenges to simply survive. Now Cloud Lake has a small embassy staff from Cadia on hand to deal with shifter situations, by Ambassador Andrew, a gryphon shifter himself and a few, very few, other capable shifters on staff. As usual it was the Fenris wolf shifters who were causing trouble, one in particular who was a royal pain in the butt for Andrew to deal with constantly. It’s unfortunate that Al is well positioned politically, and also unfortunate that Andrew’s hands are somewhat tied as to how he can deal with the troublemaker.
Karri was shocked when the wolf shifter had attacked her, perhaps more shocked at the shifter who rescued her. While she was thankful to Andrew, she certainly didn’t have time to play nice and fall all over him. She had a business to run, well, run for her father who seems determined to undercut Karri’s every move within the company. As second in command, and the heir who would one day inherit this company it was in Karri’s interest to keep reminding her father of her talent and abilities. Even if that often fell on deaf ears.
Andrew knows that Karri, a human, is his mate. He also knows how important the family business is to her so he’s taking the human’s courting tradition quite seriously. He’ll win her over the slower way, and hope that soon she’ll return his love. What he didn’t count on was fate stepping in, an irate shifter hating father and a political trap ready to be sprung. No, nothing is business as usual in Cloud Lake these days.
I adored Andrew and Karri, they fit well – total opposites perhaps, but they worked. It definitely helped to know the history of Cadia and Fenris in this story. For those that have come upon Wing Her Over without that knowledge of the previous series… there may be confusion over a few things. I don’t see how that can be helped for it’s impossible to explain the basics of four series that connect in a few sentences.
I loved this story, hope that there are more to come and would definitely recommend Wing Her Over to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader. I would make the strong suggestion to read the previous series (if you have not) they are well worth your time.
I read this title through my Kindle unlimited subscription.
This is the first book I've read by Amelia Jade, and I really enjoyed it! I'll definitely be reading more! I love shifter books, and was super excited that Andrew is a Gryphon shifter! Super cool! I haven't read a gryphon shifter book before, so that was great! Amelia Jade created an interesting world involving the shifter population, and I enjoyed the back story for the shifters and Andrew. Andrew's job is to keep the shifters in check in the human city Cloud Lake, when he saves Karri from being attacked by a bad shifter, he recognizes Kerri as his mate, but doesn't want to scare her away by telling her too soon, so he decides to take it slow with Kerri. Kerri is a tough, capable women, who helps her father run a large company, but her father is a pain in the ass, and is trying to find a reason to not pass down the company to Kerri because she is woman. Kerri feels an attraction for Andrew, but she is very business oriented, and she doesn't want to do anything to jeopardize her inheriting the company, so she's unsure of becoming more with Andrew. There's some devious outside forces causing problems for the couple, that adds some great suspense! Plus, Kerri's father is crazy! Wing Her Over is entertaining and unique! The romance is sweet, and I love their connection! I actually would've loved more romance scenes between the two! I also would've loved more ending, but I loved what was there. Great read!
Interesting read about a gryphon shifter, more about this alternative world and the interactions of humans and shifters. Andrew is the ambassador between Cadia, the shifter nation and the world of humans, or more specifically, the town of Cloud Lake. He saves Karri from a drunk wolf shifter and so begins the twists and turns of their story. Andrew is a gryphon shifter, not expecting to find his true mate. He just tries to do his best to allow shifters to visit Cloud Lake while insuring the humans are safe. His comfortable situation starts spinning, for several reasons, when he meets Karri. She's an established, hard working business woman. As a VP for her father's company she's worked most her life trying to prove she's the best to inherit their business. Unfortunately, her father is a sexist and a bigot against shifters. That makes a relationship between Andrews and Karri problematic. Add in the shifters who want Andrew out of his embassy and you've set the stage for kidnapping, corruption, shootouts and shifter violence. But Kerri is a well matched, strong woman, who does not back down from (several) challenges that being with Andrew brings. It's great to see a powerful woman not back down, but instead act to save her mate.
I was really excited to find out that Andrew was finally getting his own story, and it was definitely worth the wait. Andrew is awesome, and I love Karrie, she's the perfect mate for him. I really enjoyed following their story and watching them fall in love and work towards their eventual HEA (which was super cute). Karrie was everything I expected in a mate for Andrew. I also really liked the background characters of Liam and Camille. I would love to see the two of them get their own story eventually, even just a novella of them getting their HEA. The only thing I didn't like was the part about Karrie's mother, and the sad taint that put on her father's story. Besides that, I really did love the book though, and it's actually my new favorite by this author.. I'd love to see her do more stories like this. I was gifted a copy.
Karri Blaine has been working very hard to take over her father's company when he retires. There is only one, OK two problems...her father, and the fact that she is female!
Andrew Raskell is the Griffin shifter who aided in the war between Cadia and Fenris...against orders. Now he was "exiled" to Cloud Lake as the Cadian Ambassador and he was working hard to heal the rift between the humans and shifters.
But troubles are brewing...
I won't put any spoilers here, but I am so happy to have more stories and the beginning of another spin-off series regarding the Cadians!
This is the first book I've read by Amelia Jade, and it definitely won't be my last. This was enjoyable and entertaining read and was super surprise that Andrew was a Gryphon shifter. FYI didn't even know what a gryphon was!! All the same it was exciting to read about. I would've loved more romance scenes between Andrew and Kerri but oh well. So if your looking for a unique read with a little bit of intrigue, suspense, action, and steamy romance. Then you should totally one click this book. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no minority compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
I enjoyed the story and the characters. Karri is trying to earn her father's trust and approval so she can run his company. She knows he hates shifters and it will ruin her chances but Andrew is so tempting Andrew knows he has found his mate and is determined to find a way for them to be together.
It is a story that gets your interest right away. Karri and Andrew have amazing chemistry from their first meeting.I really liked it when Karri stood up for herself and confronted those who underestimated her strength. Andrew is strong an protective and gives Kerri the love she needs.
I enjoyed meeting Andrew the griffon/griffin shifter in other other books about cadia and it was nice to see he gets a mate but this is the first book of your Amelia that I was tempted to go to the end to see if he got the girl and wasn't hurt or killed off I want more of these two how about the 3 bear shifters gray and his 2 green bearetts let's keep going with these I'd like to see maybe a gay couple for a change or girl shifter and a guy please please please more from our shifters in cloud lake and cadia
What has Andrew gotten himself into. The number one rule is NEVER allow the human community see you shift. What is going to happen now? Placed in Cloud Lake for his transgressions during the war between the Cadians and Fenrians he was given a new post as Ambassadar of Cloud Lake to make sure nothing goes wrong with more shifters coming to visit. He meets a woman who is in trouble because of a Political idiot from Cadia that is trying to make more trouble for him. This book was well written, fast paced and lots of action. Looking forward to more :-)
Very strong and likable characters with a good storyline that most definitely needed the BONUS chapter give it a well balanced ending. However, there was something left dangling... Al the shifter was so well connected in Cadia to always cause problems for Alex but yet no one ever came forward after he was killed so for this reason I give it a 4.5!
This was a great read! I needed something that made me laugh and dreamy at the same time. Plus the added bonus of an Alpha Human Female who is petite and tiny but makes up for it with her presence to humble an awesome Griffin. Hope everyone enjoys this love story as much as I did.
Another fantastic story by Amelia Jade. A story of love, confusion, intrigue, drama, action and adventure! From page one you at hooked and putting the book down is not an option. Its fantastic!!
I must be reading too many books because everything is becoming the same old same old. I didn't really care for this one but I read it. It's about all I'm gonna say on it I can't really remember what it is about the book that I didn't care for it but I didn't really care for it.
This is a very well written story that has some very memorable characters and a great plot. It's action packed all the way. It was hard to put down. There is some violence and sexual content. Hooray, for Andrew!!
Great action, great characters and great story lines. Different type story flexible plot. Great ending just enough to not surprise but give an "ah ha" that gives a smile to you.
Our heroine is feisty, smart and doesn't back down. Our hero works hard to rebuild trust with the human populace he's tasked with. The sparks fly when they meet but the surrounding prejudice and political maneuvering put a crimp in their budding relationship.
Deeply developed characters who live in Cadia, a fictional town I've come to love. This book had lots of twists and turns, an awesome thing in my mind. I hate when people give away the plot, so I won't do that, but I highly encourage you to get this book! :-)
